We have been following Our Girl since 2014 and although there are to be no further series, we revisit time and time again to discuss. As an alternative, we are also watching the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier.

Molly's mum comes to see her. Ahhh!

Ilovelblue · 22/09/2020 22:26

Gulp, Molly's version of the letter from the grave.

Dave has a strange way of showing he loves Molly. I think Belinda is embellishing it a bit.

Rhubarb01 · 22/09/2020 22:27

Try to imagine this bit at the end is Molly getting on that plane to Afghan with CJ and Two Section except it's not quite the same.

Meanwhile, life goes on at home.

Ilovelblue · 22/09/2020 22:29

Well, that was a wee bit long and drawn out but it does set the scene well for Molly's character to develop out in Afghanistan.

Always surprised that Corporal Geddings reads that letter.

Ilovelblue · 22/09/2020 22:33

Yes, I thought that too Rhu. I would have thought they were sealed and filed away.

Well, there was a wee sniff at the end. Next week it’s the real thing.

Rhubarb01 · 22/09/2020 22:59

So, all set for Episode 1 of Series 1 next Tuesday. Stay safe folks....

Rhubarb01 · 22/09/2020 23:05

Totally irrelevant but I've just split my sides laughing at Emily Matliss on Newsnight accidentally introducing Alan Johnson "Joining us down the line from Hell!!" followed by...."Sorry, Hull!"

The lighting is weird enough on this interview to believe it could be Hell. At least he found it funny.

Magi84 · 23/09/2020 14:59

Sorry I'm a bit late with my comments but had my nose stuck in a book last night and completely forgot. Have just watched it now and found it so interesting after all this time and never having done a repeat watch of it before. Really found Dave so obnoxious that I'm not sure I would ever have been able to start talking to him again if I were Molly. So I suppose really the way she handled him in series one showed how the Army had broadened her understanding of people and in fact just how adult she had become. Having Nan around then too made a difference as her opinion of Dave was pretty obvious!

Well acted all round and certainly Matthew McNulty was excellent.

Sorry hear you've been poorly Rhu but glad you managed to get a test and it was negative.

eejittwo · 23/09/2020 16:09

I was thinking of the similarities between Artan and Dr Boring, and between Dave and Grace ...

Magi84 · 23/09/2020 18:46

You're right eejit I hadn't thought of that. Controlling Artan very upfront with it and Dr Boring again controlling in a more subtle way. Then Dave and his rather nasty attitudes and Grace the 'lovely' caring Mum

Ilovelblue · 23/09/2020 19:10

I'd never thought of that eejit but yes, you're right.

Just watching Emmerdale and Brains has popped up. Presume he's a new character

eejittwo · 23/09/2020 19:19

Both Dave and Grace trying to force their daughters to marry unsuitable men.

Magi84 · 23/09/2020 20:01

Yes exactly two very different approaches trying to achieve the same end.

QueenOllie · 24/09/2020 00:47

I've never watched it before Blush and have just started. Flipped the thread so I didn't see any spoilers!

Magi84 · 24/09/2020 06:30

Hope you enjoy it Queen we certainly have over the years

QueenOllie · 24/09/2020 16:37

@Magi84 I am addicted! Keep thinking just one more episode then I'll go to bed... Grin

Magi84 · 24/09/2020 16:53

Exactly Queen know exactly how you feel. That's how we got hooked in 2014 and have been revisiting since. Welcome.😄

Ilovelblue · 25/09/2020 00:04

Hello Queen. We'd be very pleased to have you doing the watchalong with us (or even just commenting afterwards if you prefer). We're about to start on series 1, episode 1 on Tuesday at 9 pm. This is probably our favourite series, though the second one is pretty much up there thanks to the arrival of an extremely lovable Special Forces captain. (I won't spoil it for you).

QueenOllie · 25/09/2020 00:46

I'm on series 2, ep 2 so racing along Blush

Ilovelblue · 25/09/2020 07:37

Ooooh, one of our favourite scenes was the SF guys jumping out of the helicopter "the boys are back in town". Elvis is soooo gorgeous. Enjoy!

My heart races a teensy bit faster at the mere thought of that arrival. And the way he places his arm around her as they are winched up ....
Sigh!

Rhubarb01 · 29/09/2020 21:00

Evening - ready to go everyone?
