Can someone summarise series 3 for me please? I’m not good at following the plots of things.

Kenny was killed, presumably by the 12, who he was investigating in his new job at a news website.

V is still working for the 12, and her new handler is the woman who trained her, played by Harriet Walter with a terrible Russian accent. V is living in Barcelona and wants a job promotion. She’s made a few hits and was assigned to mentor a newbie assassin but he was crap so she had to kill him.

Konstantin told her that her family were still alive so she went to visit them. Her brothers were cool but the others were nasty to her and her mum rejected her, so V burned their house down and killed everyone except her brothers, who she left a ton of cash.

She also visited London (on a hit) where she confronted Eve on a bus, and snuck into Eve’s house to plant a teddy bear.

Eve is working at a Korean restaurant and also working with Kenny’s old co-workers to investigate his death.

Russian Harriet Walter killed Nico and made Eve think V did it, to try to drive a wedge between them.

Konstantin stole loads of money from the 12 and is trying to cover it up. He gave Carolyn’s daughter a bugged fridge magnet so he can spy on her and is maybe Kenny’s dad.

EnidSugden · 19/05/2020 01:39

Thank you!

Questions - V wants to be a keeper. What’s the difference between a handler like Konstantin and a keeper?

Why if she’s been promoted to Keeper is she still being given kills?

CashewNut11 · 19/05/2020 07:18

I don't think this is going to end well for Konstantin.

If he is Kenny's father, it's not a good look to get Carolyn's daughter emotionally involved so that he can keep tabs on Carolyn (and, now, I imagine, her boss's) movements. Carolyn screaming into a pillow is the least of it...

notchickenagain · 19/05/2020 08:46

Why did Carolyn throw Konstantin's wallet out of the window and why didn't he get mad? There are so many of these little questions every episode that I try to let them wash over me but this annoyed me for some reason! And even then he didn't get angry getting dumped miles from anywhere! Must be true love....

lotusbell · 19/05/2020 20:19

Nico isn't dead!

lotusbell · 19/05/2020 20:21

Is he???

CatAndHisKit · 20/05/2020 00:25

Hmm watched ep.6 yesterday, thought it was all a bit of a mess, especially jumping locations in one second, hace rewatched more carefully - not bad but there is this shift that I don't really like.
.
I don't like that V is suddenly sooo dissatisfied with her lot - how and when did this come from suddenly? Is it because she's broody re Eve- but she showed no attempt to reconnect with her since the bus.
Where is this going, if she doesn't like the kills - neither the 12 nor Konstantin will make her the boss who decides who to kill, if THAT what she wants.

And please, why do we need a 14 yr old to be the new It girl and a killer - noooo! She's not a proper actress yet and it looks very unconvincing, and no I don't want the kid to team with with V for future kills urgh! It will all become yet more like a 'kids play' style show.

Thank God Carolyn was on great form - enjoyed that! LOVE it when she's angry - K was scared as hell in that car haha. I also loved how she ook charge with her daughter - can't believe it came out that she actually kissed K, wtf!
notchickenagain they used to be lovers so he gives her leeway but also he bloody respect her genuinely, even while being told to spy on her. He did get mad a bit but he's got good self control AND he does feel guilty, remember, as he's spying on her.

Crinkle we were right that the guy overseing Carolyn is working for the 12. I wonder what did K do wit hthat email from the accountant's wife and was it him stealing the millions or is it that he's just onto someone. Apart from that, not sure Kenny asking him whether he's the father, has anything to do with K's death - Eve told her that K was investigating the12's finances and got some info - I think Carolyn thought K may have made Kenny move the money, and I thought maybe he did - but no because the 12still don't know who did htat. That's the only interesting angle at the moment for me, as the rest went off the rails a bit!

CatAndHisKit · 20/05/2020 00:26

P.S. It's ridiculous that anyone could survive that pitchfork through their neck -and he's suddenly in St.Pancras, airlifted by plane?

lotusbell · 20/05/2020 09:41

@CatAndHisKit, a lot of it defies belief though - the constant travel and jumping from.location to location within a short space of time, V getting jobs which enable her to kill (gardening job which allows her to kill the accountant's wife etc).
I'm also a bit dissatisfied with the change in Villanelle's character, she's becoming unravelled. Now that Kenny has gone, my favourites remain Carolyn and Konstantin. Konstantin's daughter is awful, with that stupid haircut. I liked her in the way seasons but she's too shouty! And Geraldine is quite annoying, not the best character for Gemma Whelan, imo.
I did enjoy Nico's "Piss off forever" at the beginning Grin

lotusbell · 20/05/2020 09:42

early seasons

notchickenagain · 20/05/2020 10:18

As far as Eve is concerned, does she still think Nico sent the messages to her?

