Yes I too was wondering how high ranking Gileadeans would be allowed in Canada at all.

And unless there's major skullduggery afoot, there is absolutely zero chance that Fred would have allowed Serena to go to Canada without him. He's become a totally different character and it's simply not plausible.

Yvonne Strahovoski is so beautiful. Even in the prim 'wife' uniform. But in 'normal' clothes, she's asolutely stunning.

Totally agree about the incongruities. The Gilead commanders would not refer to Luke as June's husband. Nor would Fred refer to Hannah as Luke's first child. It's like the scriptwriting team don't even care any more.

Gilead would never acknowledge a second marriage or child born in a second marriage. I hope this is the sign of Gilead starting to crumple and not the writers forgetting the key elements of the Gilead created by Margaret Atwood.

Serena is wanted in Canada for war crimes. This was established in the last season when mr tuello offered her a deal- she gave up all she knew about Gilead and He would set her up in Hawaii (I think?) there is no way they would let her Swan into Canada to say goodbye to a baby without her giving up something that would help Canada fight Gilead.

Makes no sense to me why Serena would go back to Gilead. Her 'daughter' is in Canada and she has nothing in Gilead. Plus she has lost whatever belief she might have had in the system. Why on earth would she go back? She wouldn't.

Wish she'd claimed asylum rather than mention how she's protecting his wife ..

Luke dropped a massive opportunity there.

Instead of "you will never be anything to her" he should have said: The only way you will ever be anything to her, is if we can one day say to her "This is the woman who helped get your mom and big sister safe and here with us" - then she will have cause to love you, and we will too

Another inconsistency: the handmaid just said she hadn’t told her commander she was pregnant. In the first season the Martha’s checked the handmaids underwear for period when she was due on so they would know straight away she was late and report to the commander.

Where are they taking her??

This is turning into a completely different drama from the one it began as.

What did going to Canada achieve if they were going to do an appeal to get her back like that? I'm struggling to follow because so little is happening.
