I think the solicitor is implicated somehow, he was really freaked out when Shaun went to see him after being arrested for the abduction, really freaked out like he didn’t want anything to do with him. He was the one who supposedly found that the Helmand footage was dodgy.

I think there’s a possibility that Shaun is being set up as a fall guy, because who would believe that someone has fallen victim to dodgy CCTV twice.
I also think he knew or knew of the four men in the sycamore case, they lingered the shot as he passed them at court.

We’re only half way through so I’m probably totally wrong, I do think I’m right about them being married and the barrister uncovering sycamore though

If Hannah was working on a case to do with sycamore it would explain why someone was in her flat, to try and find anything relating to it, I don’t understand why the police weren’t there though already going through her things as she was classed as a missing person.

Agree that Lia Williams' character is married to/partner of Carey's ex boss shag. Carey seemed to react to her name. And everyone knows that she was shagging her boss, and resents her sharp rise through the ranks, as well as resents the fact she's fast track and avoids some of the grunt work.

It did look like Matty in the video being tortured , either his been brainwashed or it's another ' lookie likey' stand in. Or his in on it all. He is an ex soldier I think?
It was funny how Lucas said about the celeb porn videos that are ' doctored' : a bit of humour amongst the dark goings on.

I found the whole thing where the footage was shown to Shaun in front of his solicitor (Hannah's colleague) and the colleague didn't know Hannah had been abducted was not very realistic but was for effect, of course.

I can totally get why the solicitor would be freaked out to see Shaun.

I think we know Shaun is innocent because if he knew where Hannah was he would have told the guy when he thought his friend was being tortured but it would be a real twist if he was guilty!

His ex's new partner seems a bit of a twit! not getting the girl away from the TV!

I don't think Lia Williams' character was married to the guy Rachel is shagging, I think she is married to someone else but she worked for him and also had an affair with him at some point. Just a guess.

The bit i found revelatory was that cia man did not know where hanna was and did not know about the intruder in her flat. I am assuming cia are in charge with collusion from at least part of mi5. I am assuming female grey hair is mi5 link and grey hair man is police so15 link. It seems there could be a 3rd group. If cia did not abduct hannah then does it mean there are two groups faking cctv? Aagghhh
In terms of who to trust i would say shaun, rach, shauns ex, his mate up to the point he was forced to fuk him, tv guy, council cctv operator, probably rach's two cops and my thinking is finchy from the office murder team detective. He seems like a grouchy straight shooter. Who is acting in official national interest and who might be corrupt or rogue is another matter - assume it turns out to be morally nuanced

The two cops helping Rachel might be double crossers ? I don't think they are , but there are a lot of ' goodies' and not many ' baddies' about which might be a ruse.
I can't believe that grey haired woman is going to let her go and meet Shaun on her own. (She might not yet, but nobody followed her out last night! )
On a lighter note, how do they stay all stay so glamorous when they are chasing about in cars up and down stairs etc etc? Clothes looked well pressed hair never out of place!

Still not 100% convinced that Mat betrayed Shaun - if he did, it was such a good performance in the lockup! The scene with the fingers would have been relatively easy for the CIA to fake. But - if not Mat, who texted Shaun on the burner phone?

What was the point of the extra blind spot - was the idea that Shaun went there to swap cars and drive Hannah's body somewhere? Or put her body in the boot of Mat's car? But that's not possible - even if he'd done that, there would still have been Hannah's dna in his own car boot - which we know there wasn't!

With Rachel on his side I hope he'll be ok!

So Shaun thinks his only friend now is his grandfather - maybe he can save the day. Or perhaps the ex will step up - she obviously believed he was innocent.

So white haired lady is definitely the Group Captain's wife and has set out to discredit Rachel Carey as well as whatever murky MI5 stuff she's got going on. Unfortunately HG looked like she was about to cry during most of the episode, I found that off putting.

Sycamore was obviously a wipe - how Shaun found the expert in the crowd was odd but his comment about the guy clearly living alone was hilarious. Agree Hannah's next case was another MOD one.

My theory is the Americans never went near Mat, and the whole cctv scene with him in the cell was a fake - I just don't think Mat had the acting skills to do that garage scene if he was being forced to do it by the CIA! (If he did, I think his drama teachers at school are to be judged for not having encouraged him to try acting professionally!) However, someone put the body in his car boot, so I may be wrong, and it was a set up by the CIA.

Why does the CIA care about Hannah's whereabouts though - sounds as though it was the MoD who had reason to fear her. Inclined to agree that the solicitor man will reappear at some point - whether as goody or baddy I haven't decided!

Did Group Captain Peter Townsend actor know that the cctv was fake, I wonder? I rewatched a bit of ep 1 (I know! sad) and he seemed to suggest that Rachel had spotted the incriminating sycamore cctv first, which suggested to me that he isn't in on any plot.
