Maybe he'll start to develop signs of Huntington's but will then have to pretend he didn't know he was carrying it. Then there'll be a few weeks of that before Rash inadvertently tells Fenisha that he did know. I still don't know how Ethan has ended up as the baddy in all this!

I think it's because a Huntington's diagnosis is a life changing event and there is no cure. The decision is purely that of the person at risk and therefore they must be an adult. They can test an unborn baby via CVS though and I guess if Fenisha had said she was continuing with the pregnancy this would have forced Ethan to tell her. It's too late now.

Dr Google implies that many of those at risk don't want to test before any onset of symptoms, preferring not to know.

I also did the it was actually Caleb who had Huntington and mixed up the results (some how!!) He really wasn't a nice person at all.

I'm really sad about the way Ethan is being portrayed as I really like him and I think they're changing his personality.

I wish just one there could be a happy couple in Casualty.

Ethan is in a difficult position though. He had a fling (one night?) with Fenisha and she ditched him for Will, wanting nothing to do with him at all. Then she lied to him about having a termination and he is stuck with the knowledge that he could have passed on the Huntington's gene and there is nothing they can do about it now the baby is here. They were never a couple, let alone a happy one.

At the moment he is facing the not-so-distant-future of deteriorating health, becoming a burden and dying and the same happening to the baby. I imagine the baby has brought it all back to the front of his mind. I do think he is genuinely trying to do what is best.

He's a more complicated character than he was when he was first introduced, certainly. But I always thought of him as an essentially good man who would always do the right thing. It seems ridiculous that a man like that (a decent, good-looking doctor with a stable career) wouldn't already be happily married with kids, but we all know that's not allowed in Casualty-land!

All of this speculation about Ethan is all very well, but what I want to know is... where's Dervla? We haven't seen her for absolutely ages. I hope the artiste who plays her is still in good health and hasn't shuffled off to doggy heaven.
