I was a lurker on the last thread, I didn't post much, but I loved all of your comments. So the last one was full, here's another one

OP posts:

Yes, he seems to think whispering makes him really threatening! Grin

thenightsky · 12/08/2019 15:50

I just zone out whenever Gary and his ridiculous story lines come on. I'm completely out of the loop with what his character is up.

I too had completely forgotten that David was in prison.

thenightsky · 12/08/2019 20:13

Who is this random woman offering Carla a job? Is it Nick's ex-wife?

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 12/08/2019 20:17

She’s a business woman they were going to have a contract with before the factory collapsed. I remember hating her weird accent at the time and as soon as I heard it the other night I groaned! Grin (it’s not weird because it’s scottish BTW- it’s the way she opens (or doesn’t open) her mouth when she talks)

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 12/08/2019 20:31

Now it all makes sense why Steve was speaking to Emma (who he has never spoken to before Grin) earlier. She’s his child.

EachandEveryone · 12/08/2019 21:20

I hope her dads left her a property that would be nice for her.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 12/08/2019 21:26

I hate the speed at which storylines happen now.

In 3 episodes we’ve had: Emma finds out dad has stomach ulcer, it escalates to stomach cancer, Steve talks to her for the first time ever (talk about beating us round the head with clues Hmm) she finds out he isn’t her dad, her dad dies, we find out her mum is Fiona and liz finds out she is likely to be Steve’s child. Even for Corrie the speed of this storyline is bonkers. That story could very comfortably have been spaced out over 8 weeks and still held our interest. Whereas now it’s likely to be done and dusted by Wednesday.

Iwantacampervan · 13/08/2019 08:50

It's a strange coincidence (or not) that the Emma/Fiona story happens at the same time that Fiona is in Classic Corrie (she appeared a few weeks ago).

EachandEveryone · 13/08/2019 09:51

Is she coming back into it then? At least she can act.

Honeyroar · 13/08/2019 10:29

It's been kind of nice to see Emma being something other than ditsy and show she can act.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 13/08/2019 10:43

I’d say it was entirely deliberate. They know people are loving classic Corrie and prefer the way it was. People will have sat in their living rooms, saw Fiona and said “ahh remember Fiona, I loved Fiona, they should bring her back” Corrie writers know this so are reviving old characters (Wayne, Jim) to try and win back viewers. They’ll have planned this current storyline specifically because Fiona was appearing in classic Corrie a few weeks ago.

EachandEveryone · 13/08/2019 10:45

I’m going to a Q and A with Maureen Lipman I must ask her if she thinks it’s gone down hill.

millimat · 13/08/2019 12:30

Omg what tripe!
As if Michelle would arrive back and go to work rather than take her case home!

Clawdy · 13/08/2019 14:28

Emma's acting was good - a change to see someone grieving without the usual agonised shrieking we see on Corrie. (Michelle, I'm looking at you.)

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 13/08/2019 19:41

Emma didnt have a storyline a couple weeks ago, she was just in the pub pulling pints, doing little.
It's good to see her being utilised, she's a decent character, not just a dumb ditzy pretty girl like Sawphies sister.

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 13/08/2019 21:43

I thought Emma was very convincing. Far better than the usual tripe (looking at you, Dev.)

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 14/08/2019 01:26

Didn’t Fiona have an affair with Jim and that’s why her and Steve finished, or am I misremembering? could Emma in fact be Steve’s half sister?

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 14/08/2019 05:59

Yes, I vaguely remember a drunk Jim staggering into Steve and Fiona's wedding and when he revealed their fling, the wedding was abandoned.

JemimaTab · 14/08/2019 06:59

I hope this doesn’t mean they’re bringing Jim back again - after the debacle of the “Katie” story, I’d be happy never to see him again.

I do like Emma though. She’s like an old style Corrie character to me. It’s also nice to have a sweet kind character amongst all the ghastlies.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/08/2019 18:08

Fiona had a little boy (cannot remember his name something like 'Spike' ) and she was going to marry a blond fella (I think he was Police ... the name Alan rings a bell)

Are the writers re-writing history ?

(Though my DD said this morning "Steve has 4 kids by 4 women then -
Amy/Tracey
Ollie/Leanne
Rhurhi/Michelle
now
Emma/Fiona

He's a 4x4 !

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 14/08/2019 18:16

And so much for Audrey’s promise to Emma to keep it to herself, first chance Audrey gets, she blabs to Liz!

eddiemairswife · 14/08/2019 18:24

I don't think we see enough of Liz; she brings an air of normality to the programme.

Clawdy · 14/08/2019 18:53

So if either Steve or Jim could be poor Emma's dad, what would happen if they decided to do a DNA test? Could it look as if Steve was the dad even if it was Jim, as they share genes? Or doesn't it work like that?

Clawdy · 14/08/2019 19:01

Just checked the Corrie site and it wasn't Steve who Fiona was marrying when Jim wrecked the wedding, it was someone called Alan. Alan then left her, even though later it was proved the child, Morgan, was his. She returned later and had a brief get-together with Steve, then left because he cheated on her. So it doesn't sound as if Jim is in the frame after all, I got that wrong.

Itstheprinciple · 14/08/2019 20:45

This whole Robert thing is getting more ridiculous by the day.
