for those who are not at the top of the sport, it will be catastrophic- they rely on going week to week to tournaments- mostly earning very little
Completely agree with this Raahh. The guardian had a feature yesterday about a guy playing either a challenger or futures in Kazakhstan, he flew all the way there and it was cancelled, then he only just made it home (Germany) as they closed the borders. I hope the ATP will find a way to pay players "sick pay" or something during this time.
So sorry to hear about your DH/DD's team, it must so disappointing for them.
My dad is a season ticket holder at Liverpool and (being 6 points from the premier League aside!! He can't talk about that!!) he was pointing out there are loads of small businesses around Anfield that depend on match day business, takeaways, pubs, etc. The impact of all this is just unbelievable. I can't believe it's only a week since IW was called off.
The problem for tennis as well (sorry to be even more gloomy) is all the travel involved in the tours, it's not like they can just play behind closed doors if players can't travel to where they're supposed to be. God knows how long it will take to get the show back on the road.
Right, I might need to go now before I bring everyone else down with my complaints! And I shouldn't really, because it is "only" sport...but still...
