Did they have three children with them walking back from the dance? Could one of the children have been killed in the car crash?

Third body bag may have been the mum. Though I think they had three children with them and all three body bags were child size, I starting to doubt myself!!

peanutfoldover · 12/01/2020 10:31

@TroysMammy that was the coroner/pathologist man. They must have done a sweep of their car or maybe they found the bag of rubbish in/around the house. It’s just part of looking for any relevant evidence.

(All my knowledge on this subject is based on what I’ve learned from Silent Witness so I’m basically an expert)

Aquestionforyouall · 12/01/2020 10:31

Was the car crash before or after the party?

peanutfoldover · 12/01/2020 10:32

@imnottoofussed they found a Receipt for the padlock so the date and time would have been on there.

peanutfoldover · 12/01/2020 10:33

@Aquestionforyouall It was before the party. I assume a little while if any of them had injuries, which surely they would have.

peanutfoldover · 12/01/2020 10:37

I think the plastic sheeting on the beds was put there by the forensics team to protect evidence from falling debris.

peanutfoldover · 12/01/2020 10:39

They definitely had 3 daughters. After the party, 2 were walking and 1 was in a wheelchair.

I’m pretty certain all 3 of them were walking on the beach, Charlotte did fall over and was carried away by Kate. But I don’t think Charlotte was the one in the wheelchair after the party.

TroysMammy · 12/01/2020 10:41

peanutfoldover thanks.

Squigean · 12/01/2020 10:44

Car crash was after the party on the beach, but before the party after the cycling.

peanutfoldover, if you've learnt from Silent Witness there simply cannot be a subject you are lacking in!! They are top of the game experts in anything and everything Grin. Hopefully the pathologist with the same beaver-pelt beard as David Tennet is in the same league as them. It'll be sorted shortly if he is!!)

peanutfoldover · 12/01/2020 10:49

@Squigean exactly, Plus, in silent witness the pathologists (or whatever they are - coroners? Forensic scientists?) do a lot of police detective work, more than the actual detectives, including questioning suspects randomly. Which, in turn, makes me a fully qualified detective too.

It’s a shame really because it ruins the fun of working out murder mysteries like this when it’s so obvious to my expert eye.

Bourdic · 12/01/2020 10:59

Charlotte was clearly disabled at the beach - she was carried down there by her dad who had her crutches. When she fell over, she had her crutches with her but that was why MIL was so angry she had been left on her own as she was vulnerable. There was also mention of C’s traumatic birth so probably some birth trauma?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/01/2020 10:59

It wasn't the lack of breaths with resus I noted. It was that she wasn't pushing on the chest at all. She was just flexing her elbows, giving them a gentle work out

LOLGrin

peanutfoldover · 12/01/2020 11:17

Didn’t Charlotte give the little boy who burned himself at the party her balloon though? I’m sure she was walking then or maybe I just didn’t notice.

peanutfoldover · 12/01/2020 11:18

They definitely need to find a better way of acting out CPR that involves locking the elbows. Maybe some kind of padding on the chest?!

peanutfoldover · 12/01/2020 11:19

I feel like I need to watch the whole programme again

EuphorbiaHemlockthe1st · 12/01/2020 11:29

I think they need to get some help from Netlix. I read that british tv drama stems from the stage whereas American drama stems from movies.
There is too much spelling out the story on uk series - eg look lots of happy youngish couples having a carefree and fun time (ceilidh) - look a loving father doing x with his kids, Look a caring but troubled DM doing something in the home. Look a nice professional couple having marital problems.
Sure this might all change as the story progresses but it needs played more subtly.
Confession - I turned off as the 'happy couples night out' turning to tragedy was a bit too tragic for me - 3 dead DCs, and burned in a fire at that. Whew.

Bunnybigears · 12/01/2020 11:41

@peanutfoldover the little girl who gve the boy her balloon was called Iris

peanutfoldover · 12/01/2020 11:53

Ooooh, yes Iris. I remember thinking what a pretty name.

Ok so that dashes my theory that the car accident left Charlotte disabled and the guilt made Kate turn to familial murder-suicide

aleC4 · 12/01/2020 12:24

I'm a teacher and the bit where the Headteacher talked to the children just broke me.
I rarely cry at tv dramas but that was heartbreaking.

Clawdy · 12/01/2020 13:17

Gripping and well- acted, although I did put subtitles on after the first ten minutes. Four episodes sounds just right, when so many dramas now go on for weeks and weeks.

WhoWants2Know · 12/01/2020 13:43

The policeman did try to get the kids out first, but ran into the padlocked door. He then found Kate in the hall and Tom on the bed.

For my money, Jess did it.

Squigean · 12/01/2020 13:48

Jess is the mum right?

Rubbish with names when there's so many characters.

I'd opt for headteacher at this stage. Mum wasnt supposed to be in the house. I'm about 15% confident. Otherwise it's the mum (however, women committing murder suicides is rare).

Failing that it's the mysterious pathologist, drumming up some business for himself.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 12/01/2020 13:51

I thought the scene where someone (forensics?) was carefully emptying the blue bag which contained the remnants of the cake etc... (and the padlock keys?) was to check to see if it had been poisoned?

Wingedharpy · 12/01/2020 13:52

With regard to the chest compressions, it does take a lot of effort to do it properly and I don't think we should kill/maim/injure David Tennant in any way, shape or form just to add a bit of realism to a drama😁

peanutfoldover · 12/01/2020 15:22

Jess is the policeman’s wife
