Has anyone else seen the first episode?

I watched all of season 1 again yesterday in preparation.

Merry Streep was really good and I love Reese Witherspoon.

I had predicted Celeste might be pregnant this series but apparently not.

They’re all stand alone. Some are lighter than others. For a holiday I’d choose Three Wishes.

I’ve just had a look on my bookshelves as I struggle to remember the names and I think there’s one I didn’t finish and barely remember so that’s my evening sorted! Smile

The hypnotist’s love story is probably the toughest, very sad in places. I loved what Alice forgot and found it really moving but it’s also quite sad depending on your own life.

She has a real knack with characters, enjoying!

Alice, I’ve derailed by banging on about books, apologies!

AliceRR · 04/07/2019 19:38

Don’t apologise Anne I love the books too!

Okay alice. Maybe we should start a books thread, I see you around MN in various places and you seem lovely Smile

AliceRR · 04/07/2019 23:50

Anne Yes we should! I’m enjoying my audiobooks a bit more than TV at the moment. I do read books but I like an audiobook as I can put it on while washing up, hoovering, driving etc. That’s so kind of you to say. I’ve “seen” you on other threads too and it would be lovely to chat more 😊

I think it was me who derailed by asking about the books, so apologies! And thank you, Anne. I actually quite like 'heavier' books on holiday as it's the only time I get to really concentrate and immerse myself in them (last summer hols I read Kamila Shamsie's Home Fire ). I might try to binge on a few of them.

AnneLovesGilbert · 05/07/2019 13:31

nikita Smile

Enjoy your holiday and some good books!

The one I haven’t read/finished is Truly, madly, deeply and it looks promising.

Looking forward to the next episode of the show!

LoafofSellotape · 05/07/2019 13:36

My favourite was The Anniversary, story telling at its best imo.

DarlingNikita · 05/07/2019 13:36

Thank you, Anne!

LoafofSellotape · 05/07/2019 13:36

**The Last Anniversary

LoafofSellotape · 05/07/2019 13:37

Just realised I haven't read Truly Madly Guilty, will download it asap!

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/07/2019 19:07

Ms is fab and the worst mil to have

Does bonnies mum have the gift to sense /see things but holding onto someone

Think she knows she pushed perry

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/07/2019 19:26

LOve a recap e4 recap

AnneLovesGilbert · 08/07/2019 16:05

Caught up this morning. Getting pretty bored of the flash backs now, we get the point...

And I agree that the pace has slowed, still the meander but not sure where it’s all going.

Interesting about bonnie’s mum. Ages since I read the book but I thought it was her dad who’d been violent in her childhood which resulted in her swift reaction to Perry slapping Celeste. Seems not?

Nathan is such a tosser. Honestly Hmm

Do you think one of the twins is going to say he wants to live with MS?

LoafofSellotape · 08/07/2019 16:23

Oh dear God it's so flipping dull now! Kidman huffing and puffing all the time is ridiculous too, she sounded like a steam train when she was at the table talking to her boys.Hmm

Can you imagine if there's a third series?!

supercee · 08/07/2019 16:58

Nicole Kidman is really annoying in this, is it just me or did her accent slip back more than once into Aussie?

I hope things ramp up in the next few episodes.

LoafofSellotape · 08/07/2019 17:01

She was full on Aussie at one point when she was yelling 😂

supercee · 08/07/2019 17:28

Yes! @LoafofSellotape the shouting scene definitely Grin

TremblingFanjo · 08/07/2019 19:01

What - so the new boyfriend is a policeman? Where is the Coffee shop guy????

Theromanempire · 08/07/2019 22:19

Interesting ending! So Cory is an undercover police officer is he?? And why was the theatre director in the bar watching his wife crack on to Ed??

And yes, I am very fed up of watching NK pout, huff and puff and slip into an Aussie accent when she gets angry!

mikado1 · 08/07/2019 22:37

That's terrible if he's an undercover cop... Can they do that? So he knows about Perry, but so does half the town. I'm afraid one of the twins will say "Mom told us to say we wanted to live here'. Their hair is amazing! Bonnie was on way to admit it but... Don't think she will now after seeing him. And what did her mother say?

AnneLovesGilbert · 08/07/2019 22:54

So Cory is an undercover police officer is he?? And why was the theatre director in the bar watching his wife crack on to Ed??

Oh god, I really wasn’t paying enough attention and missed both of those!

What’s the logic btw of shared care for the twins? If MS genuinely thinks they’re not safe in Celeste’s care why would she settle for weekends?

I do feel for her finding out her beloved deceased son was a monster. But her rape apologist bs was too much and I wonder what we’ll find out about her husband and perry as a boy/young man.

I could well do without Bonnie’s irritating mum. It’s a distraction and the pool of characters and plot lines is too big now.

I clearly can’t pay enough attention to keep track! Grin

BelfortGabbz · 08/07/2019 23:04

Was the bloke in the background in the bar the one Madeline had the affair with?

LoafofSellotape · 08/07/2019 23:10

How do we know Cory is a cop? I missed that totallyConfused

Encyclo · 08/07/2019 23:17

Could it be possible that Perry killed his brother when he was young?

I feel there’s a re-evaluation coming about that
