Christmas Day...

Merry Christmas Corrie Fans...
And those who watch through habit.

Rita's in the floor, Derek's in a bind, Gemma's had babies and is going out her mind.
Nick is grimacing nicely, and Sarah's forgot the plot.
And we're all just gathering around and hoping Dev gets shot.

Not just you eddie.

I wouldn’t mind if they were half decent, but they’re always a load of unrealistic tripe.

x2boys · 07/02/2020 20:07

Don't watch Corrie regularly I prefer Classic Corrie ,but is there any reason why it's taking so long to.get to Blackpoo! It's a hour an hour away from Weatherfield (Salford )

x2boys · 07/02/2020 20:10

He was in Cop ,s early 2000,s and Royale Family @SidneyP

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 07/02/2020 20:10

I was just about to ask how far away it was from Weatherfield. They’ve all managed to get pissed and the driver has stopped to piss about 4 times! And Audrey talking about DVT!

TheSquitz · 07/02/2020 20:15

The bus driver was Ken in Early Doors.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 07/02/2020 20:15

Gail has a rudimentary sense of first aid because she’s watched ER? Nothing to do with working at a medical centre for years then, no? Hmm

x2boys · 07/02/2020 20:19

JuanSheetIsPlenty I live in Bolton it takes us 40 mins to an hour to get there, wetherfield is based on Salford and it's about the same distance ,even in the 50,when my mum's brother was at boarding school in Blackpool.and they lived in Lancashire with a 1950,s car I don't think it took more than 2 hours?

thenightsky · 07/02/2020 20:23

I should have thought 90% of the journey would be on motorways, dual carriageway and urban streets. They look like they are going via Northumbria and Cumbria.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 07/02/2020 20:24

Why the fuck would Rita give her rings to Amy? Confused

This is pure shite.

SidneyP · 07/02/2020 20:26

@x2boys another one from Bolton here Wink

SidneyP · 07/02/2020 20:30

That ending!

val4 · 07/02/2020 20:30

Is Ken gone now???

ajandjjmum · 07/02/2020 20:31

What??!!! I expected Rita to drop, but Ken's comment could be interpreted in several ways. Don't understand the ending at all.

I actually quite enjoyed the reminiscing.

x2boys · 07/02/2020 20:38

High five Sidney !

CoolCarrie · 07/02/2020 20:48

Well that was a bloody disappointment Could have been excellent, but was a let down. Not funny, or sad, just meh , and hearing Bet, Hilda, Betty , Elsie and Alec just showed up how much good it used to be.

Starbonnet123 · 07/02/2020 21:07

Just watching on catch up , so disappointed ,watching the venga bus drive round Bolton , wish there was a cafe/pub on scout rd though lol .

ellenanora5 · 07/02/2020 21:10

Aww I quite liked it, marking the 10,000 episode with Ken as he was in the very first one and this is maybe his last, I think Dennis was in the first episode also, so it made sense to me.

I absolutely love Tim and Sally together, the way he said "Ye" and ran out made me smile.

I wish Yasmeen had walked the other way though.

TheSquitz · 07/02/2020 21:29

Yes it was bonkers, but I enjoyed it!

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 07/02/2020 21:30

Me too! Grin very sweet.

I think if this was to be Ken’s last episode (that’s unclear- I don’t think he will be gone just like that) they should have done the build up before today and had today’s episode dedicated to him and a party in the rovers for him. Lots of people reminiscing about the older cast while celebrating ken on home turf. Not some random pointless jaunt to Blackpool! They still could’ve had the news about Dennis included.

TDogsInHats · 07/02/2020 21:45

I watched tonight's episode (I only watch classic Corrie, haven't seen "new" Corrie for about ten years.
Why did Ken say something about eighty years at the end? I rewound and listened carefully, but still didn't understand what that meant.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 07/02/2020 21:56

Because he’s been alive for 80 odd years and has lived in the street his whole life.

CoolCarrie · 07/02/2020 21:56

Ken is meant to be 80 and he said he was born in number one, so he was saying goodbye to the house and the street I think, maybe William Roach has decided to retire

nildesparandum · 07/02/2020 22:38

I agree with previous poster re sudden arrival of a coach and every female resident drops everything and gets on, minus Gemma and ''the quads'' of course.
Jobs don't matter of course just get on the bus and have a day out which turns into a completely non occasion.
If Emma giggles and shrugs her shoulders at the same time once
again I will feel like throwing something at the TV screen.Or turn it off.

thenightsky · 07/02/2020 22:44

I do wish they'd paid Julie Goodyear a million quid to come back for one episode as Bett Sad

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 07/02/2020 22:46

I did enjoy the first few scenes of tonight so episode. The girls playing in the street, Evelyn giving out over nothing, Gail and sally out for a power walk and a natter, It was like a blast from the past. How Corrie used to be, little snipers of normal life, instead of big story after big story all the time.
