I can't help feeling that Celeb MC as a format has run it's course. It was OK when the celebs could all make some sort of fist of cooking, but now the sole qualification seems to be being able to switch the microwave on... and having management representation.

There should be a minimum cooking bar to get over to be on - I think. If I want to watch incompetence in the kitchen I have examples who live with me...

I googled him earlier and it says he lost his sight aged 18 due to an eye disease.

First time commenting on this thread but I love it, and loved reading it last series too feel like I'm ear wigging on someone's group chat! My daughter has been in hospital having her appendix out and I've been catching up on the series then coming straight on here to read the comments whilst I've been in hospital with her.

1 Gregg needs to be convincing with his not knowing any of the dishes, 1 minute saying he's never heard of welsh cakes then the next commenting aren't they stodgy (or whatever he said!)

Yes she's much better now thank you! Long and scary week being in hospital especially with her dad and siblings not being able to visit and me not being able to leave to see them because of corona but we're home and she's recovering well.

I’ve always been a lurker on these threads and finally have something interesting to add!
The group challenge aired on Wednesday was filmed at my workplace.
I had the butternut squash thing made by the ladies and it was actually really good. However, Amar and Ghetin’s team seemed to be having much more fun and were well friendlier to the customers. The ladies were very stressed out, didn’t make eyecontact with the customers and were a bit abrupt. Amar and Ghetin seemed very relaxed. As we always suspected, Potato Head and John Torode do not get along that well, they had a very loud discussion about the intro and they sat apart in two different corners whenever the filming wasn’t taking place (despite there being enough large tables for them to sit together). This was all filmed just before lockdown.
Last but not least, the lady who was filmed saying scientific discoveries could be late if lunch was late; I’m pretty sure the production team made her say that. They always make people come out with crap like that! She is actually really lovely and friendly, and also a very intelligent and accomplished woman so I do feel bad for her being portrayed that way.

FWIW we always assume those managers saying how crucial it is to the economy not to serve the shepherd’s pie late are being made to say it and get ribbed forever for it by everyone they know. Your workplace looked lovely. I like how scientists get nice big white china bowls for food service rather than trays. Grin

Gregg’s questions for the benefit of the viewer really sound stupid, I agree. There must be a better way of getting explanations on screen. Although DH reckoned JT looked genuinely surprised when he asked what an Apple Charlotte is so there’s some basic acting going on somewhere.

I never really knew him and then a few years ago I saw him in Big Brother and he wasn't very nice, fine for the first couple of days and then his real personality came out.

Thegrey glad to hear she's much better, it's awful being in hospital any time but with the current situation is even harder.

Pancakeorcrepe insider information is always appreciated Grin I'm not surprised to hear that about John and Gregg, I always get the feeling they barely tolerate each other.

Extracurricular I had forgotten he didn't know what an apple charlotte was either, for someone who spends his life around food he's not very clued in.

I have a theory that they always show the deliberations in that weird face shot format because they actually refuse to be in a room together unless absolutely necessary, and film each half of the conversation separately!

Cant link but have you ever seen the spoof of Horrible histories, Historical Masterchef where Ben and Jim do John and Gregg? Its hilarious. check it out.

Gregg looks like a Bond villain! That's one of the creepiest grins EVER.
And Johns face looks like someones got a balloon pump in it and hes getting more and more puffy (I can say all this, cos, you know, I look like Cameron Diaz! HmmGrin- is this emoji Gregg?!)

Hope Judys cooking is better than her dancing.

Gethin doesn't seem very confident does he?
I don't like JP either, he was in celeb BB and don't come across as very nice.

Oh, and if they hadn't told us that was Lisa Faulkner I'm not sure I'd have recognised her. Is it just that her eyebrows were much darker? She looked so different.
