I’m a bit late to this but I’ve just caught up on last nights episode.

Woody is my favourite, I really hope he wins, he seems like he’s not judging people and trying to see the best in everyone. I don’t think he’s necessarily lied about anything because no one’s asked him about his background or his parents as far as I can see and you wouldn’t normally bring up what your parents do once you’re an adult.

I can see why people like Tim but I don’t find him very genuine, it feels like he’s flattering people to make himself more popular.

The two playing Joyce seem as thick as mince, not thinking about what they already know about people and telling lies without thinking through what other people might ask them about.

I really don’t like Paddy, his voice grates on me and he was judging everyone on their photos before even spoken to them, I deffo think he posted the picture with his crutches for the sympathy vote.

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 09/10/2019 19:30

I don't like Paddy, didn't he say on his first day that he's going to hide his disability until "the time is right" and then crack it out for maximum sympathy?

Which is exactly what he's done.

"Oh you're sooooo brave!!"......for revealing what they'd be able to see instantly if you weren't behind a screen.

Call me cynical but I thought it was a bit pathetic how they were fawning over it.

They're all incredibly patronising about Paddy's disability. It's like they've never known anyone disabled before.

Isthatrightaye · 09/10/2019 21:05

The show would be very interesting with no pics used

Interesting he confirmed chats are limited Not surprising but good to know we are right.

I wonder if no photos will be next years twist! St least to start with

feedingfrenzyatfive · 09/10/2019 21:56

Writing as a person with a hidden disability that 'reveal' of Paddy's condition was bloody awful. All that crying. Rahhhh.

I thought that Ella must have twigged about Woody. Bizarre if she hasn't.

itswinetime · 09/10/2019 22:12

All these people saying I think others would like this more than me I'd live to see them play as both so for her to run an account as josh and an account as herself surely that's the only way to see how people actually feel?

100PercentThatBitch · 09/10/2019 23:09

With the new girl playing as Josh, I felt like she was quite prejudiced/inverted snob herself in some ways and hopefully that's the lesson she'll learn from this.

White people have likes music by black artists since commercial music existed. I don't see why she's surprised by it.

Loveislandaddict · 09/10/2019 23:11

I thought Joyce handled the political discussion okay.

Who do you think Tim and Ella will save. I suspect Woody is safe.

Then maybe Sammie (Tim)?

What happens if they both shave the save person?

100PercentThatBitch · 09/10/2019 23:13

Ella will save Woody

Tim is a harder one to gage, potentially Paddy, Joyce, Brooke or Sammie

Both Joyce and Brooke are in danger from Ella if they aren't Tim's pick

itswinetime · 09/10/2019 23:14

Nothing to dramatic tonight I think the final twist could be interesting...make people show what they are really thinking no more hiding in private chats/anonymous mode as Ella likes! Probably won't be though anything to surprising though woody and either paddy or Sami will be saved I think unless Tim does something clever and strategic!

Its obvious Joyce is going 😂. It was a silly twist all the other catfishes have binders/notebooks of stuff on there characters I don't think these 2 would ever of done well but with no research time they didn't stand a chance!

I'm pretty sure josh would have done better coming in as herself as I genuinely think without that cringing group date chat she would have been stronger! Tim is going to see through the educational job as well.

itswinetime · 09/10/2019 23:18

Crossed posts with a few of you I reckon highest rank Tim will get to pick first then Ella

I think Tim will pick Sami or paddy but he might be clever and take woody as that will then force Ella's hand a bit

Ella will save woody first choice but second I can see her picking paddy or Sami based on her chats.

I think brook is safe her and Ella have chatted a bit this week and Tim likes her I'm 90% sure it will be Joyce that goes they both have doubts about her and both ranked her last

Loveislandaddict · 10/10/2019 08:38

Just a thought, we have a black lady playing a white lad. If a white lad/lady was doing the opposite, ie pretending to be a black person, do you think there would be cries of racism/not-pc/un-ethical? Or people complaining that a black person is perfectly capable of being a black person in there, so why put a white person in Etc.

Maybe I’m overthinking this.

DogsandBoysmeanMud · 10/10/2019 08:52

Loveislandaddict totally disagree. It's not a race thing. The whole thing about catfishing is they can be anyone!

I do think it's a shame that she thinks being a white male is more appealing than being herself!!

Loveislandaddict · 10/10/2019 09:30

Dogs - I agree with you. They can be anyone, and the whole point of the show is to show that we don’t know who we are talking to online. It could be anyone.

CardiFree · 10/10/2019 10:01

I was a bit disappointed that Josh assumed it unusual and a bit niche for a white male to be into grime. I wonder what she'd think of me, a white mother of teens who's been into it since its inception?

2Rebecca · 10/10/2019 11:33

I think if a white person stereotyped a black person the way Josh is stereotyping "posh white boys" there would be cries of racism instantly. "Josh"'s identity politics is quite nasty. She clearly has a very superficial view of young men like Josh or she wouldn't assume they liked lentils and cous cous and only liked certain music.

MrsLEB · 10/10/2019 12:13

I agree with the comments. I too was disappointed regarding josh's surprise at being a group of 3 white people liking grime. I'm unsure if whether a white person cat fishing as being a black person and stereotyping some of their food/interests etc. (appreciate she hasn't stereotyped it all) would be as acceptable.

KatyCarrCan · 10/10/2019 12:41

I wondered if Woody slipped in the #PraiseHer to Ella to see if she'd admit she knew who his parents were.
I think the girl playing 'Josh' has had quite a sheltered/insular life with their surprise that white people liked grime and their belief that lentils and couscous would be a standard first date meal. I laughed a lot at that.
I'm liking James/Sammie. The morality of what he's doing is questionable but I do find him funny. Grin

fruitpastille · 10/10/2019 13:32

I like James a lot more when he lets his natural personality come through. He's v quick witted and funny which is much better than the fakeness about 'Charlie' which is so dull!

2Rebecca · 10/10/2019 13:43

Who is Charlie?

Babybel90 · 10/10/2019 13:47

I think ‘Josh’ thinks she’s really clever but then fell at the first hurdle with her cous cous and lentils comment, it was so odd it made me wonder if she’s ever spent any time at all with anyone outside of her own community?

InglouriousBasterd · 10/10/2019 13:48

I’m not surprised if Ella hasn’t picked up on who Woody is tbh - she was 6 when he was born and unless she’s really looked into Zoe Ball and Fat Boy (other than liking his music) she’d have no idea. I missed the first episode and still didn’t click who Woody was at first, and I remember when he was born!