SinisterBumFacedCat · 20/05/2020 10:52

No Eve and the two guys from Kennys work discussed Dasha sending the texts so she knows he didn’t send them.

notchickenagain · 20/05/2020 11:15

Ah ok

EnidSugden · 20/05/2020 11:19

Can anyone explain what a keeper is as opposed to a handler and why Villanelle hasn’t been promoted to one despite the champagne/congrats from the other woman?

MontyBowJangles · 20/05/2020 13:54

Just found this thread and have been nodding along.

Totally agree the plot this season is... Well... Not really there or clear?

They've gone from writing the location of the character in massive block capital letters like this

LONDON
BARCELONA

To not doing it. Probably because it would have taken half the episode up on Monday. How did Nico survive a pitchfork through the neck, in Poland, then end up in London. How does Vilanelle travel so quickly from London/Romania/wherever Konstanti's daughter lives?!

No-one really actually cares about Eve anymore, do they?

IntermittentParps · 20/05/2020 17:41

The Russia episode was quite good fun and I like Dasha because I worship the ground Harriet Walter walks on.

But overall this series seems a bit aimless. And I really miss Kenny.

I'm sticking with it only for Carolyn and her knitwear and her cactuses Grin and Fiona Shaw's impeccable acting. It's a masterclass.

MamOfTwo · 20/05/2020 18:20

Have loved this series from the start but what's with the new flashing up of character names and, even worse, the statements "This is bullshit"?! Also V's blood on the floor after that botched Romanian kill... is that going to be her downfall? Agree that Fiona Shaw is an acting masterclass in action!

SpooniesAreGo · 20/05/2020 20:00

I was an extra in s1 and I got to sit 5ft away from Fiona Shaw (the scene in the club where we see her and Konstantin together for the first time).

I adored the Russian episode but it felt like it had been dropped in from a completely different tv show.

Oblomov20 · 20/05/2020 20:11

Eh?
How are you all getting episode 6?
And I'm not?

SpooniesAreGo · 20/05/2020 20:24

It’s released on iPlayer a week before it’s on regular telly.

CatAndHisKit · 20/05/2020 21:38

lotus haha could have written every word of your word, except to say I find C's daughter HUGELY annoying - why can't she move out, it's ridicullous to say 'we've only got each other' - as relatives , yes, but you don't have to suffer each other, there aer other people. y'know!

Enid they aer trying to trick her, they have no reason or desire to promote her as she's irreplaceable as the killer. There's limited number of keepers (those who decide which people to kill) - possible 'the 12' are the 12 keepers, they don't need her as one. A runner supervises/helps the assasin but doesn't make major decisions, they can interfere a bit if they see fit (like K does).

Konstantin will be going soon - so regularly he clutches at his heart - it's all getting way too much for him, especially as he's the constant 'surprise!' target Grin - or he'll retire and just direct but no more running around.

The guy overseeeing Carolyn is such a creep.

Love Harriet Walters, her accent is acrually much more 'russian' than Vilanelle's. But I worship Fiona Shaaw now - it crept up on me and I now hang on her every word, haha! She never just waffles on. The epitome of a BOSS.

CashewNut11 · 20/05/2020 23:20

Seems to me the 'storyline' of this series, unlike 1 and 2, is not being driven by assassinations and hits, but by 'family'. From the first episode we had Eve visiting Nico as the only break in her reduced existence, but then it was that shocking, tragic ending of Kenny's death that set wheels in motion.

Now we've got K and his daughter heading to Cuba, the friction between Carolyn and her daughter, Villanelle's homecoming and of course Eve pining for Nico. Even talk of the 12's missing funds and Kenny's investigation were overshadowed by Carolyn and K's high speed, 'nerve wracking' discussion of parentage.

I'm just trying to see how this series could end and lead into series 4. Is/does Villanelle get pregnant? Will Eve be Godmother...? Grin

CatAndHisKit · 21/05/2020 00:36

Cashew I commented earlier that the massive 'family' focus (for all characters) is what wouldnt have happened if a man wrote it (a man who wasnt filming a family saga as a genre of the serious, I mean!) - but some disagree.
Waller-Bridge wouldn't have gone htis route either, she's great as she's unconventional, she looves thedisfunctional family aspect (as in Fleabag) but it never is the main point with her. Sorry but we are now descending into the conventional - and boring.

I think it's fine to have a family element in a thriller, but the new writer has gome OTT. To the point as you say, that it's hte main focus. Come on, it's ridiculous that C's daughter wouldn't move out just because they are a family ffs!
The whole thing used to be Eve-Vilanelle tension and games, and the shocking assignments, and yes it's hard to keep thinking of the new plot lines, but they need to keep it on point! I still hope it makes the right turn again.

CatAndHisKit · 21/05/2020 00:37

*genre of the series

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 21/05/2020 10:02

Villanelle's murders are seeming to have lost their 'clean kill' element which is significant, no (as if she's losing her touch or motivation)? She was going to kill Bertha in the garden but then got embroiled in that 'chase me, chase me' game before strangling her with rope, and the most recent one ended up with her getting injured too. She's losing her touch.
