It was certainly an odd bit of casting but I think they're just doing what they can within the restrictions. I'm sure I read somewhere ages ago that they were using family members of the main cast as extras because they were already in their bubbles.

I've done a very tiny amount of extra work previously and had a notice recently about wanting family groups who would be willing to appear together.

I've only seen "how we filmed this" in the context of Eastenders and they definitely said they were using real life partners for scenes involving touching/intimacy.

Kyle Pryor had to go back on to the Hollyoaks set recently to film a kissing scene with his real life partner Anna Passey, even though the character he played in Hollyoaks is now dead and certainly wasn't dating Anna Passey's character when he was alive He was standing in for whoever she's dating on the programme.

Does anyone know if the actor playing Will is actually leaving? I quite expected him last night to do a standard Casualty U-turn as he seemed to have decided that the job was worthwhile after all.

His Twitter feed implies that he has left. I thought he had as they did all the lingering, wistful shots that go with an exit.

Social distancing was VERY obvious at some points

I thought it was a bit weird that the brother was with David, no PPE, he gets stabbed and is in resus with full on PPE

I think they were way closer in resus. Possibly they went for the "dramatic license" PPE there so the actors could get close to the patient.

I agree that the distancing is very obvious in this as there is no hugging or relatives getting close to the patient. I've not found it terribly awkward though

But a couple of times in that episode, I looked at her before the big reveal to Ethan and thought: well she's obviously pregnant, I wonder why he's not mentioning it?

So by the time he actually noticed it, I was just wondering how he had been a doctor for so long with such shit observational skills!
