Shiny new thread all ready for the final tomorrow night love heart emoji ❤️

OP posts:
KatyCarrCan · 19/10/2019 15:17

Maybe I was watching a different show but I thought he looked genuinely pleased for Paddy.Busayo OTOH had a face like a smacked arse throughout - wonder why
Yy to both of these. I thought James was happy for Paddy and I couldn't work out why Busayo looked so pissed off. I also thought it was interesting that Jan looked annoyed at Ella's interview. When Ella was saying she was so genuine and loved everyone, Jan looked like she didn't believe her at all. I'm with Jan on that one
I wish Woody and Georgina had won.
imo Tim deserved his ruthless tag. I think he was only upset with James because he blamed James for Ella going and Tim would have been more likely to have won if Ella had stayed. I liked it when Georgina pointed out Tim broke the #scholarsquad by throwing Brooke out. Tim seemed genuinely surprised that anyone would call him on his behaviour.

Allmyfavouritepeople · 19/10/2019 15:33

Thought James played an absolute blinder. His only downfall was thinking Ella was playing a game when she actually wasn't. That meant his celebration when she was blocked came across as crass but if Ella had been playing a game then the viewer would have been celebrating along with him.
He was Charlie. Reading between the lines I think he's come from a home with a history of DV and I was rooting for him to grab this opportunity for a life changing amount of money.

Georgina was the obvious winner if you had no stomach for the game playing element of the game. I liked Paddy but an OG circle player should have won.

SpanishFly · 19/10/2019 15:47

Hmm I think james played a blinder up until a few days ago, but then believed his/her own hype too much.
I also think he could have been himself without using a baby to emotionally win over people. But I also agree that it's a game and he didnt do anything wrong in doing that

KatyCarrCan · 19/10/2019 15:56

I didn't have a problem with James playing the game. It's the point of the programme. I think he was right about Ella but also that it was fine for her to be game playing too.
I don't understand the 'moral' outrage. Jonathon Ross is saying they shouldn't have had the COT Hmm but imo Tim, Woody and Ella did have an alliance - they just didn't come up with a name and an acronym for it Grin

There are videos of them all out drunk and partying together on insta (except Tim and Paddy).

SpanishFly · 19/10/2019 16:30

Yeah, it's a game and the point is to win it. My only issue is that the Circle of Truth was being run by someone who was lying 😅

Loveislandaddict · 19/10/2019 16:52

I don’t think anyone had any beef with James’s gameplay and tatics, the COT was a clever idea. He just came across nasty at the end.

KurriKawari · 19/10/2019 16:57

I think they all know that being involved in something that grabbed people's attention will work out for them. A few magazine interviews, tv interviews, next stop Love Island etc etc so they rather have been a series that stirred up debate and got people talking than a show no one watched.

Itsrebekahvardysaccount · 19/10/2019 16:58

A public vote for the whole lot would have been ok I think because they would only be in the final if popular with fellow players anyway so the essence of the circle is still there.

KurriKawari · 19/10/2019 17:05

I think a public vote wouldn't be right because then the players would do everything just for the cameras and sensor some of their behaviour. As it is they only need to convince each other which works better.

CanaryBlossom · 19/10/2019 17:14

I agree a 100% public vote wouldn’t work but they’ve got to figure out a better system for next year.

I’d almost have rather had James win than Paddy (almost)... but as it is, the most mediocre contestant won. For me he’s the least remember-able of all the finalists. It was a total anticlimax.

Doyoumind · 19/10/2019 18:09

Just seen this and it made me laugh. James is in crisis management mode.

PennyRoyal · 19/10/2019 18:26

I wonder if there are TV interviews lined up for any of them? Would be interesting to see them interviewed after they've had a chance to watch some if it back.

KatyCarrCan · 19/10/2019 18:33

Doyoumind that is a brilliant interview with James Grin
Interesting that he didn't pull on the heartstrings with his background of being in foster care.

Starlight456 · 19/10/2019 18:34

Yes I did wonder the same .

Reading the article makes me just think he genuinely says anything he believes what will get him there. Nothing he did was selfless . He thought he had a better chance against Paddy and Georgina

2Rebecca · 19/10/2019 20:43

That's bullshit from James. Why did he think Paddy and Georgina were more deserving than Ella Tim or Woody? He formed the COT so 3 of them could get to the final as he felt his ratings were slipping. He may have been better being himself then his charity gesture wouldnt have seemed so unbelievable to the others. He hasnt explained why he disliked Ella and Woody so much. It does seem to be a dislike of happy people

Loveislandaddict · 19/10/2019 20:52

I felt the article was damage limitation. He was trying to be smooth over the gaps.

2Rebecca · 19/10/2019 20:54

I do think James and Paddy sound to have had the hardest lives of those there. Im surprised James was in foster care and is still so positive about his natural mother where as Paddy is closer to his foster mother.
I think money and secure parental attachments make being positive and content easier.
I still feel we learned nothing about what James enjoyed. He never mentioned his partner or what his hobbies and passions are, the same with Paddy and Georgina (apart from Paddy being gay and seeming sex obsessed initially) That's why I liked Tim and Woody.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 19/10/2019 22:06

I agree with all your points @2Rebecca.

Starlight456 · 19/10/2019 23:47

I have started series one tonight so shall see how the two series compare when no one knew what they were going into and at least I don’t have to wait till 10 o’clock 🤣

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 19/10/2019 23:49

Where are you watching it @Starlight456?

Starlight456 · 19/10/2019 23:55

On the channel 4 app through chrome cast to Tv

Mothership4two · 20/10/2019 01:30

Agree damage limitation and a lot of kerching! from interview fees. Everything James did was to make himself a winner.

He gave his reasons for picking the "Sammie" character because of his mum, so he probably thought it best to keep the foster care out of the dialogue. I think everything he did and said was calculated. Only slip up was forgetting to mention Charlie after the family messages.

I think Paddy probably had the 'hardest' life, but, we don't really know everything about the others and all of them seemed to have had tough times. But that wasn't what the show was about and I didn't like the gleeful way the COT celebrated when others got blocked.

I think Tim/Woody/Ella were genuine friends in there and not being tactical. That's why Sammie found them easy to manipulate

SnowyZ · 20/10/2019 01:33

Unbelievably I saw Paddy in Manchester today! (Well, yesterday/Saturday). It looked like he was with a couple of people he knew. He had his pink sticks! I didn't speak to him, didn't feel right when I hadn't wanted him to win 😳 my friends I were with hadn't watched The Circle so didn't have a clue what I was going on about!

Mothership4two · 20/10/2019 01:36

I initially was routing for Georgina to win but that ended with the COT fun and games. She showed an unpleasant side to her character. I thought watching her with Ella was pretty vile when she had really stabbed her in the back - especially after all the jibes she had made about other contestants being fake and brown-nosing. Don't think she did her self any favours in the live final, she seemed sulky and self-absorbed and really cheeky when she started to gob off about the prize money. Guess she thought she was the winner.

100PercentThatBitch · 20/10/2019 01:41

I personally thought Georgina was so sulky because after having had time to sit with it she felt completely mugged off by James and had to play nice on camera.
