DD4 has her prom this evening [sadface]

There will be a spell probably in the thick of the second half which I will miss [evensadder] as there will be some photos taken drinks swigged in the garden of one of her friends before they all swoosh off for the evening.

Will do my utmost to keep up all the same.

SneakyGremlins · 18/05/2019 18:41

Evening! Am I in the right place for tonight? Anyone remember me from last year? Smile

RedToothBrush · 18/05/2019 18:44

Are you going to start a new shiny thread for the final red? Hopefully we'll all be on one this year - iirc last year there ended up being two concurrent ones.

I wasn't intending to, for exactly this reason.

Is it too optimistic to assume that anyone wanting to join in, will understand the word 'eurovision' on its own even with the words semi final in the title?

We could start a new one and then put a few messages in big bold caps saying this one is closed.

What does everyone think?

I am looking forward to this to cheer me up ,after what is turning into a really bad afternoon.

I have been to Ikea- I am not supporting Sweden as such, but do have Daim cake. Grin

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 18/05/2019 18:57

[runs in] I'm back! That is very optimistic red Wink Grin
Totally up to you. You could start a new official one and ask MNHQ to close this one or we stay put and if people are thick then [whispers] nil points for comprehension.
So I am sulking - I went to the bookies and the German lass looked nonplussed. They only do sports betting apparently.
Do any of you know an online betting place that won't spam me to death or steal my identity? I wanted to [drum roll] put on a double bet for Australia to win and Germany to come last.
I want Italy to win but think Oz are better placed to do it.
Sports betting only [harumphs]
Hello gremlins I know you from respo but a zillion chats ago. I think I was KimmySchmidtsSmile back then but name change every six months so can't remember. How are you honey? Who are you rooting for?

SneakyGremlins · 18/05/2019 19:01

Ooooooh Rage Hiya! Good to see you! I've been looking forward to Eurovision since Christmas Grin

I haven't heard any songs yet so I'll let you know as the evening goes out Grin

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 18/05/2019 19:02

Raahh that's brave braving Ikea on a Saturday. Worth it for the Daim cake though. The swedish guy wrote ours (UK's entry) too. Think we got the worse one out the two. I like him and his backing singers though and they perform well but I'd prefer another one to win overall. Why was your afternoon bad or would you rather recover than talk about it?! Smile
I bought my eldest some spanish omelette back and the ungrateful tyke doesn't want it. Tortilla espagnol classica anyone?

SneakyGremlins · 18/05/2019 19:03

BUT I do root for Moldova every year since they should have won in 2017!

RedToothBrush · 18/05/2019 19:04

Rage, I'm going to start a new thread - minus the reminders you kindly did (bookmarking that for later), so its clear of 'spoilers' so to speak for none semi watchers.

OublietteBravo · 18/05/2019 19:05

I’m ambivalent about whether we stay on this one or move to another one. I think the UK entry is crying out to be used in a thread title (Eurovision - it’s bigger than us Wink)

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 18/05/2019 19:07

Excellent grem Non-spoilered. Virginal, even! Wink I look forward to your insights. I cannot remember what you listen to but I reckon you have treats in store with Ireland, Azerbaijan and Switzerland.
My kids have said if I sing along tonight as I have been listening to the songs already that they will ban me from the room. Do you think lip syncing counts? Grin

SneakyGremlins · 18/05/2019 19:12

I've heard wonderous things about some kind of BDSM song Grin

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 18/05/2019 19:13

That's a very good title oubliette
Okay red new thread here we come - you did fab round ups lovely, all I did was copy and paste it for you cos I was suffering from insomnia that night. Slept well last night though thankfully. Hasta la vista xx

Rhubarb01 · 18/05/2019 19:13

Evening. Will be joining in at 8pm. I was a bit underwhelmed by semi-final 2, but have heard a few played on the radio since and they do sound better than they did live - most noticeably Denmark. It's a bit of an ear worm, but I don't think it's strong enough against some of the others. I reckon Azerbaijan will do quite well. I haven't really heard any of the big 5 songs apart from our own. Bless him, but I'm nervous for his big key change/solo bit near the end. Not that it would make any difference to the overall result, but it would be good to have the satisfaction of at least performing it well.

Raahh · 18/05/2019 19:13

Rage long, long story, involving my son. It's all a bit tough. But we will survive!

But I am determined to enjoy tonight. And pace myself Grin

I preferred Sweden's sparkly backing singers to the main singer, I must admit (though he was easy on the eye) the song was a ok.

I have to agree about the title oubliette - my first thought when the UK entry got chosen was "Yes, Europe is definitely bigger than us!"
