OP posts:

Last year, a woman pretended she was a cancer doctor Shock . She was rightly slated by the public for it.

2Rebecca · 09/10/2019 09:34

But why is that lie worse than others? People lie to try and win the game. It is a game.

SpanishFly · 09/10/2019 10:10

OK, I get that pretending you're a single mum is exploitative, but using cancer in your lie is a bit much.
I agree, tho, it is a game - it's not about being the most truthful, it's about getting people onside

itswinetime · 09/10/2019 10:35

It wasn't that she had cancer it was that she worked as a cancer doctor to be honest I don't see much difference to exploiting be a single mum 🤷🏻‍♀️ Totally different if she said she was a cancer survivor!

Apparently the new girl wants to prove white male privilege as she is sure he will be more popular than her! I'm not sure how you can do that though unless you also go in as yourself they may have loved her.

LolaDabestest · 09/10/2019 11:06

I don't like paddy in all honestly disability or not, he's not a nice person...though he did take the time out to ask Tim about himself but maybe that was to get him on side 🤨
And he has blatantly outed his disability for the ratings!
Felt sorry for Tim with the whole #bestie thing. And fucking "sammy" saying she can't wait for Charlie to meet Tim and be a grandpa blah da blah was a step to far imo.

Did anyone else get a bit suss when Ella starting singing praise you after talking to woody brilliant 😁

itswinetime · 09/10/2019 11:13

Not really as woody made the comment first.

I did feel a bit sorry for Tim but I'm also finding I'm like others more and Tim is slipping a little bit that maybe the fact the are showing others more now 🤷🏻‍♀️

LolaDabestest · 09/10/2019 11:33

Yeah he did but to sing the song I thought was funny? Maybe just me 🙈 mm not sure about the Tim thing...feel people were maybe sucking up when he was obviously popular but now others are winning the ratings people are up there arses like Brooke with Ella....

EttyG · 09/10/2019 11:43

Whoever called it on the race catfish looks like they were bang on, looking at the trailer for tonight! Black woman being white male!

Yep that was me. It definitely feels like the producers have had a tick list of the different types of catfishes and I'm sure there has been far, far more this year than last year. But I expect the producers have gone out searching specifically for these and the people can only go on if they agree to the catfish role.

SpanishFly · 09/10/2019 12:25

I personally think there's a difference between saying you're a single mum versus a cancer doctor. It's immoral. I personally couldn't lie about cancer patients etc purely to gain likes.
BUT as I said, I do agree that it's just a game and the point is to get people liking you.

itswinetime · 09/10/2019 12:42

She was the first out so she didn't really have a chance to say much about being a doctor or anything at all for that matter but I can see why it would upset people.

I still think calling people grandpa/auntie etc to a baby that doesn't exist it's pretty low But I think all emotional catfishes are pretty grim.

Jay being his mum, Beth using a different picture even Richard pretending to be Judy it didn't hurt anyone the ones that pull on heart strings are all pretty immoral I think but yes I guess for 100k people will do most things.

Starlight456 · 09/10/2019 12:59

I would love Woody to win and yes I would be very proud if he was my son. Has more integrity than most in there.

2Rebecca · 09/10/2019 13:27

I'm not sure spending the game trying to decide who the catfishes are is the best way to win it. The programme shows how superficial many friendships are as Sammi makes himself popular by just being nice to people and flattering them. Woody Tim and Ella are the only 3 who have showed much of their personality as in likes and dislikes.
I think the players should ignore the profile pictures and how much they like the look of people as that may be deceiving, as well as whether or not they have a child, pet, disability, what job they claim to do.
They should just go with how much they like the character the person portrays in the game, ignoring bland flattering stuff, being called someone's "bestie" etc.
That way whether or not someone is a catfish or not won't mattered and you won't feel let down if the person isn't the person in their profile pics.

SpanishFly · 09/10/2019 13:49

I'm still not seeing why PP are saying Ella and Paddy are vicious or nasty or whatever?
I can't say I've warmed to Paddy yet, but I don't see how he's being nasty?

