The Greatest Dancer

Anyone watching?

The two youngsters had a maturity beyond their years.

The Latin dancers were a bit out of sync. Why didn’t the young lad start with the rest?

Didn’t see the first duo - cooking food.

Michael and Jowita were so slick, her hair and the ladies at tables were a bit distracting though.
No real weak links left now. The little ones are not showing much variety but that's to be expected. Everyone else is giving themselves a big push.

64sNewName · 15/02/2020 20:16

I’d be sorry to see Harrison go on principle because he’s clearly so talented, but I didn’t really enjoy his performance last week or this week, so ...

DD and I both felt like we could hardly see Hannah dance for the busy backdrop

GhostHoward · 15/02/2020 20:22

I can’t believe Ainsley left!!!

xsquared · 15/02/2020 20:23

Oh, I wasn't expecting that result. I would have preferred Lily and Joseph to go.

cordelia16 · 15/02/2020 20:24

Awful result!!

Pegsinarow · 15/02/2020 20:25

I agree about the busy backdrops and shiny floor and over-zealous lighting effects. It actually detracts from the dancing!

We are enjoying the show overall though; the standard is much improved this year. Could do with less of the cheesy "my true self- journey" type dialogue though!

Samcro · 15/02/2020 20:44

I wasn't keen on ainsleys style of dance
I would like th ballroom couple to win

Ellmau · 15/02/2020 22:20

Michael ND jowit are definitely my favourites now. That was really hot.

I actually quite like Lily And Joseph, I know they’re weaker technically than the other acts but they have a charm which manages to avoid the trap of cutesiness which child performers sometimes fall into.

Ainsley is talented but this week’s routine felt a bit prancey and self indulgent.

TechnicalSergeantGarp · 15/02/2020 22:32

Some groups did their themes much better than others. That didn't seem to matter for the % scores.

I was surprised Harrison scored low again. Of the two male solo dancers, I thought Ainsley would stay. I'm glad Harrison is back next week.

I really like watching L&J. As skilled as the ballroom couple are, I could watch that on Strictly. I'd be happy for anyone to win.

Lily and Joseph "You Are the Reason" Iceland
93.8%
Did not like this - feels very repetitive and stale now. Also why Iceland and not Reykjavik. We aren't dum-dums

Ainsley Rickets "Giant" Rio de Janeiro
93.8%
Going second is known as a death slot for home voting as you aren't memorable. Okay routine but needed better music and some Latin incorporated. Would have been better in feathers as Blue or dancing with some huge feather fans or a boa, just to be memorable

Vale "Insomnia" Cairo
89.2%
One of my favourites, the lift was slightly off centre in relation to the lead and some of the hands maybe not quite in sync but loved the routine as a whole and one I will rewatch

Harrison Vaughn "Smile" Paris
79.8%
Hated it. Trite cliched bollocks. I keep saying it - stick him in a red boiler suit and mask and have him as Pluto crawling fast to Us music. His dances have been poor compared with his audition and his potential. Let him do dark rather than double schmaltz

Dancepoint "Gravity" Beijing
92.3%
Joint favourite. The ribbons choreo was inspired. Fitted theme really well. Wish they would not keep saying girls when there is a lad there too

Michael and Jowita "Get the Party Started" Monte Carlo
92.4%
Excellent routine and they would fit into Strictly seamlessly. Have shown such variety each week. Nailed it tonight

Brothers of Dance "Sparrow" The Amazon Confused
91.3%
Didn't get it. Were they meant to be sparrows then, all dressed in brown? Bored me. Was it meant to be about the environment? (Missed the vt) Did not get message, preferred other groups

Hannah Martin "Where We Come Alive" Athens
She put her heart into it. Some of the rope bit was...ropey. If she is choreoing herself, fair play. Would have preferred the gladiator instrumental version of Gangsta's paradise for the music

I wanted L+J, BoD or Harrison to go tonight.
Ainsley accepted defeat like a pro, so thankful and gracious.
Favourites tonight for me were Vale, M+J and Dancepoint who have been very consistent.
What was the South African dish Oti was eating?
Cheryl looked so different with contacts in. She mentioned Greggs which made me laugh (advertising on the bbc?!) then refused to eat the pasties cos she didn't know how long they'd been there! Grin as long as the maccy Ds probably
I like Jordan Banjo a lot - he and Alesha have good chemistry. He is sooooooo tall though - at 6ft 6, I always want to do something to either his jackets or posture, his shoulders always look hunched/rounded or the jackets are ill fitting?
I wonder with the groups whether all their mums are speed dialling Wink
I would be happy atm with a Dancepoint win or M+J, I think, neither of whom I expected to be rooting for.

