Can't wait to see if CV is wearing joggers...

OP posts:
3andnomore · 03/10/2007 14:46

it does, doesn't it...I thought yesterday, that compared to CV, gf actually is almost angelic...because, whilst I don't agree with her routines....she doesn't advocate the complete withdrawl of interaction in general...

witchandchips · 03/10/2007 14:51

yes there is a big big difference between cc at 6 months and leaving a newborn alone in a pram for 4 hours

3ScaryMonstersAndNoMore · 03/10/2007 14:55

thing is, the 4 hours outside wouldn't bother me...IF the Baby's were actually happy and content...I can see the benefits of fresh air and all that...BUT when they are screaming, etc...well, they obviously want something else...

witchandchips · 03/10/2007 15:00

sorry yes time outside looking at trees and birds yes
time outside crying and with nothing but the hood of the pram to look at no

glasgowgran · 03/10/2007 15:18

Channel 4 have found themselves another vile woman for the gallery of bitches they created after the Big Brother shameful behaviour.I would say Clare Verity has surely toppled Jade Goody and will now reign supreme as the most reviled and repugnant woman in the country. If it were cats or dogs being mistreated last night the RSPCA would be on to her by now.But it was just defenceless helpless babies being mistreated by her with the full permission of their foolish parents.UTTERLY SHAMEFUL !

witchandchips · 03/10/2007 15:20

but it looks as if CV advocates the continium concept for cats and doys
see this (posted on another thread)

"Verity loves animals, and has a house full of them; but they don?t receive the same treatment as her clients? babies: ?Cats, dogs, they rule the roost in my house,? she says. ?We?ve had to put a lock on the bedroom door because the cats swing on the handle and come in.? Doesn?t it drive you crazy, I ask? ?No,? she replies with a giggle"

WTF WTF WTF this woman is sick

Susianna · 03/10/2007 15:23

The bit where the mum lost her appetite, Ok I found it really really hard to stop myself thinking, 'stupid cow, go and pick up the baby' rather than 'poor woman has no clue what is happening to her child under this idiot's regime'.

The asian woman too. And her James Nesbitt husband. They seem to think they are trying something really cool but actually it is a load of sh*t.

Sitting there all glitzy saying 'kids happy at home' while CV was standing cackling outside their room while they shrieked and went purple wanting some human contact.

I really really feel she ought to be prosecuted for this stuff. My personal opinion but it is out and out sadism.

glasgowgran · 03/10/2007 15:34

I agree with you Susianna. She's a sadistic woman who should have her career brought to an abrupt end instead of making more money from her vile behaviour

yogimum · 03/10/2007 15:56

there is only one accredited "maternity nurse" qualification. It is run by qualified people such as midwives. It really is only a very experienced nanny with newborns. I call myself a maternity nanny and I would never wear a uniform. Maternity nurse is a very old fashioned term that seems to have stuck around.

yogimum · 03/10/2007 16:02

this one. mnttraining.co.uk. No way do they advocate the CV method. GF was on the reading list but not really advocated by them either.

yogimum · 03/10/2007 16:18

that link doesn't work but if you type it in it does. Or this one mynannynetwork.co.uk

theUrbanDryad · 03/10/2007 16:28

3and - i'm sorry for my comment. i did think it was a little harsh after i'd written it. will henceforth refer to her as spineless mother of twins. (i really am sorry, i was angry about the program, but that doesn't mean i should take the piss out of people with moles)

covenhope · 03/10/2007 16:53

I don't know much about twins but don't people normally put them together in their cot/pram so that they can see and touch eachother? I felt very sad to see them put foot to foot and separately, and the crying was heartbreaking

My DH says CV couldn't have been Truby Kinged herself or wouldn't have the brassneck to stand up to people (and I speak as one who was TKed and can't deal with conflict/ has huge self-esteem problems).

I was waiting for Rani's mum to grab those babies and run off with them!

