The new series starts tonight and Jim has got a new dog! I can't wait Grin

I think some of the funniest episodes have been when they've had a guest actor, The Return of mr Morris, the two tonys, the other jackie. I liked the tattoo episode the Anniversary

CuriousCatCatcher · 05/04/2020 02:07

I watched some of the old series yesterday and Jonny definately spoke normally, and less face pulling.

CaptainMyCaptain · 05/04/2020 07:30

It has never been subtle but I think they've gone too far in this series.

TheNinjaWife · 05/04/2020 08:25

@SunshineDays2019
Found you here, thanks.
I love this show. There were a few episodes I didn’t enjoy as much. I thought the one with the little girl and the make-up made for uncomfortable viewing.
My favourites include the one with the fox and Bugsy ending up in the lawnmower. Oh, and the red paint!
In regards to the dogs, my favourite laugh out loud moment was the replacement cat!

RaraRachael · 05/04/2020 10:30

I don't really like episodes that focus on Jim too much. He's ok just coming to the door for a bit of silly banter, but find him quite an irritating character if he's got too bit a role in an episode.

SunshineDays2019 · 05/04/2020 10:58

Hello theNinjaWife! Smile

I didn't like the episode with the little girl either.

Callo · 05/04/2020 13:34

They said in an interview that there was more violence in the new series which I've noticed. It makes it funny though

LHMBF · 05/04/2020 19:01

So many hilarious episodes. I love the ep where Jim has his date round and he sniffs the pepper and sneezes.

TheNinjaWife · 05/04/2020 19:21

@LHMBF so funny the way Jim wrongly assumes these are all Jewish customs? Like drinking the salted water. Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/04/2020 19:28

@LHMBF "She was nice... until she wasn't nice"

TheNinjaWife · 05/04/2020 19:28

In many ways Friday Night Dinner reminds me of another all time favourite of mine, Seinfeld. In the way if you watch a single episode out of context it seems ridiculous, but the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Callo · 06/04/2020 00:22

LHMBF I liked it when Jim's date was in a room on her own with the door closed and was still laughing!

LHMBF · 06/04/2020 10:41

Lol that's funny when he puts the salt in the water.
And his date laughing in the bedroom. Martin: "she's still bloody laughing". 😂

Davros · 10/04/2020 23:11

rararachael I couldn't agree more. I really don't like the Jim character and think it would be vastly improved without him or a better character instead of him. Surely he's got some sort of learning disability (not funny) or he hasn't and is just very far fetched and stupid (still not funny). The rest of it is great, especially Martin. We've only recently started watching FND on Netflix because DH is North London Jewish and we thought it would be naff and make us squirm. However, it's very accurate! Apart from the food which we think would almost always be chicken or salmon. We're on series 4 so plenty more to see.
Tom Rosenthal is good in Plebs which is brilliant too

rainbowcakes · 11/04/2020 06:37

Is it just me or was last night's episode the shittest one out of all 6 seasons? So disappointed!

wonderpants · 11/04/2020 06:53

I didn't think last nights was great and I LOVE FND.
No bambinos and no squirrel either in this series. Love those, makes me feel all warm and at home with them.

CaptainMyCaptain · 11/04/2020 07:28

This series is not as good as the others. Too far fetched, I think the phrase is 'jumped the shark'.

Ivebeentohellanditscalledikea · 11/04/2020 08:01

I'm really not liking this series and last night's episode was awful. I think they are all too far fetched and I swear Jim wasn't as over the top in the earlier episodes.

SeaOtterFluff · 11/04/2020 08:28

I really didn't like last night's. Was it written by someone completely different?

Deathraystare · 11/04/2020 08:32

Oh I love Jim though he makes me cringe and squirm! Imagine him being your neighbour. You would certainly be in self-imposed lock down all the time.

LHMBF · 11/04/2020 09:57

I'm not enjoying this series, it doesn't seem the same and lasts night's was rubbish

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/04/2020 10:20

It wasn't the best episode though I was most surprised to see someone I know play Martin's mate from school!

MsVestibule · 11/04/2020 10:33

I wasn't impressed with last night's episode and I am a huge fan of the show. I almost felt as though I was forcing myself to laugh. I'll stick with it, though!

Optimist1 · 11/04/2020 10:59

I agree with PP - this was the weakest episode in this series. I was so looking forward to seeing Sally Phillips in it, but they made her a grotesque character.
