Shiny new thread all ready for the final tomorrow night love heart emoji ❤️

OP posts:
2Rebecca · 20/10/2019 03:19

I suspect she regretted not being nicer about Woody as well when she found out who he was. Probably totally felt she had picked the wrong team.

KatyCarrCan · 20/10/2019 09:15

I think money and secure parental attachments make being positive and content easier
Yy I agree with this and made a similar point to DS when we were watching. Woody is lovely and positive but obviously (despite their dramas!) comes from a financially-secure, loving home. That impacts massively on who he is and how he faces life.
I can't help but think that ultimately the Circle divided on class lines. Ella, Woody and Tim are obviously middle class. James, Paddy and Georgina seem working class. Yy James went a bit Lord of The Flies towards the end but I don't think it's fair to compare someone with his life experiences with someone like Woody or Tim or Ella. I think Woody was the only one who didn't game play at all. Tim and Ella just did it in a more Tory party behind-closed-doors don't-let-the-cameras-see and deny-all-knowledge way. James, Paddy and Georgina did it in a scrappy, militant way.

wizzler · 20/10/2019 09:34

Just to say katycarr that "a bit lord of the flies" sums up James' antics perfectly.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 20/10/2019 10:00

I think you're right too @KatyCarrCan and as seems to be usual, agree with @2Rebecca (Grin) about Georgina being angry that she picked the wrong team.

lynsey91 · 20/10/2019 11:10

Yes I think Georgina was kicking herself for believing Sammi. Also not being more genuinely friendly with Woody.

I honestly thought she seemed so nice at first but her true colours certainly came out.

I would love to know what exactly she was going to say about the prize money being split. She obviously was not happy at all. Also repeated that stupid phrase of hers "are you kidding on". I have never ever heard anyone else say that

LolaDabestest · 20/10/2019 11:49

Maybe they should decide the winner on the ratings for the whole time in there....which means new people wouldn't get much of a chance so probably wouldn't work....pointless putting people in so late as it's just easy targets for ogs. Was thinking as well paddy's reason to go in was to not get judged on his disability yet his disability is the reason he won.....he used it to his advantage end of, such a hypervrite.

ManonBlackbeak · 20/10/2019 12:21

Im surprised to hear that James was in foster care, in fact the article states he grew up in care. He made such a big thing of how his mum had brough him up on her own as a single parent, but now it sounds like she didn't really bring him up herself at all.

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 20/10/2019 12:39

Maybe his dad was violent and he had to go into foster care for a while, then his mum looked after him when she left his dad? That's the sort of impression I got from the things he's said.

KatyCarrCan · 20/10/2019 12:59

I didn't know he was in foster care but from what he's said, I'd think his dad was violent, his mum went into a refuge and at some point James went into foster care until his mum managed to get him back. I think a mum allowing her DCs to go into foster care if her life is unstable because she's fleeing a violent relationship is very admirable. She would still have brought him up.
lynsey 'are you kidding on' isn't Georgina's phrase Grin It's used a lot in Scotland and some parts of Northern England and in Ireland. It's so common here that I was genuinely surprised that some people had never heard it before.

2Rebecca · 20/10/2019 15:21

"Are you kidding?" Is used in Teeside, along with "I'm only kidding" kidding=joking

LutherRalph1 · 20/10/2019 16:28

Are you kidding is very common, it's the are you kidding on that is unusual (to me anyway)

lynsey91 · 20/10/2019 16:31

Of course I have heard of "are you kidding". It's "are you kidding on" I have never heard of and, let's be honest, it doesn't really make sense

CardiFree · 20/10/2019 16:37

Yy same. The 'on' bit is unusual but she does repeat shout it a lot.

Whatever James's mum went through he obviously understands it and loves her regardless which is lovely. His dad didn't know what he missed out on imo.

SnowyZ wow, whereabouts in Manchester?* Smile.*

doublebarrellednurse · 20/10/2019 16:50

Like I said earlier in the thread "are you kidding on" is very common in Notts/Derby

CardiFree · 20/10/2019 16:52

Sorry must've missed that comment double !

Thismummyruns · 20/10/2019 17:02

Can't believe I watched all of that for Paddy to win Confused

Olinguito · 20/10/2019 18:28

That's just how I feel Thismummyruns! Thank goodness for the public vote.

ManonBlackbeak · 20/10/2019 18:45

Woody has posted on his Instagram stories asking for people to stop giving James a hard time as he was only playing a game.

2Rebecca · 20/10/2019 18:50

Think I'm less bothered about him winning now. He wasn't the most entertaining or interesting person to watch but the people there voted him there and at least he'll use the money and not just give it away. Not that I think it should go to the person who needs the money most otherwise they should just give it to the neediest/ poorest person at the start and not bother with the show. It's a shame something other than money couldn't be the prize.

KatyCarrCan · 20/10/2019 19:18

Like I said earlier in the thread "are you kidding on" is very common in Notts/Derby
This but add Scotland and Ireland. We can tag team commenting this every time someone says it doesn't make sense Grin

I'm glad Woody is asking people to stop giving James a hard time. Ella and Tim clearly game played too. Jay's mum, Joyce, Josh were catfishes. If no-one game played, there wouldn't be a programme.

SpanishFly · 20/10/2019 19:34

Kidding on is very very very common in (west of) scotland, as pp have said.

Strugglingmum73 · 20/10/2019 20:05

I don’t think it’s the fact James was a cat fish that bothered anyone. It was the way he cheered at the downfall of others.

lynsey91 · 20/10/2019 22:03

I live in Notts and have never heard anyone say it. My BIL is from Derby and he has never heard it either

SpanishFly · 20/10/2019 22:32

Ok you've not heard of it, so it can't exist then.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 20/10/2019 22:46

I don't think that's what she meant.
