Do you secretly enjoy children's tv?

So I'm not at this stage yet of son watching many tv shows (he's 9 months and only watches 1 or 2 and not very often) but I've seen threads on here about how some of you hate certain TV shows. My question is do you secretly enjoy them/one?

Last night son was being a pain to settle so I took him into the living room (we live in a flat) while partner said he was going on Netflix (he had put son down for the night). So when son finally settled and fell asleep I put him in his cot. And partner was falling asleep so I went to go to the home page of Netflix but partner woke up and he asked what I was doing and he paused it and I saw he was watching pj masks. I asked him why he was watching it and he said he likes it.

He told me not to tell anyone because they would make fun of him.

So it turns out he enjoys pj masks.

They should put hey duggee on at pub kicking out time. It's hilarious.

My bittersweet favourite though is Tee and Mo. It can make me a bit teary at times because I feel so alone parenting sometimes and it's such a happy caring programme. If I'm having a bad day I try to stop getting cross with my toddlers and channel Mo a bit instead. Sometimes it works.

I used to love coming home from work on a Friday evening and crashing out on the sofa to In The Night Garden while the DCs ignored it Grin

Go Jetters is great. Hey Dugee too.

I'm not fussed about daytime TV so CBeebies used to get left on and I'd quite often gawp at it and find it strangely soothing.

Horrible Histories is fab.

I've bought a box set of Maid Marrian and her Merry Men and the DCs and I both find it hysterically funny Grin

Hey dugee
Adventures of abney and teal
Shaun the sheep.

EyeDrops · 08/08/2019 23:24

@rosawaiting I think it's Henny?? I know exactly the bit you mean 🙈

Kids TV is often more entertaining that grown-up TV. Favourites are:

Bluey (Australian show, very relatable, highly recommended - has it made it to BBC yet?)
Hey Duggee
Ben and Holly
Peg + Cat (the songs are very clever)
Sarah and Duck
Wally Kazam (great songs and great for letter/sound recognition)
Kiri & Lou
Horrible Histories
Klangers
Go Jetters
We Bare Bears

My toddler loves Shaun The Sheep and I have to admit, I love the movie more than he does! I love the innocence of it all. It's part of the whole package.

stucknoue · 24/08/2019 21:00

Older kids tv can be very good, my kids are grown now but I watched things like Tracey Beaker, and we all (even dh) watched a really good Australian show a while back now but it was definitely made to entertain the parents too.

missmouse101 · 24/08/2019 21:03

I used to love Balamory! And fancy PC Plum 😁!

Mumshappy · 24/08/2019 21:06

I love cbeebies but evie the presenter spoils it and she seems to be in every slot they have between programmes.
My favourites are Molly and Mack and Justin's house.
I also secretly watch Victorious on Netflix on my own.

MrsMoastyToasty · 24/08/2019 21:13

I used to enjoy Balamory, but that's because I know Tobermory where it was filmed quite well.

Drogonssmile · 24/08/2019 21:19

I quite like Hey Duggee and Ben and Holly. I like the subtle adult humour.
Luckily so do/did my DSs.
Can't STAND Bing though. DS2 (nearly 3) is going through a Bing phase and I'm sure he's only doing it to see how far he can push me until I completely lose my marbles.

formerbabe · 24/08/2019 21:21

My dc are older and mainly watch cbbc. It's fantastic. I was never a fan of cartoons and tv for pre school children but the stuff for older kids is great. I love Hetty Feather, The dumping ground, my life, our school, Millie inbetween, Jamie Johnson etc

BiblioPogo · 24/08/2019 21:35

I am a little obsessed with Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, which I got into thanks to some memes popping up on Pintrest, So I'm glad some PPs have mentioned it too.

I don't have Disney channel though, so I'm a series and a half behind Sad

LMW1990 · 24/08/2019 22:01

Absolutely not. Most of it is nonsensical and drives me completely crackers. Especially the silly videos they find and play over and over and over and over and over on YouTube. Most are uneducational at best. Peppa sodding Pig sparked a hatred of carrots in our house!

sorenipples · 24/08/2019 22:18

Numberblocks! The film spoofs made me laugh, the zero song is very catchy and i got weirdly excited when the numbers got big at the end of the last season.

isitautumnyet · 26/08/2019 18:57

@formerbabe I am also a Millie in between fan 😂

bananacakerox · 28/08/2019 00:24

I loved the wonder pets, the music was excellent!

FedUpOfItNow · 02/09/2019 06:23

I love Miraculous and akso quite enjoy Elena of Avalor and Sophia the first

Deathraystare · 05/09/2019 10:41

I actually switched to (I think) ITV on Sunday? It was showing Jurassic Park - with Lego characters! There was about two episodes. I loved it (normally don't watch kids tv).

morningtoncrescent62 · 05/09/2019 15:24

Showing my age, I used to love watching Rugrats with mine when they were little. Sabrina the Teenage Witch was my favourite when they were a bit older. I can't remember any of the others, they've all become a bit of a blur!

ValancyRedfern · 06/09/2019 18:11

I love Peppa Pig. Loads of comedy for the grown ups. Unlike Paw Patrol which gives the grown ups nothing. Love all the 'Andy' programmes too although 'dinosaur' is the best because Hattie is the expert, unlike all the others where he mansplains everything to Jen.

ValancyRedfern · 06/09/2019 18:11

Numberblocks also awesome. The film noir one is a classic!

ValancyRedfern · 06/09/2019 18:14

Also Storybots on Netflix is amazing! Also love Dinosaur Train but really hard to get here. Yes I totally love kids TV!

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 23/09/2019 12:24

I love Dragons: Race to the Edge. I'll happily watch it for hours. Horrible Histories is good too as I didn't do much history at school. Operation Ouch is also a favourite in this house.

Peccary · 24/09/2019 07:56

I enjoy octonauts, go jetters and hey duggee. DD (2) is obsessed with Sarah and Duck. It's adorable, I get a bit happy when one I haven't seen comes on. I love the little world they live in
