Couldn't see a new thread so started this one. So we're now into a show of two halves, edited together - pre and post lockdown! Who's shouting "before" "after" at each scene?

@Phyllidakettle

What about Maria saying she was just doing a number two when the phone rang! 😆.
I thought that was quite amusing, something you might easily say and then realise it's a double entendre. I like that daft humour on Corrie. Enders has never managed it.
Roussette · 01/08/2020 18:50

I like the daft humour too. It is what Corrie is great at.

I used to love Blanche and Deidre together. Their ping pong one liners were absolutely classic

PennyRoyal · 01/08/2020 18:55

Yes, I like the double-entendres and misdirection. It's a bit Carry On at times but makes me smile Grin

Funny as toothache! Grin
Corrie seems to have lost direction completely.
Does no one else watch it and feel that it's a bit disjointed?
Maybe it's just the times we're in.
Blanche is completely irreplaceable, and there's sadly been no one else like her since and it's been ages.

Roussette · 01/08/2020 20:27

Does no one else watch it and feel that it's a bit disjointed?

Totally agree. It just doesn't flow. And it's not just down to covid

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 01/08/2020 21:27

@TWAMSWIAO

If I hear thiiiiiiiirty yeaaaarrrrrsss one more time.

I didn’t watch it when Maria’s husband was killed by a driver but SURELY you’d make reference to that if your current partner was then hit by a car too? You’d certainly not be asking about being thrown through the air, it was like a something from a bad comedy that line.

Absolutely this, her child’s father was killed by a car, the questions she asked were ridiculous, as if she had not experienced anything like it before! I honestly despair of the writing sometimes and surely the actors themselves might highlight it to the scriptwriters, the same when Kevin “forget” he had a child that died, it’s so annoying, they treat viewers like idiots.
Roussette · 01/08/2020 21:49

I feel we could do a better job than some of the writers!

NCTDN · 01/08/2020 22:18

What was Geoff looking for in the pub?

Optimist1 · 01/08/2020 22:56

@NCTDN

What was Geoff looking for in the pub?
I thought he was trying to suss out where Tim's mum was staying. Then the creepy factor went 0-60 and I wondered if he was planning to frighten or intimidate Jenny, once he knew she was living there on her own. Vile man.
Honeyroar · 01/08/2020 23:14

Is Tim’s mum living at the pub?

PennyRoyal · 01/08/2020 23:19

@NCTDN

What was Geoff looking for in the pub?

Geoff saw Elaine, his ex wife/Tim's mum, on the street but lost sight of her. Then, the camera panned to doors of the Rovers that were gently swinging. Cue Geoff (and viewers) in believing she had entered the pub. Hence, he went into pub looking for her and then had to buy something to justify him being there.

I think.

I’m (in Canada) watching one of those compilation shows on the history of Corrie and caught a glimpse of Dean Fagan. He was really good and I was sorry he left the show (just when they got around to giving him something to do). He had a very mature, calming vibe.

PoloNeckKnickers · 02/08/2020 08:09

I agree, Ritascornershop It's a pity Luke was killed by Phelan. I wonder if it was the actor's decision to leave?

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 02/08/2020 15:22

20p put in a bra

Um Roussette I didn’t think it was Cathy’s bra the 20p was hidden in

Roussette · 02/08/2020 15:30

Eeeeek!

I need to wash that image out of my brain now ...!

PhoebeSnow · 02/08/2020 17:13

I think those of us who comment on here could write 100% better scripts for Corrie.

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 02/08/2020 19:52

Agree Phoebe and we would also manage to remember the characters back story unlike the scriptwriters and actors........

Ritascornershop · 02/08/2020 20:21

@PoloNeckKnickers - I think it was his choice? He wanted to do more theatre if I recall correctly. I liked how steady Luke’s character was, he seemed a safe pair of hands type.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 02/08/2020 20:34

I agree @Ritascornershop

PoloNeckKnickers · 02/08/2020 20:41

Luke was also very easy on the eye Wink

MrsR87 · 02/08/2020 20:42

Yes I was gutted when Luke left. He was a likeable character 😄

Ritascornershop · 02/08/2020 21:18

Yes, he’s a very nice-looking young man and a good actor too. I sensed he was capable of a lot more for ages and then finally got to show more as the Phelan thing dragged on. I saw him in Vera and he was good in that too.

Willowmartha1 · 03/08/2020 08:35

I think it feels disjointed because of the one episode rather than the two. So usually episode one ends on a bit of a cliffhanger than episode 2 comes on half an hour later whereas now we have to wait two nights to see the outcome !!
