Sales associate Thomas faints at a pitch presentation and loses the sale

His colleagues then seem out to get him - is it bullying or banter

Please please be recording!!

MrsWhites · 18/12/2019 21:53

He had his phone in his hand!

sunshinesupermum · 18/12/2019 21:54

I couldn't watch it after episode 2. There should be trigger warnings Sad

Bourbonbiccy · 18/12/2019 21:54

I found it really uncomfortable watching.

informedisgood · 18/12/2019 21:54

He's holding his phone very close...

informedisgood · 18/12/2019 21:55

YES!

youvegottobekidding · 18/12/2019 21:55

Yes! He recorded!

SansaStarky · 18/12/2019 21:56

Well done Thomas

MrsWhites · 18/12/2019 21:57

Yes!

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 18/12/2019 21:57

It's a bit of a disappointing twist tbh. The old "ha ha, I was recording you all along!" trick. Was she that dim that she didn't see he had his phone in his hand?

anotherweenamechange · 18/12/2019 21:58

Very overused the whole recording thing isn’t it.

Wish I’d tried to get some money out of my employer for how I was treated now Shock

They could definitely have focused more on him ‘winning’ in the end.

MrsWhites · 18/12/2019 21:59

So he took the money then. Was the book at the end implying that this was his intention all along?

informedisgood · 18/12/2019 21:59

Justice. We needed that.
Sadly that is not always the case.
So true that you can try all you want to explain, but unless you have hard, in your face evidence, you are rarely believed.

FabulouslyGlamorousReindeer · 18/12/2019 22:00

He didn't keep it quiet though?? (He got the police) So he won't get his 'six figure sum'

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 18/12/2019 22:02

One point it does make is - get evidence! Take photos, save everything, make recordings.

I thought it was a bloody weird programme and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I don't think most bullies conveniently do a big mea culpa speech for you to handily record, so I agree with pp that it wouldn't exactly fill you with confidence that reporting bullying would get you anywhere.

informedisgood · 18/12/2019 22:03

@anotherweenamechange
I think she underestimated him and overestimated herself.

bullied · 18/12/2019 22:07

The programme really could have done so much more. (I’ve only read the comments and had my brother speak about it in my defence - too raw for me)

However. In my experience, and that of others in our company, you are not believed. You are ignored. You are offered a move - even if you are the ‘victim’. You are offered a package to go. (An insulting one). You are made to feel as though you are going mental. You are scorned behind your back - and to your face. And your managers do lie to cover their own inept arses. You can follow every procedure and they still go ostrich. And you can have as much proof of it all as you like, and they can still find a way round it.

I’m glad that he got some sort of justice. So many of us don’t.

bullied · 18/12/2019 22:08

And I asked my bully why he did what he did and he laughed in my face. Some people are just evil.

EmmiJay · 18/12/2019 22:08

I do not suffer from anxiety but this drama had me both anxious AND gave me serious rage! Good grief! I was actually ecstatic when I saw he had been recording it. Justice! I have never hated four characters more in my whole tv watching life. I worked for an 'Isobel' before and its horrible watching her bully her way around the office knowing noone could touch her because she'd wormed her way into being a fucking useless partner.🙄

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 18/12/2019 22:09

I found it so hard and uncomfortable to watch. Sad I wanted to turn over, but at the same time it was completely gripping.
What a fantastic actor

You can see how it could happen. I don't think it was implausible at all. Human beings are capable of evil Sad and especially in groups.

Clawdy · 18/12/2019 22:10

Guess that was an ambiguous ending - but looks as if he took the money, or maybe even asked for more.

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/12/2019 22:13

I wonder if he asked for 7 figures, hence the book.
I'm not sure he didn't realise some of what was said about his wife was true either, she didn't believe him did she ?

EmmiJay · 18/12/2019 22:25

The wife and her annoying voice.😑 She didn't believe him at all! You'd think as her husband, she'd at least know you but nooooo not Miss Tinkle Voice. Blah.

informedisgood · 18/12/2019 22:49

I guess if so many of us were affected, then it achieved its goal.
It was pretty much extreme at both ends. In real life it's generally more blurred and because of that, justice rarely happens.
But because it was so overtly evil and stomach churning, we needed that ending

How would we have felt if the outcome had bern different and we saw him going home broken and defeated.

midsomermurderess · 18/12/2019 23:06

Jesus Christ, it's not a bloody documentary. Stop being so witlessly literal about it.
