Sorry if there’s already a thread on this but I couldn’t find one.

Anyone else excited about this? I’m really looking forward to it, especially after seeing the trailer yesterday! There were no kids in the trailer though (unless I missed them) so not sure what’s happened to Neil the baby and Stacey’s bump! Apparently Uncle Bryn is hosting Christmas this year....

We watched an old G & S the other day and I saw the actress playing Sonya was an extra at Gavin and Stacey's wedding!

I actually welled up during the 'Step Into Christmas' bit (I bet Elton loved that). I've missed them all so much.

I related to Stacey’s homesickness, been there done that! My DH would never do what Gavin did and move though

After a while I can't see how sitting around with Gwen would have been any better than sitting around with Pam!

Have never watched this series but watched the Xmas special last night and enjoyed it. But was distracted all the way through by the way Nessa talks. Why does she speak like that? Is the actress just not very good at a Welsh accent, or is there another reason?

She IS Welsh

Ruth jones is welsh and you do get Welsh people who speak like Nessa .

Yes she is Welsh but her accent just sounds weird in the Christmas special

Oh I didn't realise! Is that the way she talks in real life then? It's sort of stilted and unlike any Welsh accent I've heard before.

No she sounds much posher in real life.
I've met lots of people around Barry who talk like Ness! Particularly Welsh speakers speaking English actually. It's one of the things I love about G and S. Nostalgia.

Message definitely has a Barry accent. When I worked in Cardiff almost everyone in the office came from Barry. In real life I think she is quite ‘posh’ in Welsh terms.

Bryn, Gwen and Stacey’s characters all originate from Swansea which is why they have a different accent to Nessa.

I really enjoyed it! Rewatched the special and now rewatching from season one.

The only clues viewers know are that they were on their knees, they did it because it was cold, it is legal in the UK and it defies the laws of gravity.

Wasn't soup also involved?

I think soup was involved- doesn't Dave Coaches make a point of referring to the soup Bryn's drinking at the hospital?

it is legal in the UK I thought it was legal in some countries.
