Nothing so nice about Alex as his manner of going. Very gracious

Binglebong · 29/04/2020 21:58

But the front is not matched!!!

Haggisfish · 29/04/2020 21:58

Tough love?!

Jellykat · 29/04/2020 21:58

Oh fgs, really not difficult to pattern match with those pockets.
Really thought the pintuck shirt shoulda won

GertiMJN · 29/04/2020 21:58

Why dont they mind that the pattern doesn't match on the front of that shirt ? (Garment of the week)

HMSSophie · 29/04/2020 21:58

See you all next week. Stay well

MoltenLasagne · 29/04/2020 21:58

Yes the models look like they're not very comfortable

SoupDragon · 29/04/2020 21:58

The pockets on Banker's shirt were amazingly done

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/04/2020 21:59

I enjoyed that. See you next week.

dillite · 29/04/2020 22:00

The right person went

BestIsWest · 29/04/2020 22:00

Does anyone know where the Venice fabric in the first round was from?

Hepzibar · 29/04/2020 22:00

Right decision. Look forward to next week - turning into my Lockdown highlight of the week

Roussette · 29/04/2020 22:01

I think pintuck should have won too, but pockets were good on winner

dillite · 29/04/2020 22:01

I think that pin tuck shirt should have been GotW- banker's shirt's front didn't patter match which was quite distracting

ssd · 29/04/2020 22:01

Some of those beach shirts were brilliant, I'm late here but I enjoyed it tonight.

Roussette · 29/04/2020 22:02

Highlight of my week too!

Jellykat · 29/04/2020 22:05

Sewing Bee is such a wonderful distraction from RL!
See y'all next next week..

Halsall · 29/04/2020 22:06

I can find a version with a black background, @Binglebong, but not the white.....

RomaineCalm · 29/04/2020 22:08

See you next week.

Binglebong · 29/04/2020 22:08

Ooh thanks Halsall, good price too! Grin

Question for the actual sewers - how hard is it to do what they're doing? Not the complicated pattern matching but sewing the basic shapes? When I watch Bake Off, I generally think I could cook the basic sponge etc. but it's the decoration that makes it impressive. Is it the same here - most people could follow the basic pattern, but the real technique is in the pattern matching and invisible zips?

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/04/2020 22:20

There are YouTube videos that explain the techniques like invisible zips - I don't think they were invented when I was at school. Pattern matching takes patience and extra fabric. I find certain points on the corresponding pattern pieces, like both side seams, and make sure they match. Probably easier to do than explain in words.

Haggisfish · 29/04/2020 22:28

Yes I think so. There is a definite skill in being able to read a pattern and operate a machine in the different ways they do. Extras like collars, pockets, pattern matching and hand sewing are the added extras that separate good from very very good.

Binglebong · 29/04/2020 22:53

Basic pattern isn't too hard. Making it fit is.

KatyMac · 29/04/2020 23:19

Some stuff you just need to be shown (well I do) Full bust adjustment for example - I have read and watched videos and read and only really understood it after a thrown away line at a course - 7 words changed my whole way of fitting

Stretch fabric dance man is because dance clothes are normally stretch - I massively struggled making a dance dress for DD last year as the fabric she wanted was woven - It took days to get my head around it!!
