Our Girl Thread 57 "Our Girl Revisited"

We have been following Our Girl since 2014 and although there are to be no further series, we revisit time and time again to discuss. As an alternative, we are also watching the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier.

Maybe in those temperatures they dry quickly.

Molly is needed. Off she goes up that hill. I'd be huffing and puffing running up there - even walking would be too much.

I'd be thinking of athlete's foot I think!

Poor Molly, what a horrible job to have to confirm all the ANA are dead though with bullet holes like that, it looks blindingly obvious to me.

A sobering scene at the CP. Smurf never gives up on hating the afghans and suspecting everyone. 'Jitterbug' in his head...yeah.

Meanwhile back at the FOB - CJ wanders in for a gawp at Molly in her skimpy outfit.

"She'll be fine" he thought about that for all of half a second!

I do like the way CJ sympathises with Azizi.

Oooooooooooh, this has to be one of my favourite scenes in the series when CJ comes into Molly's tent.

CJ asks what Molly's plans are for her future in the army. He does appear to be fairly gentlemanly and isn't openly ogling her in her vest and shorts.

Oh, the request for Rosabaya! I'd never even heard of it before OG! Such lovely handwriting.

He has a request - ooh lovely - Rosabaya...sounds so lovely doesn't it. She will never wash her arm again.

He can't let her hand go. "Come back to me" - so different from Smurf's promise. Nice camera work.

Wonder if he's thinking "What on earth have I just done?"

The lads see Molly and Smurf off for their two weeks R&R. They all have a list of shopping for her to do.

Molly is wishing she didn't have to go. "Might gonna need a medic".

Molly can't go - she doesn't want to leave CJ as much as the rest of the lads.

He struggles to convince her, so makes it an order. He probably needs her to go because he's not thinking straight.

"Would you really want me in the light of day?" - yes how apt that lyric is.

Molly has flashbacks and bad dreams about poor Rolex Boy.

Those transport planes look very uncomfortable. Hardly British Airways first class.

I bet she can't get the morning out of her nut - I'd never be able to forget the CJ moment.

I do like Molly and Smurf's banter in the plane - he is so deluded.

What with the feed these swans, baby thing?

There's Mrs Smurf hugging her boy - ah poor Mum.

They arrive back at Brize Norton and Mrs Smurf is there to meet Smurf. A very emotional reunion. Mrs Smurf must be reliving what happened when Smurf's twin died, especially after his own recent brush with death.

I've never understood that comment eejit and I've watched this dozens of times.

Molly decides to leave. Smurf holds on too long..er...embarrassing.

I wonder if it's about the muscles in his biceps - making a swan like shape with them?

The way Smurf screams at his mother, is this an indication of his state of mind and what's to come later?

Molly views home in a different light when she considers what it's like in Afghanistan.

Certainly Molly has seen it.

Newham is definitely mulit-cultural.

The whole Dawes clan is waiting to welcome her own.
