I genuinely have paid no attention to this rubbish (other than there were keys in it!) so am going to have to go back several pages to understand why we are interested in it unless anyone wants to enlighten me? Why do we think it was in Kate's car?

sarey, your DH sounds like mine. Does my head in.

Now that someone has shared the tagline 'someone they know and trust' , it cannot possibly be Sasha.

On the yogurt pot note, I know lots of people who do this. My MIL definitely would. They have nothing better to do...

peanutfoldover · 24/01/2020 07:00

A psychopathic trait maybe?

CheekyFucker · 24/01/2020 07:17

@Piggywaspushed we are interested in the rubbish because it was of interest to the police and included in the programme. I would think that was obvious. Every shot, every word, every detail has been chosen by the writer and/or director. Some will be red herrings, some will be clues.

The comment about 'someone they trust' came from outwith the programme so is a spoiler in my opinion. It was not in the show or the trailer, but in a write up by someone else. Not sure it was even Channel 4.

CheekyFucker · 24/01/2020 07:19

And about the clean 'rubbish', Tom has been described as being tidy, and has been seen scrubbing his nails and shoes. His hair and beard look stuck on, they are so manicured. He looks like he would wash a yoghurt pot.

Ulysses · 24/01/2020 07:34

I'd wash a yoghurt pot - they need to be, before you stick them in the recycling bin! I'm a bit confused about the focus on the rubbish as well, both on this thread and in the show.

You wouldn't leave it at the beach so it's got to come back to the house. I thought it was just emphasise that the two occasions - one happy at the ceilidh and the other fraught with tension at the party on the beach. If the rubbish is still there, then the beach party must have happened fairly recently as well, which makes the aftermath of the car accident a bit confusing as no one seems to have been too harmed by it, physically anyway.

Apols if this has been carried beforehand!

Ulysses · 24/01/2020 07:35

That should ready apologies if covered beforehand! It's on tonight and I'm really looking forward to having something to watch as most of my TV viewing is on Netflix or Catchup never live. See you later all.

Fiderer · 24/01/2020 08:25

The birthday party on the beach - Kate was seemingly v relaxed and happy until she was on the phone to someone. Then the daughter fell over, Tom's mum made the comment about why was no one looking out for her, Kate came over phone in hand and told her to fuck off. Guilt that she'd been on the phone and hadn't been keeping an eye on her daughter and/or something about the phone call changed her mood.

Because after that it was Tom handing her the wine, telling her to leave with the children, she stormed off, cake uncut and party over. Then the crash. After her death wouldn't the police have checked her phone records, not just on the night of her death. So perhaps who she was on the phone to at the beach was a usual contact, head teacher? Easily explainable by him. Or someone else?

amaryl · 24/01/2020 10:27

I’m rewatching

Nirvana1979 · 24/01/2020 14:10

Wonder what tonights episode will bring.

I must admit I'm even more confused after reading this thread 🤪

My money is on David Tennants mum. Shes a bit shifty.
Motive being, she cant stand Kate and wanted her out the picture. She didn't intend to kill the girls and DT was possibly in on it.

I don't know, when Jess was at the cottage looking after him he seemed very weird when she was driving away. He seems to be hiding something.

peanutfoldover · 24/01/2020 14:34

OMG I completely forgot it’s TONIGHT!

SilentSarey · 24/01/2020 15:49

Is it the last one tonight?

peanutfoldover · 24/01/2020 15:50

Surely not?? I must admit I’ve totally assumed it was 6 episodes

Piggywaspushed · 24/01/2020 16:48

OK, fair enough re rubbish : I just thought it was there to show the painstaking processes forensic go through and , also, the sad details of kids' stuff like bits of balloons and party candles, so symbols, rather than clues. imo.

I didn't think the tagline was a spoiler. It's on imdb, I believe , or something like that which anyone can look at at any point...it's a hook to get viewers watching, as are trailers. It wasn't called as a spoiler at the time. Oh well. Don't want to have an argument about what a spoiler is, but it's details about plot coming from an actual programme or film which someone has seen in advance of others. This caused problems with that ITV drama that was also available to view in its totality streamed and always causes WW3 on Strictly threads.

People are discussing what they think based on a range of sources on the silly Masked Singer show thread. Again, no one ACTUALLY knows, so they aren't spoilers.

Frazzled2207 · 24/01/2020 16:57

Daft question but I can't watch until about 10.30pm. Will it be able to stream that soon after broadcast?

Ulysses · 24/01/2020 17:05

Erm, it was me that posted the IMDB tagline and agree @piggywaspushed its definitely not a spoiler. If you go onto the Channel Presspack site, which uses the same info. There's more about the show too including an article produced early last year, presumably before it was filmed. It's quite interesting and worth a google if interested though it doesn't give too much away.

Think it's only on for four episodes @peanutfoldover so we're halfway through. Seems short even by British TV standards.

Nirvana1979 · 24/01/2020 17:06

There are 4 episodes so next week is the last .

peanutfoldover · 24/01/2020 17:12

Ok thank you

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 24/01/2020 17:13

I thought it was four episodes. Tonight's is the third?

peanutfoldover · 24/01/2020 17:35

Hopefully we’ll be able to make some proper educated guesses tonight

amaryl · 24/01/2020 18:22

Still concerned about the rubbish.
The blue bag included the receipt for the padlock and keys were still there. I know you get a few?
There were at least 4 wine bottle tops, wrapping paper and the candles
What was the ceilidh celebration for, was that a(nother) birthday?

The beardy guy is in love with Kate, my prediction.
Tom being in jail is hardly a spoiler as the sirens/blue lights were coming to get him
Spoilers are when someone tells something having watched it...I think

Piggywaspushed · 24/01/2020 18:31

I think the ceilidh was just a village day. That is what life is like in Scotland, according to the meedja!
I think it was shorthand for a lovely community rocked by a tragedy.

Ulysses · 24/01/2020 18:38

The ceilidh was on the back of the village cheering on the cyclists so everyone was gathered for that. Yes - being Scottish I can vouch that any community celebration finishes off with a ceilidh Wink!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2020 19:31

Been a hard day. Had baileys. Now on gin

Tonight might not make sense to me 😂😂

I shall watch tomorrow sober

beckywiththeshithair27 · 24/01/2020 21:08

nibdedibble · 24/01/2020 21:10
