Here is a new thread for when the old one is full.

So either Ted was in the NI paramilitary and killed Corbett’s mother and / or father.

Ted was RUC so I suspect Corbett's parents were paramilitary- they both died young - and Corbett is looking for personal revenge against Hastings.

TedsFederationRep · 23/04/2019 20:29

It was his dying confession why would he be pissing around with cryptic stuff like capital letter names?

Dot had been shot and couldn't speak, although he tried. Kate resorted to going through the alphabet, telling him to blink when she said the correct letter. He blinked at H. She asked him again if he meant H (I'm relying on memory here, by the way) and he blinked again to indicate yes. That's all she got from him. I think if Dot had been able to stay conscious longer, she would have gone through the vowels next to try and get the next letter.

X-post with TinStar and Mrs Cholly!

Tinkoschminko · 23/04/2019 20:31

Ah yes of course Ted - totally ignore that! I need to rewatch.

CraicMammy · 23/04/2019 20:32

Anna Maxwell Martin is from AC3 - where Kate went to get the authorisation to investigate fellow AC12 officers in series 3. This is going to be JUICY!

Line of Duty definately part 3.
DeadBod · 23/04/2019 20:33

I've been lurking on these thread but came out of hiding just to say, @Girlinajumpsuit, that's a great theory.

TedsFederationRep · 23/04/2019 20:37

Ted was RUC

And not just RUC, but Ted was Catholic and in the RUC. That's a double whammy. He would have been regarded with suspicion by both the community and his police colleagues. I wondered if he became a mason (despite the express prohibition by the Catholic Church) thinking it might provide some form of protective colouring.

Isn't Anna Maxwell Martin playing a Detective Chief Superintendent?

That's one rank higher than Ted. Uh oh. Shock

Alwaysgrey · 23/04/2019 20:38

I’m re-watching. Currently watching series 1 ep 1. Ted and Steve look so young! Hoping I’ll pick up on a bit more as I’m relying on being totally spoon fed.

UCOinanOCG · 23/04/2019 20:38

The whole H thing must come late on as I am rewatching with DH and am on episode 2 of season 4 and H hasn't been mentioned at all. But Dot died last series and still no H. I have watched it all before but I am still confused!

MrsChollySawcutt · 23/04/2019 20:47

The video footage of Dot's dying declaration isn't shown until late in S4.

UCOinanOCG · 23/04/2019 20:53

That makes sense. I began to think I had missed it.

MrsChollySawcutt · 23/04/2019 20:56

I've been rewatching s4 so saw it yesterday - think it's in ep5 or 6.

StoorieHoose · 23/04/2019 21:02

Do you not see Dot and Kate doing the dying declaration at the end of episode 6 of series 3? I'm sure you do

UCOinanOCG · 23/04/2019 21:04

You see Kate recording the dying declaration in series 3 but you don't hear what is being said.

OP posts:
StoorieHoose · 23/04/2019 21:07

I could have sworn you do hear what she is saying. Oh well an excuse to rewatch :)

NoWordForFluffy · 23/04/2019 21:16

I thought you heard it too. I need to watch them all again...see you next week folks! 😂

SinkGirl · 23/04/2019 21:16

You see her starting to get the dying declaration at the end of S3 but you don’t see any more than that.

It’s mentioned multiple times in S4, Hilton asks to see it, Ted says no... then Hilton gets Maneet to steal it (using Jamie’s log in) and she takes him a copy. The first (and I think only?) time we see the video is when Hilton shows it to Hastings and then starts accusing Hastings of being H.

(If it seems like I have some form of super memory, I definitely do not - I currently have pneumonia and I’m really unwell and obsessing about / rewatching old LoD is keeping my brain working!)

SinkGirl · 23/04/2019 21:18

Haleton does look too young in that photo to have been an abuser so I was also thinking it’s a Sr / Jr situation - unless it’s an old photo for some reason?

It cannot be a coincidence though - none of the surnames on the list or the Board of H are common surnames, they are either there for a good reason, or just to wind us up (it may well be the latter but it’s definitely got my brain working!)

SinkGirl · 23/04/2019 21:24

Ooh, also that image of the list I posted earlier is when Danny is putting it in the envelope. When Denton finds it online, you don’t see the whole list properly as far as I remember (only watched it today so I’m pretty sure) - I found this image online and I’m pretty sure that’s all they showed.

Interestingly all three of the names that seem relevant aren’t visible.

I’ll have to go back and look at the scene to see whether the whole list was actually visible in Danny’s photo - if not, that would be why Ted, kate and steve are unaware.

Line of Duty definately part 3.
Rollergirl11 · 23/04/2019 21:34

Some of us have discussed the 2 names that appear on both lists and what it might mean on previous threads before Season 5 started. I thought that Paul Haleton would be introduced in this series but hasn’t so assumed that Jed wasn’t pursuing that story arc.

Paul Haleton does look similar age to both Danny Waldron and Dot so could be a link. Thing is that we don’t know exactly what the names on Danny’s list comprise of. Are they all names pertaining to the paedophile ring at the children’s home or is there wider significance? Tommy Hunter is also on that list so does that mean he was specifically involved in the child sex abuse? We don’t know if Danny wrote the list himself or if he made the guy that he killed (is it Linus Murphy?) write the names down.

I am quite disappointed that this hasn’t been explored this series but have a feeling it won’t be now.

SinkGirl · 23/04/2019 21:40

I’m clearly late in noticing it! It is annoying that they haven’t pursued it further yet, but we know there’s at least one season left and possibly two.

Just looked at the scene with Denton - the whole list is in the photo she sends, but the close up doesn’t show the names at the bottom. So AC-12 had the info, but the writers may have thought viewers wouldn’t spot it. Perhaps if it was being discussed online after the last season then they decided not to pursue it?

SinkGirl · 23/04/2019 21:42

I think Danny wrote the list because both Ronan and Linus Murphy are on it, crossed out - Ronan was already dead and buried by the time he tortured Linus, so I don’t think Linus would have included him on the list maybe?

Rollergirl11 · 23/04/2019 21:51

Yes you’re probably right that Danny wrote it. But did he already know all the names or did he torture Linus to divulge some of them? There are spots of blood on the list that would suggest that he had the paper there at the time he was doing it? I don’t know if there is any significance in this or not.

Leedsbean · 23/04/2019 22:11

My theory is that Hastings doesn't trust anyone to not leak any inside info so has planted Lisa into the OCG. The laptop making him look suspicious is because he was indeed watching the conversations after Lisa managed to give him access so that he was fully aware of what is being said by "H" in these conversations. Hastings has got rid of his laptop to protect him and Lisa.

Did anyone else notice that Corbett fired his gun just prior to dying. Would this be so that he can leave evidence for the police?

SinkGirl · 23/04/2019 22:13

I’ve always assumed that he had the list and some of the names already, and then tortured Linus for more... but that’s probably not accurate now I think harder about it.

He did tell Linus that he didn’t know who the abusers were until he saw Ronan Murphy’s photo in the briefing room. I suspect he may have been able to find out who Fairbanks and Roach were via the same newspaper articles as AC-12 found.

I don’t know why but I feel like the list is really important to it all, but I just feel like it is. Certainly Dot was very desperate for it not to be found - if the name of his boss (or bosses) aren’t on there, why care? Hunter is already dead (allegedly). Dot was also very concerned about concealing the fact that there were links between Ronan Murphy and Tommy Hunter, so there has to be more to that list surely.

Agh, I don’t know. They could all be Jed herrings. I am just hoping this doesn’t end up like Lost, I will be so annoyed!
