I was trying to work out why Ben told Jay not to let on about his hearing???

Was watching on catch up and then dd and I watched Eastenders:-Back to Ours with Peggy & Pat. There was a bit where alcoholic Phil was shouting at Peggy before setting fire to the pub. It was striking coz he was alcohol ridden and ill looking but Steve McFadden was also very thin, about half the size he is now. Quite shocking. I didn't remember.

I always think Steve McF is the best drunk actor I've ever seen. Also Archie was the best villain in EE. Something about his eyes. .

@The80sweregreat I watch Classic Eastenders on UKTV Play catch up. Watching through my Now TV box there are no adverts. It's so much better. Also about 10 minutes shorter without the ads!

Grant has just set fire to the pub for the insurance, not knowing Sharon is in there after Phil rejected her when she'd just secretly declared her love for him! Ian is just tryingto worm his way back into Cindy's life.

I'll have to look out for the old ones on 'now tv! ' had no idea they were on there.
I wonder what Stuart said to Ben at the end? I was surprised he went to see him rather than go off to see if Callum was still where Shirley said he was! Good old jay intervening and stopping a punch up.
Poor Sharon : how could you look after a newborn when that had Happened to your older son? You would be broken and really struggle to bond. It's beyond tragic.
It'll get out about Dennis and the online trolling surely? Ian is mad to think he can contain that one!
It's good we've seen Linda struggling too with not drinking ; it won't be easy but at least mick has come clean about Leo and Whitney! What a mess but I'm glad that Sonia didn't try to hide the body or anything daft like that.

I couldn't work out why Ben hadn't got a replacement hearing aid or already had a spare. I suppose it's only been a day or two and it takes longer to get replacements though.

I really felt for Ben and his hearing and wonder if it's going to be art of a bigger future storyline?

From what I gathered he said his hearing aid wasn't helping and they showed that and mentioned hitting his head? So whether his hearing is damaged further or whether the aid is broken we don't know.

I'm new to the TV threads - is it considered a spoiler if a story is already in motion?

Ee is right into the viewers experience Sharing Bens hearing loss was genuis poor Ben,

I think his hearing was damaged further with the water and banging his head!

I think it's just the hearing aid as they only do the weird sound when he puts it in.

Ah right he was saying he was hoping it was temporary. He was daft to askJay not to say anything

I can't see any mileage in a story where his hearing is damaged more - they tend to mostly ignore it anyway. I hadn't given any thought to his hearing aid not being waterproof so fair play to them for including that
I guess!

I have hearing aids. They def won’t work after getting wet. May take a while to get new one

And yes the high pitch squealing and buzzing noise is accurate

Plus my hearing isn’t that bad as can hear without. But not high sounds

So bens poor hearing. Plus gun. Plus hit head on boat all will add to loss

Yes they are just highlighting his hearing loss and the fact he is vulnerable to further hearing loss just showing him as a real person

I wonder if they have someone with hearing loss on the production team. They aren't always good with small details like wet hearing aids.

Ben's reason for not going to the police makes no sense. He told Jay they can't alert the police because they might find out about the hit ordered on Keanu.

So on the one hand he is desperate to save Callum but on the other is refusing to bring in valuable police resources and will potentially let him die to save himself and Phil from prison. Yet on the boat he put a gun to Phil's head and said he'd kill him to save Callum?!

They should have gone to find Callum.
Shirley sort of gave up and only told Stu because he pulled Linda and mick out of the water! It was a bit silly and his been there days now. Nobody seems to care.

I guess they don't realise Ken has gone but even so!
