What was the matter with the baby?

LockdownCheeseToastie · 13/02/2021 20:59

Classic ten minute tv labour and birth. Baby had low blood sugar and they couldn’t get an iv line in. Why doesn’t Ethan just talk to her like he should have months ago?!

Peachyqueen · 13/02/2021 21:04

Pretty sure she was 32 weeks. That baby should be alot smaller and much more vulnerable than that, surely?

purpleme12 · 13/02/2021 21:07

I thought I read she was about 36 weeks

SophieB100 · 13/02/2021 21:22

They said 32 weeks.
I had prem twins at 30 weeks, delivered by emergency c sec, due to pre eclampsia - my BP was much higher than hers, but the treatment was the same. Anyway, they were both in SCBU for 6 weeks. Just saying, that baby was a good size, and by her side, which is very unusual, for 8 weeks early.

purpleme12 · 13/02/2021 21:44

Oh right yes you would have thought they'd go to SCBU that early wouldn't you
Mine was much higher than that too but I didn't fit like her mind

SophieB100 · 13/02/2021 21:52

@purpleme12
I fitted after delivery - can't really remember it, but doctors were undecided whether it was eclampsia or the sudden drop in BP following delivery. I spent 3 days in HDU, then slowly recovered. You never forget that, do you?

LockdownCheeseToastie · 13/02/2021 22:06

Has grace got a new head?

SoupDragon · 13/02/2021 23:43

No, she's actually the same Grace all grown up! Unusual.

purpleme12 · 14/02/2021 00:27

Ah what really?!!

purpleme12 · 14/02/2021 00:30

Oh my god I totally thought the actress had changed!!

HettySunshine · 14/02/2021 08:53

@purpleme12

Oh my god I totally thought the actress had changed!!
I did too but every now and again she'd hold her head in a certain way and you could see she is the same person.

Poor Dylan. He just can't catch a break.

CherryValanc · 14/02/2021 09:24

I couldn't figure out what was sticking out the baby. Got so confused. I felt it was a adult sized artery!!

absolutetelynotfabulous · 14/02/2021 09:36

It's getting silly now. Fenisha gets a contraction and still carries on without a phone signal and without telling anyone where she is. Ethan buggers off mid shift, also not telling anyone where he's going.

Baby is born (predictably) at 32 weeks so very premature and is huge.

Come on Casualty, you can do better than this!

SoupDragon · 14/02/2021 10:22

I was convinced (and surprised!) that it was the same Grace the first time she appeared on screen but then doubted it on occasions so I googled it.

mrswhiplington · 14/02/2021 10:31

The social distancing thing was so obvious when Connie and Grace first saw each other again and just stood there, with no hugs and kisses. The actors must feel ridiculous sometimes when asked to do this.

Hope Faith sees sense and doesn't get back with Lev. He's such a cheeky pig. I wouldn't touch him again with a bargepole.

SoupDragon · 14/02/2021 10:45

They did make a half hearted attempt to explain that though -
Connie muttered something about not hugging her whilst wearing her scrubs. Totally believable.

JimmyJabs · 14/02/2021 12:58

I'm getting bored with all the changes of heart in the Ethan/Fenisha storyline and the lengths to which the scriptwriters seem to be going to stop them from having to actually touch each other. Erhan rushes to help her give birth, but just happens to get caught in a trap roughly 2m away! Ethan finally decides he wants to be in Fenisha's life, but then she changes her mind again, thus ruling out the possibility of a reunion, which surely they couldn't do without at least a hug. At this point, I feel like the restrictions on filming are driving the stories more than what would make sense to the characters and what's happened before.

purpleme12 · 14/02/2021 13:00

Yes me too

Fromage · 14/02/2021 13:29

Fenisha is a reckless arsehole who will leave her baby in a pram at the edge of a cliff, and forget to out the brakes on, as she dashes off to save someone who doesn't actually want her help. The BBC will spend its entire Casualty disaster budget in one episode, mounting a rescue of the poor dangling babby, now swinging in the breeze, its babygrow caught miraculously on the only jutting-out rock on the entire mountainside. It will all be Ethan's fault.

Honestly, Fenisha is a total wassock and shouldn't be left in charge of a pot plant. Someone should call social services before she leaves the baby in charge of driving an ambulance through a blizzard while she tries to revive a frozen corpse in the back.

Also, Casualty writers - these and more fantastic story lines are available. Hire me.

Optimist1 · 14/02/2021 15:15

I'd watch that, Fromage !

CherryValanc · 14/02/2021 16:29

Yes, the tennis game of who wants Ethan to be involved in the baby's life is quite tedious.

Wonder if the giving birth at 32 weeks will reveal she was pregnant earlier than she thought? Actually no forget thar, she had scans didnt she. Just a standard TV early 10lb baby (to go with the 40 min labour!!)

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/02/2021 17:38

Do we think Grace has been brought back for any particular reason? Maybe to get Connie and Jacob back together?

JimmyJabs · 16/02/2021 18:49

I've seen a synopsis for this Saturday's episode, and Grace does have a role in it beyond looking stroppy because Connie has to work.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/02/2021 20:42

Just seen and yes baby was huge for 8w PREM

Silly

If Ethan told F why he was like he was ........
