The new series starts tonight and Jim has got a new dog! I can't wait Grin

Who was expecting Lucy to be the same person?

You know that there is going to be a mix up with the Lucy’s later on.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/03/2020 19:36

I agree @halfbakedkate, so many classic episodes. I think my all time favourite is probably the one with Bitchface - "she died... in the Mercedes"!!

I didn't realise until just before this series started that the actress who played Grandma had died Sad

TyneTeas · 30/03/2020 19:39

Good interview with Robert Popper Grin

halfbakedkate · 30/03/2020 20:05

@QueenOfTheAndals oh that's one of our faves and anything with Mr Morris in. In our house if we ever say Mercedes, it's pronounced 'mercaydeeeeees'. Can't wait for the next episode. Just the tonic at the moment.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/03/2020 20:30

Oh yes, Mr Morris "SLANDERERS" 😂😂

stockpilingallthecheese · 30/03/2020 21:02

The one with the fox is the funniest thing ever! Also love the one with Mr Morris - bloody punk rockers Grin

spiderlight · 31/03/2020 10:23

No more horrible Grandma then? :( She was brilliant.

I was expecting the girlfriends to be the same person as well.

Patch23042 · 31/03/2020 10:31

I think that it was the other elderly actress who died - the grandma who was engaged to Mr Morris. Not sure though.

Hoping that Tracy Ann Obernan will be in a couple of eps. They’re so convincing as best mates.

One of my favourite guest actors was Jason Watkins as Martin’s old university “friend”. I also liked the sarcastic piano tuner.

QueenOfTheAndals · 31/03/2020 10:37

Jason Watkins is brilliant in everything, a really underrated actor.

midsomermurderess · 31/03/2020 15:03

It was the actress who played Jakie's mum, Nelly Buller, who died. Frances Cuka.

Carouselfish · 31/03/2020 15:07

I loved the last two series, but couldn't help thinking Martin and the older brother (not with glasses, can't remember name) AND Jim had sort of forgotten how to be the characters. Happens sometimes when there's a break. Bit disappointed.

spiderlight · 31/03/2020 15:08

Awww - she was fab! :(

ALovelyBitOfSquirrel · 31/03/2020 20:03

Hello all, you look nice! Glad it was well received! Good to have them all back.

Fckingfuming · 31/03/2020 20:48

@AlpineSnow
Did anyone see Mark Heap on The Trouble with Maggie Cole shoehorning in the word "Shalom" into the script?
YES! I said to DD "I bet that's a nod to FND"Grin

DareDevil223 · 01/04/2020 21:06

So good to have it back. Martin is the funniest thing ever. My favourite line?

"Who's the fittest? How would I know? Have you tried racing them against each other?" Welcome back Friday Night Dinner Grin

Chinks123 · 01/04/2020 21:26

Going against the grain here but I was quite disappointed with it. I love Friday night dinner, and we’ve been watching it pretty much every day since lockdown Blush so I was really excited but I just felt it was a bit..forced? I believe in every other episode they are actually Martin/Jackie/Jim and the comedy is so natural. I felt like I was watching them ‘try’ to be their characters?

Maybe it’s because I watched it with dp who can’t stand it and muttered “this is so rubbish” every two minutes.
Still have a crush on Tom Rosenthal though, and I’ll still be watching Friday. Shalom

Oliversmumsarmy · 02/04/2020 13:27

Chinks123 Your dh can’t stand it?

Must admit there are several programmes that state they are comedies and are widely watched, celebrated and win huge awards that I don’t get and don’t understand and find intensely irritating when I have tried to watch them but how can anyone not like FND.

Cholera and The Water People.
Jim definitely has some classic lines and the best dogs

MsVestibule · 02/04/2020 14:38

@Chinks123 I HATE it when people do that! I was once watching an American comedy when my BIL was in the room. All he kept saying was 'do you actually think this is funny?' which just spoiled my enjoyment of it.

Purpleorangegerberas · 02/04/2020 14:42

Shit on it this is amazing news! Absolutely LOVE friday night dinner, shallommmm!

Figrollsaplenty · 02/04/2020 14:43

I found the brother without glasses had changed, he sounded really forced. Im sure he spoke quite normally before?

I realised that Milson is just the W of Wilson turned upside down, which is sweet Bear

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/04/2020 15:00

What happened to the dog Jim got to replace Wilson originally? (Watson, I think it was called)

I haven't had a chance to watch the news series yet - looking forward to it.

Chinks123 · 02/04/2020 15:13

Yes @Oliversmumsarmy he thinks it’s rubbish. He calls it ‘slapstick comedy’ and that they’re not funny Angry Usually I watch it with dd who thinks it’s amazing but dp caught it as it was on at 10.

@MsVestibule I know it’s so annoying! He had a blank face and kept saying “I don’t know how you watch this.” Although he did laugh at Martins suggestion of racing them.

Watched it with dd the day after and she said it was her favourite one ever.

Chinks123 · 02/04/2020 15:14

@SchadenfreudePersonified Watson was a cat he was babysitting for his brother, before Wilson died. Halo

Chinks123 · 02/04/2020 15:17

Or cat sitting should I say.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/04/2020 15:49

Ah - thanks Chinks - I should re-watch the old series - I've obviously got myself mixed up.
