3 different ladies and how they cope trying to keep afloat with their lives

The only good things were the views of the Lake District.
That's why I'm going to watch - I'll probably spend time trying to decide where the views are and not taking any notice of the plot!

BazzleJet · 15/08/2019 08:46

Radio Times says bear with it.

That house does have a downstairs loo, it was on the market recently and I still have it as a saved property in Rightmove 😁

mnahmnah · 15/08/2019 08:50

I grew up in the lakes and visit regularly. Here at the moment which made me and my mum laugh at it even more! As well as spot the locations. But yes, disappointed in the predictable characterisation of women and the prostitution, shagging at a dinner party etc. All so relatable Confused

See!

That’s a lovely downstairs toilet but no use for shagging a complete stranger in Grin

NotStayingIn · 15/08/2019 09:08

I agree with all the points raised and yet I still enjoyed it. I will stick with it. Think I’m just in the mood for something a bit silly and lighter so this fits the bill.

NotStayingIn · 15/08/2019 09:09

I think that toilet is bigger then my flat! Shock

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 15/08/2019 09:43

Yes . I wanted to like it and the scenary is absolutley stunning , but it wasn't as great as I thought . As for the shag in the bathroom , well, what can I say except its not something I would do but its a programme so .. ..
The house they went too though is rather beautiful .

CurlyhairedAssassin · 15/08/2019 09:44

Grin at that downstairs lol! Not much privacy! Imagine when you’re sitting on that on full show to visitors and the Jehovah’s Witnesses come round Shock

CurlyhairedAssassin · 15/08/2019 09:46

I ended up watching episode 1, then 6, then a bit of 2 because the story development between one and 6 was so silly. It was all terrible.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 15/08/2019 09:50

That loo is amazing!! Can you link to the whole house

Don't know if this will work, it's no longer on the market

BazzleJet · 15/08/2019 09:59

When I watched the programme last night I recognised the trefoil seat in the dressing room where the sisters were arguing and the tiles in the hallway. Then I started looking properly.

We were thinking of buying the house but it was about £3.5million more than we could afford 😄 And the boathouse was across a path from the garden/land - no lake frontage of its own

StayAChild · 15/08/2019 10:44

It's another one of those dramas where we spend the whole duration saying 'who would do that?' What a load of rubbish.

I'm sure Anna Friel's daughter who was supposed to be having a sleep over wouldn't just forget about the friend/picking her up from school, whether it was on the calendar or not. It would be the highlight of her week. The friend would know the sleepover was likely cancelled when her friend wasn't in school and her phone was turned off.

I don't think I've ever seen so many plot holes in a single episode of any drama.

howwudufeel · 15/08/2019 11:22

I laughed when Anna Friel’s husband/boyfriend suddenly left the table without explanation so that she could flirt with the other man.

The80sweregreat · 15/08/2019 12:10

Read the books! They are far more believable!

HelloJackieYouLookNice · 15/08/2019 12:29

It annoyed me from the first scene. Why did the girls have life jackets but the boys didn’t? And as if everyone else on the boat would just stand around looking gormless when there is a child in the water!

Yes as well to the sleepover thing - they are in secondary school so presumably able to arrange to get themselves home if their lift doesn’t show? Or phone a parent? They aren’t 5!

mnahmnah · 15/08/2019 12:53

The other thing that was odd, was when Anna friel’s son was telling his siblings in front of her that the other boy pushed him off the boat on purpose. She didn’t say a thing

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/08/2019 13:51

Just watching now

So she goes to dinner and explores their house and shags her friends bil surgeon in the loo

Classy

I thought she had a happy Marriage. Seems not

@howwudufeel sums it up

But im enjoying. Easy watching

Quite. As the girls are like 14 or something (and look about 21) they would have the sense to use their phone, or at the least, someone else's, if they weren't picked up. And who at that age relies on a parent to pick them up from school anyway? If I forgot about a sleepover I'd soon remember when the girls turned up at my house!

StayAChild · 15/08/2019 14:53

And as if everyone else on the boat would just stand around looking gormless when there is a child in the water!

Exactly! Also, the Mum's face when the poor boy was oiked out of the lake. She smiled Confused. Where was the panic?

I've decided, I can't bear these dramas when everyone is so disorganised and rushing about from one disaster to another, usually in the rain. It really stresses me. Keeping Faith is the same. Angry It's just not necessary to the story.

floribunda18 · 15/08/2019 15:01

Everyone could see the kid was about to fall off the boat. There is a gap in the railing, all standing up, father about to put his foot on the throttle (or whatever you do it a boat), no-one wearing lifejackets.

Keeping Faith is utterly brilliant though and there is no comparison to this nonsense.

The80sweregreat · 15/08/2019 16:35

In the book the mum rings the friend in the morning and just says ' I hope the girls are ok' but she doesn't twig that her daughter is meant to be at theirs overnight , it's all a misunderstanding. This isn't explained very well in the drama though. It actually makes sense on a page as something that could happen.

QueenietheCutie · 15/08/2019 17:03

Made it to the end of episode 1 but couldn't tell you the names of any of the characters apart from (some of) the children. That's not a good sign is it?!
