Apologies if there's already a thread, but I couldn't see one. Anyone watching? Apparently this is a new series.

I'm waiting for the bench seats to make their inevitable appearance......Grin

Their old table and chairs don't look big enough for the space, but it's good to see an "undressed" room.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 05/05/2020 20:55

I love how his food prep is cracking open a bottle of wine Grin

Yubaba · 05/05/2020 20:55

I hate it

CoolCarrie · 05/05/2020 20:56

The snug looked like a doctor ‘s waiting room to me.

FlamingoAndJohn · 05/05/2020 20:56

Never any blinds or curtains

DH’s theory is that they make them take them down. In the last house the room at the front had curtain rails up but no curtains.

SimonJT · 05/05/2020 20:57

How on earth have they spent £130k even when you add in £20k for damp?!

BruceAndNosh · 05/05/2020 20:58

"put our stamp on it" Bring the bikes indoors and cover the surfaces with Stuff

bellabelly · 05/05/2020 20:59

CoolCarrie, my son and I just said the same thing about the snug - waiting room at the dentist.

SimonJT · 05/05/2020 20:59

A U shaped bench next week then

CoolCarrie · 05/05/2020 20:59

Bloody hell thats a lot of money for only the downstairs, don’t like the purple ,

I bet all the crap is upstairs

BruceAndNosh · 05/05/2020 21:00

Ah, a rewire and replumb would explain the spend

BruceAndNosh · 05/05/2020 21:10

The Wife's reaction to Laura's design reminded me of Mr Nosh when we got the first render back for our new kitchen.
All he could comment on was "I don't like the design of those seats they've put around the island" They weren't integral to the kitchen, they were only there to show there was space for 4. They could be whatever we chose, but he couldn't see beyond the artists impression.

screamer1 · 05/05/2020 21:15

Oh my god they've murdered her design

CoolShoeshine · 05/05/2020 21:24

Is it wrong that I think I could do a better job than both the architects?

Cruddles · 05/05/2020 21:34

This whole week was underwhelming: a big budget, a big area to do pretty much anything, Laura does the same as always, it's Robert's to win if he does his usual mega open space, and he manages to make it even more cramped. And then the execution of it was so bland. This week just lacked anything interesting

Missushbb · 05/05/2020 21:47

Am I the only person who doesn't have twenty people over all the time? Grin
A lot of the couples seem to be renovating their homes for other people

BruceAndNosh · 05/05/2020 21:49

I would have loved to have seen Roberts idea for the top floor studio made reality

CoolShoeshine · 05/05/2020 21:55

Im puzzled why the architects make an oversized room at the back of the house but it’s always at the expense of the front room. Surely it would be better to create a more balanced floor plan with a nice living room at the front overlooking the street? The snug looked liked a forgotten, leftover space.
And the poor chap had no say in anything at all, it was like it wasn’t his home. Bet he’d have liked a nice comfy living room with a squishy armchair next to the fire, a downstairs shower room and a study with the potential to add a single bed for when he can’t get up the stairs.
And don’t get me started on the 20 plus guests who come over - lots of space for them to dance around their handbags in the kitchen area but no decent sized sofas!

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 05/05/2020 22:26

Gobsmacked that Robert didn’t win this week. And they had so much junk. I said to dh where are they putting the 20 people - the kitchen table was tiny compared to the size of the new kitchen.

And the staircase - I’m limited mobility & I wouldn’t be able to go up the staircase Laura designed.

Wasn’t impressed this week at all. Time for new architects. And no bench seating.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 05/05/2020 22:32

It was a very strange one this week, if they had just got rid of their crap and tidied up it would have made a world of difference, to me they didn’t appear to be a very happy couple, in fact it seemed like they barely tolerated each other, I think Robert picked up on this and that’s why he created the studio apartment, so one of them could live separately but under the same roof.

Laura’s design was nice but I was disappointed with how they did the floor, the tiles should have been how Laura designed them, not surrounded by horrible black cheap looking tiles, the staircase, though practical, really jarred but I can understand why they did it, the snug looked like a care home, it even had NHS green walls, the kitchen did nothing for me at all and they needed a sofa, the table looked completely lost in the space. They said it’s a forever home but I really don’t think the house suited them at all, at some point they will need a one level house......or possibly two houses.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 05/05/2020 22:35

I agree with Missushbb how often do they have 20 people over at the same time, people really should design their houses for themselves and not others.

Robert can't seriously think he's ever going to win though. He must know most people are total normies who don't want to sleep in 'pods' the size of coffins. He's just there as the wild card option and he knows it.
