TBF I'm not sure how much comedy/humour there was to be found in his character and situation.

Rollergirl11 · 26/04/2019 13:29

He managed it with Compo in This is England. That was hardly light entertainment either.

DarlingNikita · 26/04/2019 13:29

I haven't seen that so I can't comment.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 26/04/2019 13:37

Going back to the Annemarie/Our Marie.
When I watched it the first time it was 'Annemarie'. But when I rewatched (whilst ironing) with DH (who watched it for the first time) it sounded more like 'Our Marie'.
Somebody needs to ask Jed on Twitter Grin

CletusVanDamme · 26/04/2019 13:41

He'll yeah! @bibity

CletusVanDamme · 26/04/2019 13:47

Also haven't seen This is England, but like @DarlingNikita I'd be struggling to recall any moments where comedy would have worked in the Corbett role.
I won't have a bad word said about Stephen Grahams' performance, anyone who disagrees can meet me outside Grin

Piggywaspushed · 26/04/2019 15:17

To go back a page... if you watch LoD back on iPlayer, it is really clear that she says Anne Marie. No idea why it was less clear on telly.

Piggywaspushed · 26/04/2019 15:19

The defenestration of Georgia in LoD is deliberate homage to House of Cards, apparently.

StoorieHoose · 26/04/2019 16:19

Cletus you NEED to watch This Is England. The film and the TV series are wonderful - harrowing but wonderful. You will love Stephen Graham in it (and his missus irl is fab in it too)

(Love your username - Walton Goggins character's name isn't it?)

NoWordForFluffy · 26/04/2019 16:45

I heard 'our Marie' via iPlayer on a smart TV!

Piggywaspushed · 26/04/2019 16:52

Hmmmm. through my laptop speakers it's definately definately Anne Marie. Not one iota of doubt.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 26/04/2019 16:55

I can imagine that in a Scouse accent Anne could sound like 'our'

NoWordForFluffy · 26/04/2019 17:12

I'll go round all the Scousers at work and get them to say both to me! Grin

beanaseireann · 26/04/2019 17:28

Corvettes wife in the series isn't Liverpudlian, she's Irish. Amy de Bhrún.
She has just written and is starrng in a two hander on the life of Lady Mary Heath- an amazing little known about Irish woman. The first female commercial pilot in the world.

BitOfFun · 26/04/2019 18:00

How far through the episode is the Anne/our Marie bit? I'll try to apply my Scouse ear...

NoWordForFluffy · 26/04/2019 18:02

About 3/4 through when she's on the phone to John, BoF.

Forthepurposesofthetape · 26/04/2019 18:12

Looking forward to Anna Maxwell Martin coming in next episode, she's one of my faves!

AtiaoftheJulii · 26/04/2019 18:42

Fantasy AC-12 mug challenge:

What quote from the show would you choose for the rear of your mug? Also what rank would you be?

I was reading this thread last night and thinking to myself that I would have to have "I'm interested in one thing and one thing only, and that's catching bent coppers".

Got home from work today, and my daughter (fellow obsessive fan) had got me a present. AC-12 mug with that quote on!

And I guess I'd have to be the Senior Legal Counsel Grin

CraicMammy · 26/04/2019 18:43

If anyone is keeping count, I heard it as Our Marie too

bibbitybobbityyhat · 26/04/2019 19:28

Can someone please help me out here?

In a previous series, Kate went on her own to a senior PO in another division (another AC division??) to ask for permission to do something.

Who did she go and see? What was it about? Why did she have to go on her own? (without Arnott or Hastings).

Sorry my memory is so crap - but I feel it's significant somehow.

pineapplebryanbrown · 26/04/2019 19:33

bib in series 3 she went to another female high up who couldn't be a mason. Are you thinking of that?

pineapplebryanbrown · 26/04/2019 19:35

Ok in series 2 there's a Yorkshire bloke who is Jolly Rogerson's boss, his name is Les. He seems to know a lot and Ted seems a bit scared of him. Jolly was a DC Wee Gobshite was shagging a bit.

LutherRalph1 · 26/04/2019 19:51

@thighofrelief101 that's Hargreaves is it not? Who was killed last week?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 26/04/2019 20:05

Yes that's Les Hargreaves also was Archie in Emmerdale many moons ago.
I must say Ted seems really shocked in S2 Ep4 that DCC Dryden was having an affair. Ted called him an adulterer when talking to Steve & Kate.

TedsFederationRep · 26/04/2019 20:22

It was Superintendent Summers of AC3, Bibbity, and it was so Kate could get authorisation to investigate Dot Cottan.

I'm quite envious about Atias's mug. I'd settle for Detective Constable (less dangerous!) and "Sit down, fella, or I'll handcuff you to that desk!"
