Anyone watching? The Sydney couple are never going to last. She’s so annoying, surely just on it to get on tv??

Have their ever been a couple from these shows that have stayed married?

Ah thanks I missed that. I thought it was a family illness. Don’t know where I got that from.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 22/07/2020 22:39

Sean is such a good man. Shame in those other cowards that said nothing.

I was particularly disappointed in Simon

Yesterday he was obviously shocked at Abandrew's behaviour - tonight he didn't support Sean when Sean spoke up for Cheryl. At one point I thought he was going to, but he chickened out. As did Army Andrew and Jesse - I thought they behaved very badly.

The hardest thing to do is speak an unpopular opinion first - Sean bit that bullet. It would then have beans much easier for Simen in particular, to support his testimony. And if Simon had spoken up, it would have given `Jesse (I want to be popular) and Army Andrew (I avoid any confrontation) "permission" to state what was said.

Spoonface Anthony and Abandrew are two very nasty men. It doesn't surprise me at all that neither of them can sustain a relationship. Sly, manipulative, gaslighting, passive-aggressive and malicious, both of them.

Neither of them take any responsibility for their own actions. Both of them are masters of the "non-apology". Anthony is cleverer - I think he's highly intelligent - and is doubly spiteful; Abandrew isn't nearly as bright, and he feels very sorry for himself because all the women in his life have been ball-breakers who have "done him wrong", and Anthony manipulates him. I think Anthony wants Abandrew and Cheryl out so he can present himself and Nadia as the "Golden Couple".

The Twins supporting "Jonesey" all the time make me sick! If they think he's so wonderful, why has neither of them sh*gged him when they know him so well.

I felt a bit sorry for Jesse - he's opened his heart to Michelle and now she's treating him like rubbish. The way he was attacking his food rather than try to join in her conversation was quite sad.

lilgreen · 22/07/2020 22:42

Simon did speak up eventually though could have said more.

Idontbelieveit12 · 22/07/2020 22:46

AbAndrew is disgusting 🤬 I think Cheryl shows real restraint and maturity when he is being such a tosser.

Idontbelieveit12 · 22/07/2020 22:47

Also think Lauren saw something she didn’t like after he’d had a drink on the wedding night.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 22/07/2020 22:54

Yes, sorry lilgreen - that's what I meant when I said I thought he was going to speak up but he chickened out. I didn't make myself clear.

I really thought he was going to to wade in on Sean's condemnation of what had gone on that night - but he turned into a wet lettuce.

It was pretty obvious though, from Nick's shifty denials, and Spoonface's "I must have been out of the room" that everything Sean said (and more) had happened. I thought Cheryl coped very well - Abandrew's attempts to switch the focus of "bad Guy" from himself to her didn't get anywhere. She kept right on point and she didn't lose her temper or break down (that surprised me a bit as she's spent much of her time in tears). She was wise to step out away from the drama with Sean and Susan.

dimples76 · 22/07/2020 22:54

I really didn't enjoy that episode. The whole Cheryl and Abandrew thing is ridiculous.

Poor Sean and shame on the other blokes (although Simon tried). How many episodes are left?

Do you think that Jesse was v drunk? Earlier his terrible attempt at humour made me cringe and then his contribution to the argument was v unclear.

Re the theory that Nadia has been hypnotised I can definitely buy that. Hearing Anthony boast about her cooking for him turned my stomach.

I really hoped army Andrew was about to speak up - v disappointed in that response. I think that it would make Vanessa question things more if she knew the full story.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 22/07/2020 22:59

Funny you should say that -there have been a few times during the series when I've thought that he'd been slurring his words and wondered if he had a problem with alcohol, but I wasn't sure if it was just his regional accent.

Nadia always looks as though someone has hit her with a wet fish, and that she wishes that she could just disappear and re-write her life to edit out the whole MAFS episode.

RandomMess · 22/07/2020 23:02

It is incredibly difficult to stand up to the group dynamic because you will be made an outcast. Sean and Susan are very self confident people and I think as they are a bit older have reached the point of not giving a flying f*ck of what others think of them.

They aren't interested in appearances and probably are shocked at the immaturity of most of the others. They are a very strong couple so that gives them strength. Simon and Arlene aren't there yet neither are Andrew and Vanessa - I don't think as a couple they have learnt how to share thoughts and feelings about that kind of stuff so still inward focused.

