Never heard that phrase either @FrancisCrawford!

SoupDragon · 04/04/2020 13:39

I think I've heard the god in nappies one but only rarely. I do, at least, know what it means!

LunaFortuna · 04/04/2020 15:03

Re the mum with the son who came in and the storyline didn’t go anywhere - wasn’t there one like that a week or two before where someone came in with a child who had taken too many paracetamol? That storyline also went nowhere. Could it be the same person? I’m probably just overthinking things as too much time on my hands!

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/04/2020 22:41

Anyone watch ?

What did Ethan get

I shall view during week

Well the lad with global development delay came back and had a UTI this time. Wonder whether we'll see him again. Felt sorry for Marty but he totally doesn't get what a good friend Jade is. Thought something was going to happen with Noel on the bike, like collapse or something. But of a non story there. Was really glad not to see Charlie.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/04/2020 12:19

"Well the lad with global development delay came back and had a UTI this time* I would imagine his repeat visits are going to build into a big story?

Marty is just all 'me, me, me'. Jade is the reverse. She deserves a good, positive storyline.

Handbaghag · 05/04/2020 18:57

I wonder whether GDD boy will turn out to have a mum with Munchausens by proxy 🤔

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 06/04/2020 08:31

@Handbaghag I'm with you on that.

CherryValanc · 06/04/2020 11:00

We're probably due a Munchausens by proxy. It seems likely, whatever it is one of the staff will make genius discover possibly by publicly googling on the computer in public!!

bakedbeanzontoast · 07/04/2020 21:34

I was unimpressed with the way the show demonised the HIV+ guy in the last episode.

I'm just a bit touchy about that particular subject I guess. I know what you mean though.

Just caught up...

I’m guessing there was some kind of drug that Marty took then counteract the unprotected sex - does the drug completely abolish all chances of him being infested or does it just reduce the chance?

QueenofmyPrinces · 12/04/2020 14:13

infected -not infested.

FairfaxAikman · 13/04/2020 10:09

You can take a short course of drugs (PEP, or post-exposure prophylactic) to try and prevent the infection taking hold but the window for it is incredibly short - something like 72 hours.

QueenofmyPrinces · 13/04/2020 10:23

I hope the storyline evolves as him having contracted HIV because I think only then will it only lead to educating people about the risks of unprotected sex.

If they write it that he doesn’t get the virus then it kind of comes across as, don’t worry about having unprotected sex, you can just get some PEP afterwards and problem solved. I just don’t think it would be a very responsible way forwards.

Marty’s attitude really bothered me actually when he and Jade were going to the pub at the end of the episode and he was back on the dating site, laughing about going on a date with a “hot guy” - if I’d had recent exposure to HIV in the manner he’d had, I can’t imagine I’d be laughing all the way to the pub whilst setting up another casual date.

I just found it very unrealistic and it made me feel a bit angry for some reason.

SoupDragon · 13/04/2020 10:45

I'm not sure Casualty's target audience is the one that needs that message.

QueenofmyPrinces · 13/04/2020 11:55

I think it’s just minimising a very serious subject.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 13/04/2020 12:21

It's interesting that HIV/AIDS loomed large as themes in the earlier seasons of ER. However, for all the bed-hopping many of the department members seemed to do I don't recall once storyline about any of them picking up an STD or becoming HIV+ through casual sex. I recall that Cleo did but didn't she get it from her long-term partner?

I think Marty has a bit of a death-wish? He seems to be being beyond reckless.

Have we lost Casualty for the foreseeable future now? Noting that after tomorrow Holby City will be paused?

rainypuddles · 13/04/2020 13:14

I think they film a few months in advance but have stopped filming, I read they are spreading out what they do have over the next few months?

m00rfarm · 13/04/2020 18:06

I live in portugal and holby and casualty are the only series that I watch regularly so I am gutted that they are not on every week. I never watch them live; always wait until I have nothing to do, or wake up in the middle of the night, and then watch one of them
