It’s utterly bonkers that they would even dream of reinstating Carrie to the CIA. No way. At very very least they have a duty of Care to her and she is so far from psychologically fit for it. She wouldn’t even pass the psych evals anymore due to everything she has been through and her medical history.

Saul was interrogating a terrorist who'd been held in solitary, no daylight (iirc) and had bad eyesight, no lenses, no glasses, couldn't read.

He brought snacks, baguette, cheese, small plastic bottle of wine. Then when he went to get the sign off for her improved conditions after her information, he lent her his spare glasses so she could read. She used the glass to cut her wrists and died.

Was a kind if ill-judged act.

Re Saul and Carrie:

Well there's the Saul not caring about Carrie ("I'm OK with a setback") and there's Saul seeing the Afghan VP Gulom (?) on TV sabotaging the negotiations and realising Carrie is the only person to get him to backtrack as they've worked well together in the past.

And there's series 8, last series and how many episodes do they waste with Carrie stuck in Germany when she could be active in Afghanistan Sorting Things Out.

Great seeing Max with the soldiers "cable guy" indeed, realising he's sorting out serious stuff and respecting him for having been at the Islamabad embassy attack.

Talking of Pakistan, don't trust whatshername who was in it before, from the ISI. Or the CIA brunette, think she'll make a hash of things.

I had to rewind loads of it to figure out what was going on but thought it a really good opening episode. At least not Washington or Berlin.
