Not team Sidney...but then again not team Charlotte either! Don't like the pair of them.

englishmummyinwales · 06/10/2019 19:13

I don’t even know where that last half sentence came from!

colouringinpro · 06/10/2019 20:15

ready for tonight's nonsense?!

Kit19 · 06/10/2019 20:58

@ReturnofSaturn honestly same! I really wanted to like Charlotte and be “yay go you” but as it’s gone on and she continues to say & do so many daft things I’m very much ‘you & Sidney deserve each other’

FatherFintanFay · 06/10/2019 20:59

Not really! That clip in the boat is utterly ridiculous. No respectable man would have touched a woman like that, and a respectable woman would have been horrified if he had. She wouldn't have just sat there simpering.

Also, I am pretty sure that prostitutes had even grimmer lives back then than we could possibly imagine. Most of them would have had painful STIs and would have been constantly at risk from being beaten, raped, or murdered. They wouldn't have been clean, either, because practically nobody was back then. I bet if they did have any teeth, it was only because they couldn't afford sugar! Still, the tertiary syphilis would have taken care of that eventually...

Kit19 · 06/10/2019 20:59

@englishmummyinwales idk but it sounds like we should all join in with our wishes :D 😊

Kit19 · 06/10/2019 21:05

@FatherFintanFay I think that’s the thing. Men & women didn’t touch each other the way we do now, it wasn’t done but clearly that is inconvenient for Andrew Davies go remember

Didn’t rich young men go off to Europe for the “grand tour” where they were expected to learn the ropes do you speak?

@kit19 indeed! 🤫 Enjoy the episode, see you on the other side!

homeeddays · 06/10/2019 21:07

Sanditon time ❤️❤️❤️

homeeddays · 06/10/2019 21:17

More skinny dipping?

FatherFintanFay · 06/10/2019 21:18

It was common for men to visit bawdy houses before they were married and thus pass syphilis on to their unsuspecting wives. They'd then have trouble keeping a pregnancy and would be subjected to a string of miscarriages, which obviously they'd be blamed for. Women had a really terrible deal back then!

Ooh, Lady Denham lives! I bet she remembers a lot more of what Esther told her than anybody would really like...

BloggersBlog · 06/10/2019 21:25

Oooh she is back! That'll teach them Grin

FatherFintanFay · 06/10/2019 21:25

Hahaha, ok, that was pretty satisfying.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 06/10/2019 21:28

AD squeezed in a wet white shirt moment!

Poor Stringer in that ridiculous brown hat. No way can he have any hope.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 06/10/2019 21:29

And why do people keep going into Ms Lamb’s bedroom? It’s not the biggest flaw but grates!

BloggersBlog · 06/10/2019 21:35

AD squeezed in a wet shirt moment

"When it comes to love, there are no foregone conclusions."

Lady Susan clearly hasn't met Andrew Davies.
