Here is a new thread for when the old one is full.

I am not feeling this series as much as previous ones. There was always some ambiguity with previous suspect officers like Gates and Denton even Huntley. Were they really bent or victims of blackmail? Or both. But I cared about them as acting was brilliant and storylines were excellent.

This series just seems to be trying too hard and agree with all above that Ted is behaving completely off the wall.

Maybe he is trying to save the day in last ditch effort to prove to his ex wife that he is a good'un. But also agree he was too familiar with Lisa and Miroslav.

Urghhh I just don't know, but don't think anything will be wrapped up this series. Unfortunetaly....

JamesBoredom · 29/04/2019 00:15

Corbett’s mum is key I reckon.

Ted was protecting her as she was his informant. He put her in a vulnerable position. Corbett’s understanding of that is that she was killed as a result (consequently he seeks to set up Ted.) But, I don’t think she actually died - I think Ted forged the paperwork to reflect as much so she could be free to have a new identity. Presumably then she’d want to (incognito) be in her son’s life and followed him when he left Ireland.

LindsayDentonsCat · 29/04/2019 00:35

I actually cried! I can't take Ted locked up. It's the same feeling as all those times that I thought Saul was about to be killed in Homeland.
I don't think we'll see him vindicated this series either. Although I hold out hope that Roisin holds the key which will prove his innocence somehow.

Hmm ... Grin

Undercover-ness. Hmm ...

Ted is a highly clever and competent policeman. The litany of misdemeanours plied up in his file seems a bit more than unfortunate.

The unwise investment that led to his marriage breakdown. The increasing debt and selling of assets until there’s nothing left to sell. The divorce and the no fixed abode. All things that make him look shifty and desperate. Cumulatively they put him well on the back foot. So that, just like Maneet and the bent coppers, the bad guys swarm towards him thinking he can be used. Corbett tried to bring down corruption by joining the criminals. Hastings just has to look bad at his job. I’m wondering if he hasn’t been undercover in plain sight for years.

Rumbletum2 · 29/04/2019 00:47

I refuse to believe Ted is corrupt.

CorrupTed.

No.

Cockadoodledooo · 29/04/2019 01:00

If as a PP suggested Ted is Corbett's father, would it be too far fetched for Mrs H to be his only dead on paper Mum?

JamesBoredom · 29/04/2019 01:23

Not beyond the realm of possibility... in which case, Corbett beat up his own mum as part of a plan to frame his own dad, all, presumably without knowing?

Line of Duty definately part 3.
Line of Duty definately part 3.
JamesBoredom · 29/04/2019 01:26

Although Ted and Roisin supposedly married when they were 18, so more likely Corbett’s mum was an affair if Ted is the father. And that leaves the question of who mum is wide open.

BitOfFun · 29/04/2019 01:49

Regarding the envelope with Moffat's fingerprints on but clean cash inside...could Bill Gigolo have put the £50K in there while she was in Ted's hotel room?

Nanamilly · 29/04/2019 03:33

I’m glad others are thinking the Teds could be related to Corbett. I suggested it on the previous thread.

Piggywaspushed · 29/04/2019 06:02

Another sleepless might after LoD! Thank goodness next Monday is a Bank Holiday!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 29/04/2019 06:22

I defo think Ryan is going into the police. He is the next Dot. I was thinking that too.

Ted isn't bent - think he acted very rashly yesterday but he was on a mission to solve the case there and then but it spectacularly backfired.

There doesn't look like any quick way out for him at the moment - are there any leads that could send Kate and Steve after the truth (whatever that may be)?

Also, why choose then to take Jackie's body out of the freezer - presumably that was some type of message too?

RedForShort · 29/04/2019 06:24

Another import thing I need clearing up: why is the beep so long!!?

UCOinanOCG · 29/04/2019 06:24

After a restless night I have thought more about Ryan. Firstly he doesn't necessarily have a police record. He may have managed to keep out of trouble with the help of social work etc. Which brings me to my second thought. His social worker in season 1. Wasn't she called Jane Hargreaves. Is she related to the police Hargreaves who died and could she be H? Bit of a stretch but she could have groomed Ryan to be her inside lad in the police?

Even if Ted is found innocent, he will hve to be disciplined as he went completely AWOL. He had better have a good reason.

Charley50 · 29/04/2019 06:59

watched off

GrinGrinGrinoh I forgot laughing emojis

Pomegranatepompom · 29/04/2019 07:05

I’m starting to struggle with all the corruption- it fells like the majority are. I can’t suspend my hope for humanity, if that shit Ryan somehow manages to get into the police ( they really need to improve their vetting Shock

poundoflard · 29/04/2019 07:06

well I have to say this series isnt as good as the others, IMO

I feel it is more like the Bodyguard rather than the previous series, as in its trying to be a bit too clever confusing with too many twists and turns.

And I think they will rush to tie up all the loose ends and next week will be a bit meh

longwayoff · 29/04/2019 07:18

I hope you're wrong poundoflard but share your feelings, we're asking a lot of Jed, don't let us down JM.

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 29/04/2019 07:29

I was thinking last night I wonder if Steve’s performance issues were a cover because he’s undercover investigating the ex and didn’t want a repeat of the Lindsay Denton carry on

storminabuttercup · 29/04/2019 07:31

I still think that Lisa is undercover, she surrendered very quickly, she’s waiting for orders before she says anything I think.
Ted is either deep undercover or running his own investigation and he’s not sure who he can trust.
H is a Jed herring, the OCG seem to think it was Hastings there’s no reason to think dot didn’t believe that too.
I think Hastings will end up locked up until next season until Steve and Kate prove it’s not him. Which pains me and I hope I’m wrong

tinstar · 29/04/2019 07:31

Totally agree Poundalot. Apart from shocking executions there have been no wow moments in this series. No clever twists or surprises - so far.

I find Ted quite ridiculous to be honest. He behaves likes a confused old dinosaur. I love Lisa's inscrutable expressions so you don't really know what she's thinking. Ted's face is all shifty looks - quite comedic really. Someone ought to point tAdrian Dunbar towards the 'less is more' school of acting.

AngelinaNeurosurgeon · 29/04/2019 07:31

Ted was born in 1963, I think I saw that on a form at his interview yesterday.
My theory - Corbett's parents were murdered by the RUC. They covered it up to look like paramilitaries. Hastings was caught up in this but was not responsible. His attempts to tell the truth about this (echoing Arnott's experience in S1 E1) led to him being "eased" out, hence the sick leave and transfer to England. His move to AC later on was motivated by his experience of bent coppers in NI.
Someone, the real H, is setting up Hastings via Midday. Hastings is definately (sic) not H.
Corbett joined the police with a mission to drive out bent coppers like the ones who killed his parents. He believed Hastings was one of them.

AngelinaNeurosurgeon · 29/04/2019 07:33

Arnott had ED last night.
