She said she does. But maybe she was lying to get him to sign the papers.

storminabuttercup · 02/05/2019 08:06

So I’ve been pondering a bit more. I don’t think the person in charge is H at all, I think Dot thought it was Hilton but we’ve seen its not?
I’m rewatching and on S2.
I have another theory that tommy hunter isn’t dead. There was that whole thing in series 1 where gates told hunter to let Ryan loose as he was young etc. I think Ryan’s been protected all this time by someone in the force otherwise he’d be locked up.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/05/2019 08:28

Probably the officer who took the time to try to help him rather than condemn him to life's scrap heap.

It would be interesting to learn more about Ryan and how he's ended up where he is. If he hadn't been slitting throats, I might have thought he felt trapped in the OCG and didn't know how to escape. Maybe that's still true. 🤷‍♀️

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 02/05/2019 09:24

Probably the officer who took the time to try to help him rather than condemn him to life's scrap heap. The actor who played the kindly police officer in series 1 is the one who plays Gem's boyfriend in Casualty.

MsLumley · 02/05/2019 15:41

I love LoD and have been watching it since the beginning but quite frankly I don't think I can cope with 6 weeks of constant brainache every series while I try to figure out what the fuck's going on. I can handle one more series I think but not two. I'd prefer to have the whole H thing wrapped up this series and life can go back to normal worry levels again 😁. Feels a bit like they're dragging it out too far now.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/05/2019 16:16

That's where Lost went wrong. The studio insisted on 6 series when it was planned as 3. And then one series was scuppered by the writers' strike and was awful!

I'm still happy with LoD though. I love the brain ache!

Alwaysgrey · 02/05/2019 17:51

I keep reading into things maybe a little too much and looking for hidden meanings.

Jux · 02/05/2019 18:37

Lots of overthinking going on, but I enjoy that when I know it's all fiction and doesn't matter one way or the other. Good distraction....

storminabuttercup · 02/05/2019 19:25

I’ve just got to the bit where Denton is in prison, horrid!

jamiecooks · 02/05/2019 20:39

Series 3, Bungalow says to Ted “we’re hsving a drink and the sky’s not falling in”, then Corbetts wife with reference to chicken licken? - was Corbett trying to bring down Ted in conjunction with Bungalow? Or am I driving self and everyone else mad seeing connections when there aren’t any?!

RhubarbIsEvil · 03/05/2019 06:27

Maybe Jed likes the chicken licken book?

jamiecooks · 03/05/2019 06:58

Was Bungalow involved with the Sands kids home? Gah, I just want to know!!!

Northumberlandlass · 03/05/2019 07:47

Not sure if this has been linked somewhere

Guardian LoD

Taswama · 03/05/2019 07:54

I thought she was reading the chicken licken book as her world was about to fall in. When they revealed the body was Jackie Laverty’s I thought ‘oh no, his wife will never know if he’s dead or not’.

NowWeAreSuckingDiesel · 03/05/2019 07:56

I can just feel this series is going to be an annoying fucking cliff hanger. Jed seems to have followed a more Bodyguard style of series this time and I miss the investigations work, cat and mouse chases between AC12 and the "bad guys" which are usually complex characters who aren't just evil gang members but coppers with flawed traits but circumstances that you feel empathy for. The fact that no one in the show knows what's going on and no one watching knows what's going on is not making for enjoyable viewing. I just bloody want to know what the hell is going on!

jessicawessica · 03/05/2019 09:16

On GMB this morning....one theory is that it's a place. The house where the sex trafficked girls were being held, from an ariel view, spells out 2 H's.
But that could just be part of JM's evil plot to send all of us batty.
Another view was also the it was Kate. She is H and is framing Ted.
But why?

NotMyPuppy · 03/05/2019 09:41

Why would Kate have so doggedly pursued Dot then if they were on the same side - he had become a liability and she wanted him dead in case he talked? Why then did she try to film the confession? I’m not convinced it would make sense for it to be Kate...

DarlingNikita · 03/05/2019 09:45

When they revealed the body was Jackie Laverty’s I thought ‘oh no, his wife will never know if he’s dead or not’.
The bag contained Corbett as well as bits of Jackie Laverty.

MrsChollySawcutt · 03/05/2019 10:09

'H' cannot be a place - what would be point of that?!? If on Sunday it is revealed that 'H' is a building how will that solve any of the intrigue currently going on? It won't.

'H' is the top man/woman inside the police force working in cahoots with the OGC. Dot as 'the Caddy', Cafferty, Akers, Bain's, Praia's and others (armed police that helped Dot escape AC12) have all been working for 'H' in a network of corrupt officers. Unless 'H' is unmasked the corruption cannot be rooted out.

(Slightly overinvested in AC12 and Ted's innocence)...

GeorgeTheBleeder · 03/05/2019 10:27

I’m perfectly confident that Ted is not corrupt and that none of the core three characters is H.

If they were, there would be no point in making TV drama - or, indeed, any drama. Just no point at all.

MrsChollySawcutt · 03/05/2019 10:43

Sorry auto correct fail - should be Bains and Prasad...

OneofPansPeople · 03/05/2019 10:54

2 more sleeps Grin

thecatsthecats · 03/05/2019 11:40

Just finished rewatching Series 3 and it's such a goldmine of clues for this one!

Gill Bigelow hand in hand with Cottan at every step - the dodgy report, the golf tee in the envelope.
Patrick Fairbank - serving a prison sentence in HMP Blackthorn, where the leak came from!
Gill trying to insinuate her way in with Ted.
Ted's line to Gill - "There is a line between right and wrong, and I know on which side my duty falls." (THE line of the whole show)
Kate gaining prowess as a both a calculated investigator, principled, rule following etc.

My theory:

Kate is effectively 'undercover' as the DI, arranged by Ted. She has to maintain her principles and his cover by reporting what he's doing. It's part of the plan. Gill Bigelow tried to convert Ted, but when he delivered that line in S3, she knew it was impossible - it's only since then that any suspicion has been directed at Ted.

Steve may or may not be in the dark. He is loyal, but doesn't have either the emotional control or undercover experience of Kate. They can trust him to be law abiding enough as a whistleblower to go along with what they've planned though.

Ted may or may not end up behind bars at the end of this series. S6 would exonerate him though (alive or dead).

MrsChollySawcutt · 03/05/2019 11:53

I am mentally preparing for Ted to be charged at the end of this series and sent to HMP Blackthorn on remand.

Series 6 will be Ted undercover in HMP Blackthorn getting inside info from Fairbanks and the others leading to his exoneration.

Acis · 03/05/2019 12:57

Does anyone else think of "Carousel" every time they hear about Jill Bigelow?