Did anyone else get a bit suss when Ella starting singing praise you after talking to woody Yes. Totally. At the start of this thread, many of us said it is suss that nobody has their suspicions that he's Zoe/Norman's son, as it's an uncommon name and he lives in Brighton. Now that Ella has made it clear she knows/heard of Fatboy Slim, and said Praise You is "one of his best songs", I'd be surprised if she knows literally nothing else about him.
Most of us know one or two facts about singers we like, even if they're not our favourites. I wonder if she's slightly twigged and knows it's in her interests to ham it up a bit but not mention it

SpanishFly · 09/10/2019 13:53

I'm not sure spending the game trying to decide who the catfishes are is the best way to win it.
Yes, definitely, trying to work out who's a catfish is making them more paranoid - and as they know, it doesnt actually matter if they're catfish to win the game. I kind of understand Woody and Tim wondering who is, as they are being 100% themselves, and feel that someone who is lying maybe doesnt deserve to win? But James trying to work out who's a catfish is just odd, given that he's lying through his teeth!

2Rebecca · 09/10/2019 14:36

I think Alex/Kate showed last time that you can be a catfish and still let your personality shine through although we probably saw a different personality to the housemates. He didn't give Kate many strong interests or pets she could be caught out on though and she was the same age which makes it easier so no "yoof" or "old lady" speak required although the catfishes tend to overdo those which makes them sound silly. Beth and Jack are poor catfishes because they didn't have any genuine interests to give Joyce so made up easily caught out ones. They both seem very superficial. They only ever seemed interested in the appearances of the other contestants as well and how much they fancied them and were fancied.

2Rebecca · 09/10/2019 14:41

I'm not sure I see Paddy as nasty, just silly and superficial
. He seemed to be trying to be like Freddy and just hamming up the gay thing and how much he fancied different blokes as well, I'm not sure I've learned much about Paddy apart from the facts that he is gay and disabled, oh and Irish.

SpanishFly · 09/10/2019 14:58

2Rebecca, yes I agree on all those points - I just don't think there's anything nasty or vile about him, which a few PPs have said.

I cannot understand why Beth and Jack didnt sit down and write a character/family tree etc befor going live as Joyce - they seemed to have plenty time to write her bio and chat. Writing a quick checklist would have been so useful, rather than making it up as they go along, and using words like "super" (like older people have the monolpoly on certain words!)

itswinetime · 09/10/2019 15:08

I took an instant dislike to paddy I found him a bit judgmental of others I think but that may have been nerves as he hasn't seemed like that the last few nights. I completely agree he hasn't really shown us much of himself and I still think he has a calculating side but it's a game he is playing it so maybe being calculated is a good thing 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think it's natural to wonder in fact I find it odd that Georgina seems to take Everyone at face value! But Tim and woodys attitude of hunting catfishes seems a good balance to me!

If Joyce and the newbie are immune from rankings as normal who are we thinking for influencers and who might go?

I think Ella woody and maybe Brooke might be up there as influencer..... I think Georgina and Sammi are probably most at risk.

itswinetime · 09/10/2019 15:15

The daily drop is out and it looks like the new catfish is about as good as Joyce 😂😂. And Beth is being judged on her looks not her shit personality I'm sure and fighting well bickering with Jack

Loveislandaddict · 09/10/2019 15:37

Cynical me wondered whether Woody was told told to include the lyrics or hint at his background to the others, or whether he was testing the waters to see if anyone had sussed him out.

2Rebecca · 09/10/2019 15:38

I don't see why people like Brook. She seems very bland although capable of being tactical but gets huffy if people are the same with her. Maybe the blandness means she isn't unlikeable and isn't seen as a threat to keep in

itswinetime · 09/10/2019 15:51

No one sees Brooke's huffy side expect us though in the circle she is all sweetness and light checking in on everyone, I'm always here if you need me! No one sees her savage side as it's all anonymous! I think that's why she seems popular in the circle but I don't like her.

100PercentThatBitch · 09/10/2019 15:51

I think Ella might know who Woody is, perhaps even the second she went in, and so had motive to befriend him.

If they both move in festival circles, someone may have once pointed him out as "Fatboy Slims son"

It's an unusual enough name for someone to have for someone to have once said

"Oh you know what Fatboy Slim called his kid?!

Woody! "

MotherOfSoupDragons · 09/10/2019 16:34

I'm now convinced that the producers are completely orchestrating this. Telling them who to chat to and often what to say. Like all 'reality' TV. Sigh.

Rollergirl11 · 09/10/2019 16:42

I also wonder if Woody was testing the waters to see if Ella knows who he is. It’s specific wording and not something that he could have used coincidentally. Did it even make sense within the conversation that they were having? Ella picked up on it and referenced the song but I don’t think she’s put two and two together as she seemed oblivious when singing it.