3ScaryMonstersAndNoMore · 03/10/2007 17:13

Urban...was just a bit shocked and taken aback at that comment, iykwim...can understand though, as in getting carried away in anger!

Poohbah · 03/10/2007 19:26

I e-mailed the NSPCC yesterday. They have not responded. I wonder if they will have a conflict of interest as they advertise on Channel 4.

MadamePlatypus · 03/10/2007 19:56

My favourite CV bit was when she that some of the women she worked for couldn't breastfeed because they were a size 8 or 6!!!!!!! I really thought that had alot of comedy value.

LittleBella · 03/10/2007 20:13

Good on you Concetta.

Did someone mention Huggies? Can we put pressure on them not to sponsor this shit? Can we start a campaign to boycott them?

There is only one fucking language these bastards understand -cold hard cash. The damage to their brand of being associated with child abuse, is incalculable.

LittleBella · 03/10/2007 20:16

Oh and which paediatrician did they employ?

Roy effing Meadows? David "I can tell you kill babies just by seeing a TV interview with you" Southall?

Or some other glorious beacon of the paediatric profession?

kiskidee · 04/10/2007 06:29

lol, madame platypus. did she really say that? I wonder what my dd has been getting out of me for the past 2.5yrs then.

Susianna · 04/10/2007 07:02

I will be fascinated to see which of these children learns to smile first, what with all the eye contact hyperbole...

elliott · 04/10/2007 12:17

no time to plough through all this so apologies if it has already been mentioned, but I am really shocked at the apparent lack of regulation or protection for people participating in these programmes in terms of being virtually forced to do things that directly contravene expert evidence based guidance. This would not be allowed to happen in the context of a carefully conducted research project, so how is it allowed for the purposes of entertainment? I'm thinkign specifically about the baby sleeping recommendations which were not clearly explained to the viewer, and certainly didn't appear to be explained to the guinea pigs at all! You can't just present these as equally valid alternatives when there is strong scientific evidence that certain sleeping practices are safer...

This was the first time I had watched and had put down the slagging off of CV to typical mumsnet overreaction - but having seen her in action, words fail me....she hasn't an ounce of kindness or compassion in her - and she's chosen to work with BABIES when she clearly seems to hate them....

Mawma · 04/10/2007 12:28

what so sad is my friend had her first baby the day before the first programme was shown so she was so excited to watch it as her wee girl was only 1 day old and hoping to pick up lots of tips on routine, she has just watched the second and called me after watching it saying how confused and didn't know what method to choose.

Wtf she shouldn't feel as a new mother that she has to choose one of the stupid bloody programmes methods, personally i said to her not to watch the show and to disregard anything she watched in the 2 shows and to learn to get to know her baby

theUrbanDryad · 04/10/2007 12:32

elliott - while i agree with you, the sleeping thing wasn't explained to the guinea pigs at all (at least not that we saw) there is enough guidance out there from HV's and MW's that they shouldn't need it. i remember reading my birth to 5 book cover to cover when ds was born, and absorbed it to the point of being able to quote certain bits. i certainly knew that the recommendation was to sleep in the same room for 6 months! it seems to me that the parents have chosen to ignore the advice given to them by the medical profession and instead decided to listen to a TV celebrity! i feel so, so sorry for the babies, but i'm losing patience with the parents the more i think about it. they've chosen to do this to their babies. any damage inflicted will be their responsibility. i may not be the perfect mum, but my instinct to protect my child was (and still is) paramount, and you have to be a special kind of stupid to ignore that, IMO.

LittleBella · 04/10/2007 12:37

UrbanDryad - harsh, but fair.

I cannot understand how those parents think it's OK to abdicate responsibility and hide behind an "expert".

MadamePlatypus · 04/10/2007 13:25

Mawma, I think its sad that your friend has been left with the impression that anybody (except the people on the programme and some misguided rich people) would use Claire Verity's methods.

I would like evidence that any of Claire Verity's clients have exclusively breastfed.
