Every episode is like Groundhog Day.

I don't know what Groundhog Day is but I love Gentleman Jack. Suranne Jones deserves an award for her portrayal of Ann Lister.

Medievalist · 23/06/2019 22:07

You don't know what Groundhog Day is? 😮

StVincent · 23/06/2019 22:08

Yes it’s amazing! Don’t get what you mean about Groundhog Day. There are ongoing plots which recur each episode if that’s what you mean?

*i haven’t seen tonight’s episode yet, so my apologies if Bill Murray turns up to do the weather

HollowTalk · 23/06/2019 22:09

I was going to watch the news but GJ is still on - anyone know why?

SoupDragon · 23/06/2019 22:09

I am finding it tedious.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/06/2019 22:11

I am enjoying it but a bit bored of the coal story. I have no idea what Groundhog Day is either.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/06/2019 22:12

I think somethingnover ran. Antiques roadshow was late

Chilledout11 · 23/06/2019 22:14

I absolutely love it but tonight's episode could have been done in ten mins. But glad there are two more.

GruciusMalfoy · 23/06/2019 22:14

I have last week's ep, and today's still to see. But I've been quite disappointed with the series, so I don't know when I'll get round to watching them.

Sewrainbow · 23/06/2019 22:14

I'm enjoying it....

Maybe I'm old as I have heard of groundhog day Grin

Hepzibar · 23/06/2019 22:18

It just seems tedious, maybe Groundhog not accurate description.

The last 10 minutes of tonight's episode was good.

Suranne Jones is fab. She is the best 'cryer' ever.

Late running due to football (now that was a drama!)

i find it dull and repetitive too. I don't really care about the characters and have given up watching.
I can't believe there are posters who don't get a Groundhog Day reference. It even comes up on predictive text!

Ginger1982 · 23/06/2019 22:28

Groundhog Day - the same day happening over and over again.

practicalmagick · 23/06/2019 22:28

The real story of this thread is people not knowing what Groundhog Day is! Go and watch the film immediately, you're missing out!

JaneJeffer · 23/06/2019 22:33

I've got it all on Sky+ but haven't got round to watching yet. I just came on here to see if it was any good. I read the book back in the 90's which nobody on here apart from OP was alive during Grin

TeapotofTerror · 23/06/2019 22:41

I got bored with Gentleman Jack too but I really want to go and watch Groundhog Day now, haven't seen it in years!

TheStuffedPenguin · 24/06/2019 06:56

Gave up as was just a bit boring ...

Pebble21uk · 24/06/2019 07:59

Yes... I've been waiting for 30 years for this kind of representation on screen. One person's boring is another person's groundbreaking!

BenWillbondsPants · 24/06/2019 08:05

I have up about 3 eps ago.

crimsonlake · 24/06/2019 08:05

I was on the fence about it at first and kind of gave up. Returned to it as I could find nothing else to watch. I am actually enjoying it, although I do not particularly like Suranne Jones as an actress, love a period drama and lots of well known faces appear.

ZaZathecat · 24/06/2019 14:13

I love it.

LoafofSellotape · 24/06/2019 14:17

I think last night's episode was stretched out a bit to make the series into 6 episodes, it could've been condensed into 10 mins imo.

The companion book is really interesting and am enjoying it.

fishonabicycle · 24/06/2019 14:17

Love it too. Suranne Jones is fantastic.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 24/06/2019 14:21

I love it, but found last nights episode a bit long. Not much happening. Hints at plot lines that don’t seem to resolve. I really enjoyed it to start with, but it’s slowing down the pace. I love AL and want to find out more about her life, she’s fabulous.
