Okay, I wouldn't normally start an SCD thread this early but Kevin's left and it has just been announced that AJ will leave. This after the BBC announced the returning pros for next season.

That means if Graziano and Gorka have a partner this year, then there will be no male back up pros. I still think Michael from TGD might get asked to join.

What do fellow SCD fans think?

I usually only know about 3 or 4 of the celebs, and sometimes my favourites end up being the ones I’ve never heard of (except the You Tubers, it’s never the You tubers).
I really enjoyed the show when they had he normals on (for Comic Relief?).

I would like to see Adam Hills or Richard Osman on it - both have disabilities which might make it hard for them but both are very entertaining.

What's Richard Osmans disability?

I would love to see Michael Ball in it.

My absolute dream is Ant and Dec, though it'll never happen.

I'm not keen on the British version becoming the Mabuse show, but I don't know Oti's husband so perhaps I should watch him first - it was touted a few weeks ago that he may join, I did wonder if that tipped Kevin (although he had a lead role in a big production to go to) and AJ to leave. AJ is a good dancer but I'm not keen on him and Curtis doing everything together either tbh!

Of the current crop of dancers, Graziano has really grown on me last year.

I've read that they haven't signed anyone up yet so the series may be in doubt. Who would I like to see on it? Rylan would be fantastic but I don't think he'd do it! There are a few athletes with no Olympics to do although the thought of injury might put them off especially the ones still competing like Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Laura Kenny (formerly Trott). Dame Kelly Holmes. Helen Glover would be good - her husband has done Strictly previously (Steve Backshall).

And I would love to see the early series again, with Lilia, Hannah and Killer Killick!

I adore him though. He'd end up with Nadija, as he is super tall (6 ft 7 iirc, Greg Davies is 6 ft ?) but I can imagine him doing a lovely American Smooth. Maybe him, Alexander Armstrong, Bradley Walsh, Victoria Cohen, Anne Robinson and Rochelle Humes could do a one-off sport relief one, although the latter did Xmas and comic relief already didn't she?

Has Ben Fogle ever done it? He seems lovely, I've been watching his 4pm adventure classes at the moment. I think he'd be a good signing.

I like him - he supported James last year and stuck up for him when there was a non-story bs about him being a bad loser. It would be nice for Ben to have a go and see if he can last longer.

In an interview, AJ hinted at becoming a presenting duo like Ant and Dec with his brother, and how Strictly took so much time up. I quite liked Curtis on TGD,he was always warm and friendly to the contestants. Always felt with AJ it was more about him.

I agree about Giovanni being consistently impressive. He does some brilliant choreography and seems to be lovely with his partners. It's bad luck that he's never won though he's got to the final a few times.

I'll join you on your thread. My thoughts,

1). BBC should put all old episodes on iPlayer. I'd love to see the older ones with Brucie again.
2). Did they announce they're going to have a gay couple on?

I won't miss AJ at all. Sorry AJ but he's devoid of interest and personality AFAICS.
I loved Artem – what a sweetheart – but agree he wouldn't want to come back.
I like Gorka, especially in Pissy Gorka mode, and would love him to have a partner.
Johannes is lovely and a wonderful dancer.
Aljaz is sweet and a real gentleman.

Of the women, I love Oti, Amy, Karen and Katya. I'd like old Katya back too, the rather salty Canadian woman.

Surely it won't be on or will be pushed back this year? They'd be needing to sort out who was on it now, if they hadn't started already, and with such uncertainty I don't think they'd risk starting the process. Unless everyone can train via Zoom or something, at least initially.

I reckon Steph McGovern is a Mumsnetter. On her show today (The Steph Show), she was interviewing Stacey Dooley, and then asked about Kevin, and referred to him as Kevin-From-Grimsby!

Sadly I cannot see it happening this year.
Even if we see a lifting of restrictions in 3 months - when the pros start rehearsing- it's widely thought there may be a second wave later. Logistically it would be a nightmare to coordinate.

It was Brucie that started it, he had (verbally) tripped over all the Russian names of the new professionals and said 'Kevin from Grimsby' in relief/elation when he got to Kevin.

I would love to see Victoria CM & David Mitchell , Alexander Armstrong, Jane Macdonald, Graham Norton, Keeley Hawes, Rylan, Jay Blades, Cherry Healey- I'm sure there are more !

Karen on the one show right now showing her videos of her and her bf doing exercise for people to follow online. She has a big sparkler on her ring finger! Wonder if she's engaged. I love her

I went to see Gorka and Karen's Firedance just before the lockdown. Karen absolutely shone on stage. She was stunning and such a beautiful dancer. I kept forgetting to watch Gorka.

I would also like to watch an earlier series. Maybe they could pick the latter weeks from various years so we don't have to sit through the bad ones.
