The chest compressions bothered me too but I guess it is difficult to act them out on real people as obviously they can't do real ones!

LoseLooseLucy · 12/01/2020 15:33

The chest compressions were so distracting, they lingered on that shit for way too long Grin

Anyone know how many episodes there are?

LoseLooseLucy · 12/01/2020 15:34

Shot, not shit 😬

jomaIone · 12/01/2020 15:42

Honestly did you all have cotton wool in your ears and your eyes on Mumsnet while watching this??

Really wasn't as difficult to follow as so many of your believe??

There'll be loads of things that make no sense at the moment since it's only episode 1 of 4!!!

WhoWants2Know · 12/01/2020 15:43

Yep, Jess is the policeman's wife with curly hair. She's besties with Kate but shagged Kate's husband (how long was that after offering to run after Kate on the beach and help smooth the waters?)

She's playing nice to everyone, it can't be genuine.

LoseLooseLucy · 12/01/2020 15:45

Have to agree, I can't see where any confusion could lie really.

Hmmm, so Jess. Interesting, she does seem unlikely at this point so possible!!

So her, the headteacher or the pathologist!!

Squigean · 12/01/2020 16:05

Oh, yes. Pine needles!! I'd forgotten about that. Hmmm. Trying to get away?

Other sign I thought about was DT's wife and drinking. Two references to it - one at the dance (drinking but not eating because of weight) and then at the beach where DT gave her wine without asking if she wanted it. It was a bit "calm down love, lighten up".

I just thought the burglar thing was the boy's nighly t excuse for getting up and going into his dad's room. Policeman and Jess taken turns who puts him back into bed.

Like others it wasn't so much the plot, but so many characters looked alike.

But what I wanted to ask did anyone else have a problem with the sound.

I had my tv on at normal level and the moment this programme started it was like everyone was whispering or behind a wall.

Really had to turn the sound level up more than double the usual setting. And then of course the ads where deafening.

I just hate it when programme makes to do that.

The child was always disabled. She was carried off the beach and had little purple crutch type things that were also carried. She had been left on her own and fallen on the beach.

BorneoBabe · 12/01/2020 17:25

There were pine needles in Iris PJs and her feet, maybe she sleepwalks?

Ooh good call!

Aquestionforyouall · 12/01/2020 18:02

Some patronising replies about it being difficult to follow.

It was the constant back and forth that confused me. I’m struggling to place everything on a timeline. Plus the fact that Jess was at Toms bedside even though she’s married to copper.

Trews2019 · 12/01/2020 18:15

There’s got to be some significance to the guy hanging around the playground unless it’s a red herring.

ktel1 · 12/01/2020 18:24

This is very intriguing.

Trying to work out who did it, why and how it was supposed to work.

I don't think they have the results of the toxicology report yet for the contents of the injections.

There appears to be an assumption that it was a sedative .

Did we get an actual cause of death for the mother?

We know that the father had serious smoke inhalation and almost died

Are we supposed to assume that his wife and the girls die from smoke inhalation?

The girls locked bedroom looked untouched by the fire so did they die from smoke that seeped in?

As well as the question of who did it there's also a question about the method.

For example if someone planned to kill the girls was the plan to sedate them then lock the bedroom door so that the fire likely wouldn't get to them but they would die from smoke inhalation?

Unless either the father, mother or both were actually administering the injections then I can't see them allowing themselves to be injected by someone else- at least not without a struggle.

Charlotte is also in a wheelchair at the beginning when they watch the cyclists go past. You can also see her getting additional support, when they are painting flowers, from Jess (curly haired friend). Perhaps Jess is her TA? Its not clear if this is before or after the beech but Charlotte definitely doesn’t run on the beach.

ktel1 · 12/01/2020 18:48

The beach trip for Charlotte's 5th birthday is before the day of the bike race. That's the day of the car accident.

The bike race, the Cielidh and the fire are all on the same day.

Yes she definitely had some sort of physical disability.

The traumatic birth were mentioned as giving rise to the mother's depression

Regarding the culprit.
Now that the father has come around then he would know who's responsible and who gave him an injection- he's basically the only witness/survivor

So either it was him and/or he will accuse someone else of having done it- his question at the end of "what did she do?" suggests he's blaming his wife.

Squigean · 12/01/2020 18:57

Flower painting - Cycle race - céilí - fire; are same day.

Beach unknown time before.

I was also thinking that they might have been sedated before the injections were administered.

I suppose if that were the case then it could possibly be someone from outside the home and it could have been set up to look as though one of them did it.

The padlock is confusing though. Why was it used, why would it be locked again after the injections?

When we find out what happened no doubt it will seem so obvious lol

I think there are red herrings and misdirections galore here.