IceniSky · 16/02/2020 07:44

I really think Harrison needs to do dark characters. Can't find the link but in a similar US show one of the finalists did a ninja dance and it was amazing. Something like that.

IceniSky · 16/02/2020 07:47

This is it.

cordelia16 · 16/02/2020 13:39

@TheWaveReturnsToTheOcean Dancepoint have two boys in the group; I also hate when the hosts/dance captains say "girls" when speaking to them.

My view is that neither Vale nor M&J will win - have a feeling that TPTB will not "let" Oti win for the second time. My bet would be on one of Cheryl's or Todrick's winning. I'd love to see Dancepoint win. As much as I love Vale, I think their routines are a bit same-y each week.

cordelia16 · 16/02/2020 13:42

Thanks for that link, @IceniSky. Wow, that guy is fantastic!!

Agree that that style would suit Harrison. His IT clown routine was so inspired, and I just think that Matthew has blanded-down (made up word lol) his performance styles/moves since then.

Oblomov20 · 16/02/2020 16:29

I too wonder who will win.
I suspect none of our choices/views!
M&J were so slick, as per usual.
It was right that Ainsley went.
I thought that Harrison was poor, as he was last week, but I too believe he has potential if they get him the right routine.

YouCanNeverHaveEnoughGIitter · 16/02/2020 18:06

Actually World of Dance did IT first and did IT much better. I cannot believe I forgot that.

10YellowTulips · 16/02/2020 22:18

A bit late to the party as DD is at dance class on Sat nights so I watch on Sunday. Agree with almost everything TheWave said.
Might be controversial but I'm not surprised Ainsley went, we was in my bottom three with Harrison and BofD. Some of Ainsley's moves were so simple that I might do them while dancing round my handbag..

I'm gutted there are no Street or HipHop acts left, as that's the style DD does. Don't have a clear favourite, maybe Vale or M&J.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 16/02/2020 22:45

Ohblomov20 I usually agree with you, but no no no Hannah should have gone.
As mother of dancer/gymnast, that was not dance. Several stumbles in balance, too full on and missing her usual control. Too much acrobatics and the transitions were clunky. A hot mess really.
Dance point also were not on point this week, again a few stumbles and a few out of sync moments but generally lovely
So relieved they are still safe.
I thought Ainsley was second best after M&J (who were a class of their own!!’)

cordelia16 · 17/02/2020 13:50

I rewatched some of the auditions last night. Vale had a guy with them originally... what happened to him?

Standrewsschool · 22/02/2020 19:17

Love the opening numbers of this programme, with all,the contestants dancing together.

Enjoyed the tap routine, although did anyone else find the music loud.

Is everyone doing dance routine i genres which they are not familiar with tonight? If not, it’s a disadvantage for Harrison,

MissSueFlay · 22/02/2020 19:19

I liked Harrison's routine, but I did think he looked a bit uncomfortable wearing shoes to dance!

Standrewsschool · 22/02/2020 19:27

vales routine was very pretty and slick. However, didn’t really understand what the story of the lady in white was doing. Is she the lead dancer every week?

ChessieFL · 22/02/2020 19:33

I loved Harrison and Lily and Joseph, but wasn’t so keen on Vale.

MissSueFlay · 22/02/2020 19:34

I thought it was a dream sequence kind of thing? Could well be wrong!

Absolutely loved Lily and Joseph, and I don't usually tbh. DD loves them, and votes for them every week!

Standrewsschool · 22/02/2020 19:42

I agree with Matthew that the best part was traditional Hannah, ie more gymnastic-y, and less dancing.