Honeyroar · 22/07/2020 23:02

I think they get the whole lot of them absolutely wankered in the hope they get more drama. You can really tell it’s made by the Big Brother company- they know how to start a war and keep it going!

OP posts:
Honeyroar · 22/07/2020 23:03

I think Sean was quite upset tonight when the two wankers turned on him and basically called him a liar.

LarkDescending · 22/07/2020 23:16

That was episode 18 of 29! Lots of twists and turns still to come I hope.

YettaTessieMarmelstein · 22/07/2020 23:22

Sean and Susan are both younger than Abandrew. I thought he was so nasty at the dinner. I don’t know how Cheryl kept calm.

1984andout · 22/07/2020 23:40

I wish one of them gave examples of what was said rather than the shitty 'got my back' narrative.

Abandrew has behaved horribly. Mimicking someone is childish and bullying.

One thing that keeps being shown as their 'connection' is the salt and pepper thing at the dinner table. Confused

Wtf? Surely they could find more examples of their spark??

InsertHilariousUserName · 22/07/2020 23:40

I was really impressed with Cheryl's mature responses. Contrasted even more with abandrews ridiculousness.
I think even the silly twins were a bit shocked when he mimicked Cheryl, maybe Jonesy Jonesy We Love Jonesy has fallen off his pedastal a bit with them

AnneOfQueenSables · 22/07/2020 23:45

I keep forgetting how old Abandrew is because he acts like such a petty child And I keep thinking Sean is much older than he is.
It was brave of Sean to speak up. It was such an awful, tense meal. If there are going to be more like that, I think I'll need a G&T to get me through them GinGrin

AnneOfQueenSables · 22/07/2020 23:47

The Australian recap gave an example of what was said but I'm not sure if I missed it or if we had a different edit because it's on earlier here or if the recap was joking.

Lardlizard · 22/07/2020 23:58

Only decent bloke is Sean suprised nicer Andrew n Simon didn’t really speak up about what nasty Andrew said

GertyTheGert · 23/07/2020 00:09

Sadly, because I love this prog, I now think quite a lot of it must be scripted. Cheryl refused to kiss "Jonesy" ie who doesn't kiss someone if they like/fancy them, YET she tells a story making out she is taking the relationship slowly etc etc. No, she doesn't fancy him and her father allegedly hates him so much that he was downright rude. In real life I know no person who would put up with that! So only if you're being paid to stay in that toxic relationship is mho. The twins are beginning to hiss me off - talk about fancy themselves! And Jesse ... well I thought he was acting drunk (quite badly) rather than drunk/drunk. Yet I still want to watch....! BTW my pal's friend's son was on a UK dating tv prog @ 2 yrs ago and he was told what to say/what to ask and had to rehearse it to get the nuances just right....... Bit like TOWIE.......

KurriKawari · 23/07/2020 01:31

Slovaaaaakia!!

WhenCoronaWasALager · 23/07/2020 06:25

If this is AnTHony and Abandrew on TV trying to make a good impression, imagine how awful they must really be.

lilgreen · 23/07/2020 07:28

If it’s scripted I’m really disappointed. Surprised anyone over 20 would agree to that. These shows can ruin your reputation, surely you want to be true to yourself? With Cheryl, she doesn’t seem very deep BUT I haven’t seen her be rude about Jonesy. Her dad was 100% vile and J should’ve walked away then and he would have had everyone’s sympathy. After that, he’s gone downhill, perhaps understandably and in defence of his ego but to mock and mimic her is not something most 38 yr olds would do even if told to.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/07/2020 07:37

Mimicking someone is childish and bullying.

Even for him, I thought this was shocking, and had I been one of the others his alone - without anything he may or may not have said - would have been enough for me to lose any liking and respect I had for him.

I was really impressed with Cheryl's mature responses. Contrasted even more with abandrews ridiculousness

So was I. I think the fact that Sean spoke up for her helped to give her confidence. Tismust have been so upsetting for her.

I do hope Abandrew gets his comeuppance!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/07/2020 07:40

If this is AnTHony and Abandrew on TV trying to make a good impression, imagine how awful they must really be.

Indeed.

If any woman has anything to do with either of them ever again, she should be certified!

lilgreen · 23/07/2020 07:48

As I’m late to the thread, how did you arrive at ABandrew to differentiate from quiet Andrew? I’m going with Jonesy in the twins’ accent.Grin
