And matty pushes jade to the limit

Anyone else confused by the supposed 15 year old boy who looks about 25?!

BLTLover · 09/01/2021 20:54

Hahah he is not 15!

MadisonAvenue · 09/01/2021 20:58

I was just coming to say the same about the 15 year old Grin

Murinae · 09/01/2021 21:02

Why they all not wearing masks?

Bunnybigears · 09/01/2021 21:03

They said something about not wearing masks due to artistic licence or something.

Viciouslybashed · 09/01/2021 21:56

The 15 year old is surely at least 30. Such a funny bit of casting.

excelledyourself · 09/01/2021 22:25

Can someone fill in some blanks for me please?

Why was Marty getting an HIV test during the chemical incident episode? I mean, I think I've watched the episode shown prior to that (with the stowaway and him and Jade planning a party) and just don't see where it fits in.

He had unprotected sex with a man who he later treated in A&E, and the man (who didn’t recognise Marty) was HIV+ and hadn’t been taking his medication IIRC.
excelledyourself · 09/01/2021 22:38

Thanks @MadisonAvenue

But what episode was that and when?

Chickydoo · 09/01/2021 22:48

Agree about the 15 yr old....ridiculous casting!

MadisonAvenue · 09/01/2021 22:58

It was last year, no idea which episode though.

purpleme12 · 10/01/2021 00:22

Where had Faith been?

Arobase · 10/01/2021 01:43

@Murinae

Why they all not wearing masks?
Because it was in the summer in those happy days when infection rates had gone right down and before wearing masks became compulsory. Also presumably they were in the non-covid section
Councilworker · 10/01/2021 02:46

I was a bit confused about Faith and Lev not sure if I missed something. I assume that as Luka was ECV after chemo he was shielding and Faith was at home with him and her other kids. Lev continued to work as a paramedic and stayed somewhere else during lockdown to protect him.

The programme announcer said right at the start that "masks and PPE are used with dramatic license"

It was exactly that.

I remember several news stories at the time about how frontline medical staff had moved out to protect their families.

HettySunshine · 10/01/2021 10:04

@purpleme12

Where had Faith been?
Presumably looking after Luka and his sisters while Lev was working.
Bunnybigears · 10/01/2021 10:12

Yes in a previous episode it was decided Faith would stay at home and Lev would continue to work and live elsewhere. I cant understand how she didn't confront him about the kiss until now though, thats a long time to sit and stew about it.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 10/01/2021 11:58

That entire episode was ruined for me by that ridiculous casting. I only had half an eye on it - was watching while cooking this morning - and was thus baffled by why this adult man was being treated as a paediatric case by Will.

Bunnybigears · 10/01/2021 12:00

Do you think it was something to do with Coronavirus restrictions and not wanting a child actor on set? Because otherwise I cant imagine what they were thinking. I assumed he was supposed to be an adult with some sort of learning difficulties until someone said he was 15.

LIZS · 10/01/2021 12:03

I think you will increasing notice young actors playing down their age and absent children in tv dramas as it avoids the requirement for additional people (chaperones, tutors etc) on set.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 10/01/2021 12:05

Looked up the actor playing him - he's nearly thirty Confused

purpleme12 · 10/01/2021 12:23

It is very strange

I agree. I think employing children is going to be problematical. That said, you would have thought they could have found an 18 year old.

Bizarrely I didn't find it that jarring - it was clear he was really older than 15 but I think my brain just ignored it.

JustDanceAddict · 10/01/2021 13:37

We were cracking up about the 15 yr old too. Dh was saying ‘don’t they mean he’s 50? Maybe they’re arresting him for being older than his mum?’ 😆
