Anyone watch?
Such an affecting programme
I felt so bad for the old woman when she was scared
But couldn't understand why she didn't go get hearing aids it would have improved her quality of life so much

@Sforsh49 thanks for the Ambulance Australia tip!

Toddlerteaplease · 28/04/2019 15:09

I had the same thought about the hotel staff. They had no need to be there.

Toddlerteaplease · 28/04/2019 15:10

I think the previous episodes of this series were shown a few months ago and it was put on hold. The TV listings said it was episode 5/8

Thesearmsofmine · 28/04/2019 15:15

I love this programme.

That poor girl giving birth, she must have been terrified, I didn’t like the staff hanging around either. The room needed cleaning afterwards of course but they could have let her be taken to hospital first and waited outside the room while she was being examined.

Hepzibar · 02/05/2019 21:18

Will never moan about stress at work again! I am in total awe of all the staff involved. How stressful must it be taking the call and trying to get a free ambulance to attend, whilst having a frantic caller on the phone.

endofthelinefinally · 02/05/2019 21:20

Has there only been a couple of episodes so far? I have been watching on catch up and couldn't find any before last week.

endofthelinefinally · 02/05/2019 21:21

Oops. Just seen a previous post.

Polkadotdelight · 02/05/2019 21:22

I feel so shallow now, I have serious hair envy for that paramedic!

YesQueen · 02/05/2019 21:24

@covetingthepreciousthings Jon Wink and yes he's really lovely

Ginfizplease · 02/05/2019 21:59

OMG
"I killed my wife. She's dead".

Clawdy · 02/05/2019 22:59

I had to miss the end, what happened to the lovely elderly man with the burst stoma?

purpleme12 · 02/05/2019 23:21

I think he was the one who died

CoolCarrie · 02/05/2019 23:26

No, it was the man who had the fainting fit and was given oxygen in the ambulance who died.

Coatandhat · 02/05/2019 23:26

Clawdy - I don't think they said anything about him. The poor man who died (Leonard) had a heart attack.

purpleme12 · 02/05/2019 23:29

Oh whoops

Wasn't that liverpudlian paramedic just a lovely girl. They are all amazing and do an incredible job along with the call operators.
But she just oozed love and compassion and was so able to put people at ease. Thank goodness she didn't give up when she had PTSD

I felt a little bit uncomfortable see in the poor gentleman who eventually died that day (Leonard)he essentially arrested in the ambulance and was revived but died later as was obviously in a very bad way. I'm not sure him arresting in the ambulance and being rescusitated should have been shown. Genuinly not sure - I imagine his family have given permission for it to be shown, but it was almost watching someone die which IMO is too private for public viewing.

On the other hand seeing how the ambulance crew dealt so calmly and efficiently with the arrest was humbling - they are amazing people, so caring and compassionate.
I hope the lovely gentleman with the stoma was OK, and that the chap with terminal cancer got his Christmas abroad.

forevercurious · 04/05/2019 08:01

Another moving episode. I have the greatest respect for the work carried out by everyone involved - they are simply amazing people.

Would have liked to have seen an update on all of the patients though!

Glad I have found this thread. It's my favourite program. I haven't spoken to anyone IRL who watches it. I kept trying to express my outrage about the young girl in the Hotel room to friends and they just gave me a look. So hear goes.... Why oh why oh why was the 'Complete Tool' in the background holding the door open and why was he even in the room. I kept shouting at the TV go away. I desperately wanted the ambulance staff to give him a mouthful. And when he called housekeeping about the mess when the poor girl was bleeding and bleeding he just had no respect for the situation. He has obviously never ever been near anyone whose given birth. Nor did he show her any respect for privacy. I really hope he was either disciplined for his behaviour or at least given training about how to behave next time.

On a happier note....what a massive transformation of the alcoholic at the end of this weeks program. It was so nice to see. I hope he stays that way.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/05/2019 17:25

The alcoholic mans daughter looked so sad an exhausted by him. Lovely to see that he's been sober for a while.

Clawdy · 04/05/2019 17:32

Yes, that look of weary love on her face, and she was so young to have to cope with it.

FellaGoneRogue · 04/05/2019 17:40

I love this programme. The only thing that irks me slightly is the chap at the beginning that's says something like 'you'll love this one Barbara, we've got a man bleeding from his penis haha'

Poor chap with the bleeding penis!

Sonicknuckles · 04/05/2019 21:01

Some people from the older generation don't get visitors more than once a month (if they're lucky!) including their own family/offspring, so I think the daughter and grandaughter are probably doing their best tbh
Thanks for this. I've been in this situation and you do the best you can in very difficult and stressful circumstances. Families need support with things like this. It said in the end she went to a care home which at 94 and pretty much blind and deaf was probably the best thing for her.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/05/2019 13:35

Couldn't see why the bloke with neutopeanic sepsis couldn't have been driven to hospital. Although he needed urgent treatment. It didn't really warrant an ambulance.
