seriously. i'm watching it now for work and it is terribly upsetting. Claire Verity says 'i'm a bitch, i'm mean to them but it works', no touching, no eye contact, lots of talking about 'baby', presumably because she can't be arsed remembering the name... oh it's AWFUL.

I will be glued to this and I KNOW that I will cry. I will cry for the poor babies who aren't being looked after the way their parents really want to look after them and for the parents who are being forced to go against their hearts
but I will still watch it and then I will join in to rid the world of the evil woman

kiskidee · 16/09/2007 21:22

apparently on saturday at the Harrogate baby show, she had security remove a woman who was a BF counsellor and refused to answer some questions. today she did not speak on a microphone and only spoke to a small group. It also sounds like they are still looking for families to take part in 'bringing up baby'.

kiskidee · 16/09/2007 21:22

I will watch it so that i can complain, complain, complain. And I don't want to watch it but will.

Aitch · 16/09/2007 21:33

the other two methods are lovely and benign by comparison, tbh. it's just CV that's awful. dh still bitching about her today...

Channel 4 should be ashamed of itself. This is the sort of shite I expect to see on BBC3.

Aitch · 16/09/2007 21:36

not quite. but i imagine there will be more in the future episodes. they put the three mentors in a room to fight every so often and the others are very disapproving of CV.

Was someone else not available?

Aitch - are you in danger of either a) outing yourself or b) getting fired becuase of this thread (and sorry, did the deadly sin and only scanned....)?

divastrop · 16/09/2007 22:01

i find it hard to believe that anyone can call themself a childcare 'expert' and go around giving downright dangerous advice to new parents

why isn't there a law against it?

as ive said on threads about SWMNBN,i find the idea of following child-rearing methods cooked up by somebody who doesnt have children utterly bizzare.how on earth can these stupid women pretend to know anything about bringing up babies?

Aitch · 16/09/2007 22:19

sorry waynetta... you may be right.

I think fern and phil might want to know about this....

Although, I'd not watn to give her any more air time....tis a shame......

hunkermunker · 17/09/2007 00:08

I think that if a bazillion parents are telling you "you cannot know what it is like to have children until you have children" then perhaps you should listen to them and go to live in France and work in a boulangerie.

Because parents weren't parents once. So they know what it's like both sides of that fence.

I dread to think how I thought things should be done before I had children. I've blotted that out of my mind because it's Far Too Embarrassing to contemplate...!

NadineBaggott · 17/09/2007 00:11

aye

Reality BITES!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 17/09/2007 00:13

Oh god yes.......

Can you imagine....

"Hi I'm Verity Claire, I've come to show you how to suck eggs. I've not sucked eggs myself. I dont have any, but take it as read I know better - I used to pluck chickens"

UnquietDad · 17/09/2007 00:13

That's the one thing the childfree totally fail to get, isn't it? It's a debate where we know both sides. Not all teetotallers have been drinkers, not all atheists have been believers, not all non-drivers were once drivers... But all parents have been non-parents. We're not dim. We've been there.

hunkermunker · 17/09/2007 00:15

ROFL!

It's still the utter lack of self-awareness or any knowledge of the storyline of Dodie Smith's book that gets me.

FFS, Cruella de Vil KILLED dogs. As in "made them dead". It's like calling yourself the Fred West of youth hostelling, no?

TotalChaos · 17/09/2007 00:15

oh good god, if I understand this thread correctly, there is going to be a programme using newborns in some wacko reality tv experiment. teensy bit unethical IMHO.

hunkermunker · 17/09/2007 00:16

Yep, totally, UD.
