Here is a new thread for when the old one is full.

The problem with Arnott assuming Hastings was responsible for the shopping mall meeting being leaked is that there were so many AFOs involved, the entire situation amounted to a colander.

CoolCarrie · 25/04/2019 15:29

Huntley wasn’t bent, so I really can’t see her as H. . She was a throughly. nasty piece of work in fitting up her husband and Hanna, she was used to set up Michael Farmer, for those murders of the young women which we still don’t know the motive , but she díd kill Tim in self defence which was justified and her rank wasn’t high enough to pull any strings, she worked on her own with Jodie as her insider.

TedsFederationRep · 25/04/2019 15:38

I think there's definitely some link between John Corbett's father and Ted's RUC service. I seem to remember that Ted and another Catholic officer trained together and on one of their first jobs, they were blown up by a pipe bomb - Ted surviving but his colleague not. The dates would fit - Ted joined the RUC in 1983 and Corbett's father died in 1984. The only thing that niggles at me though is that surely Ted would have the name of his colleague - Anthony McGillis - practically engraved on his memory? Learning that Corbett's birth name was John McGillis would surely have been a red flag to him?

ElenadeClermont · 25/04/2019 15:53

Hastings was not told about Corbett's past. Kate specifically asked that only Arnott and she should be told about it.

I did not think Corbett's father was the policeman. The punishment felt more like McGillis snr died as a result of a punishment beating. Also how did the mother die?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 25/04/2019 16:23

I don't get the feeling that Corbett's Dad was a policeman but rather a paramilitary type. Clearly the former's animosity to the latter is driven by some misdemeanour in Hastings' past (maybe he and his RUC mate were involved in a cover-up at some point).

bibbitybobbityyhat · 25/04/2019 16:23

Yes, both of Corbetts parents died when he was very young. And he asked that question about his mum in the phone call to his wife.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/04/2019 16:23

Just watching series 2. It seems so out of Kate's character to have an affair, especially with her old friend's husband. Maybe that's the point not everyone is what they seem?
Like Tommy Hunter in Witness Protection.
My mouth was frozen open when DC Georgia was thrown out of the window!

CoolCarrie · 25/04/2019 18:34

That scene with Georgia was so unexpected, and shocking, but also a classic, same as the scene in 4 with Tim and Roz.

NotMyPuppy · 25/04/2019 18:35

Thank you sinkgirl!

traceybeaker Georgia being thrown out of the window is the most harrowing part of Line of Duty in my opinion, that scene has always stayed with me

RozHuntleysStump · 25/04/2019 18:44

Georgia out the window is up there with that head in the fryer thing in Spooks.

storminabuttercup · 25/04/2019 19:21

Didn’t Jacqui Laverty die being hit over the head?

storminabuttercup · 25/04/2019 19:22

No I’m thinking of another series, woman bribing copper, his wife was Hayley off corra

LutherRalph1 · 25/04/2019 19:23

I think she had her throat cut

LutherRalph1 · 25/04/2019 19:24

I think Hayley Cropper was in Happy Valley?

MrsChollySawcutt · 25/04/2019 19:25

Nope, she had her throat slit by the balaclava men that broke into her house. They bashed Tony Gates on the head so he was unconscious whilst they murdered her, when he woke she was gone but there was a huge bloodstain on the cream rug.

Northumberlandlass · 25/04/2019 21:40

Watching Series 3 again with DP. Jill Bigelow (sp?) is DEFINATELY 😬 dodgy!!!
And Kate has just gone to East Mids for permission for undercover.....
Is it all linked?!

Northumberlandlass · 25/04/2019 22:22

I’ve just finished rewatching end of Ep 5 of Series 3! I’d forgotten loads & also how much I LOVED this series.....

CraicMammy · 25/04/2019 23:20

I want to talk about Ryan. I’m suspicious about how he always gets to stay with the car. It can’t be cos he’s too young to deal with the ‘business’ because he’s clearly handy with a flick knife.

What if John, Miroslav and Lisa were a diversion at the Pallisades, and H actually met with Ryan? Maybe H confirmed to Ryan that John was a UCO.

What do you think?

BTW I’d love to know what Ryan is studying at Uni, I’m thinking computer science and he’s been hacking the AC12 mainframe all this time.

BitOfFun · 25/04/2019 23:53

I like your thinking, Craic Grin

pineapplebryanbrown · 26/04/2019 07:19

Just rewatched series 1. Excellent that they brought Ryan and he Terry character back. Nige and Dot are such excellent characters.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/04/2019 07:28

I think it's interesting that Ryan is at uni. Clearly he must've knuckled down a bit to get there, so many he did form some kind of relationship with that police officer who was concerned about him.

What's also interesting is that in 7 years he's progressed from being shit at using a bolt cropper to really quite skilled at slitting throats. I'd be very interested to know what he's been up to in the intervening years.

We re-watched episode 4 last night. Corbett's wife says 'our Marie', not Anne Marie. The fingerprints of John accessed the birth certificate which was also stored in the database, I think. I didn't pause it to study the BC though. DH might have assumed I'd gone mad! 😂 (Though he's very interested in our theories on here!)

NoWordForFluffy · 26/04/2019 07:29

Oh, and Ted is shifty as hell if you concentrate on him. Mary, mother of god, fella, what have you got yourself into?!

NoWordForFluffy · 26/04/2019 07:30

Here's more about John: lineofduty.fandom.com/wiki/John_Corbett

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 26/04/2019 07:34

Holy macaroni @craicmammy

That’s a legit and very possible line of thinking.

Am watching S1 and just finished Ep 4 and it’s weird to see him as a wee shite shouting “pig” in Tony Gates’ face

SinkGirl · 26/04/2019 07:52

The subtitles definitely said Ann-Marie, not our Marie. Whether the subtitles are right or not, who knows. ANOTHER CONSPIRACY?! ;)

Georgia being thrown out of the window is the most harrowing part of Line of Duty in my opinion, that scene has always stayed with me

Have you seen House of Cards? There’s a scene in that that’s the only thing that has shocked me more - oh, and several scenes in The Shield. I shan’t spoil :D
