I am happy to be corrected on this but I think no-one has called it completely accurately with a prediction on the outcome - and certainly not the way in which the ends would be achieved.

I think the really predictable thing that we (and the Godmother) were all half-expecting was some kind of huge, chaotic scene, comparable to FB smashing the glasses of champagne at the sexhibition in S1E6. Instead, everything was resolved fairly quietly. Even Martin's big monologue was contained (and I honestly wondered if he might flip out and hurt someone). Instead, making Fleabag the one to deliver her father to the altar and therefore the one who rescues the wedding showed us how far she has come, and that she really will be OK.

ThanksItHasPockets · 08/04/2019 11:00

Sorry - I meant called it on the non-spoiler thread.

MargotLovedTom1 · 08/04/2019 11:02

Thank you connieston. I think I need to increase the brightness on my tablet!

maeb · 08/04/2019 11:08

Martin's little speech was amazing. He's such an arsehole but his pain was so raw - so well acted and written.

Evil Step Mother's assorted identity guests (does anyone know what the deaf guy said?) had me laugh-cringing (craghing? Langing? Linging?) so much.

Do you think FB realised HP was choosing God during his 'Love is Awful' talk?

Why couldn't he be with her? Sad

Does anyone have a spare counselling session voucher going spare?

maeb · 08/04/2019 11:16

I did enjoy the fact that ESM asked FB if she had 'a show planned' and told her 'no more miscarriages' only for Claire to cause a scene..and FB remained quiet!

PettyLaBelle · 08/04/2019 11:16

Oh god 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

RosaWaiting · 08/04/2019 11:20

wonderful

loved it. Bit sad that Clare actually got on her knees instead of just saying "I'm leaving you" but then I have a passionate hatred for Martin.

Excellent speech.

love the attic bit - he literally can't because his foot is stuck! Grin

RosaWaiting · 08/04/2019 11:21

oh the bus stop writing - was it the same? I think someone said on Twitter last week that it translates as "hope"?

Coxie2006 · 08/04/2019 11:26

Just perfect, when she turns & waves at the end 😭

StellaRockafella · 08/04/2019 11:32

Gosh. That was a mistake to watch at work, I'm now crying over my keyboard.

What a beautifully written ending to a brilliant second series.

BoglingToAswad · 08/04/2019 11:37

Fucking hell, I'm in bits! I didn't realise I was this invested! Gin

RosaWaiting · 08/04/2019 11:39

when Clare tells Fleabag "The only person I'd run through an airport for is you". Wonderful.

The dad thing made me emotional. Dad and I loved each other but I wouldn't say we liked each other. It was okay, it wasn't a problem, but I think it probably took a while to realise that - in fact we may not have realised it till around his death. I admit it would be a bizarre conversation to have out loud!

RosemaryTelephoneOperator · 08/04/2019 11:39

Gulp. Perfect.

RosaWaiting · 08/04/2019 11:41

Also the Priest's face when Clare told them it was her miscarriage - like he was feeling all the feelings for her. hopefully this underlines that he is a good bloke.

KangaFandanga · 08/04/2019 11:42

That was perfect. I think series two is even better than the series one. So beautifully done. I can't stop weeping. I thought I wanted her to end up with the priest but this is so much better; she isn't completed by romantic love, she is going to be ok regardless and she doesn't need us any more.

ManicGirl · 08/04/2019 11:42

Had to come on and share with other fellow fans. I have developed a rather unhealthy obsession with hp over this series and was in bits at the end. It was the right thing to do but still heart breaking!

Am I right in thinking that boo didn't make a single appearance in the finale. Another way of fb showing that she's going to be ok and start to deal with her grief. I thought that was a really clever touch.

The80sweregreat · 08/04/2019 11:43

The bus being cancelled : their love being derailed by god.

hopefullybettersoon · 08/04/2019 11:50

Oh god I can't take it 😭😭😭 though I do actually think it was perfect. It wouldn't have been right if they'd ended up together. So intense though!

RosemaryTelephoneOperator · 08/04/2019 11:56

Beautifully painful. I'm in a fucking state at work hiding my hurt little face. But they love each other and they will always have that.

The80sweregreat · 08/04/2019 11:58

She didn't make a scene this time or speak to us : even at the end. Just a nod.
Claire leaving her hair piece behind ; klare will love her however she looks.
' I would run though an airport for you' : so much love there!

The priest's sermon being for her. How love can de destructive as well as great.
So many things to take from this ending.
Just sad that dad didn't wise up about step mum but maybe he needs her around more than we think he should!

maeb · 08/04/2019 12:08

Ahh Rosemary me too. I feel like I've been dumped! I know it's a vocation and all but how could you deny yourself love?

ThanksItHasPockets · 08/04/2019 12:09

She was newly self-conscious of us too. We’ve seen her being shagged sideways but in this ep she tugged her skirt down to cover her knickers as she climbed into the attic.

The80sweregreat · 08/04/2019 12:10

I think she will be ok about it. He might suffer a bit , but she is stronger than she looks.

hopefullybettersoon · 08/04/2019 12:11

Funny that although we never saw the mother she's actually been there all along in both series - the statue!

The80sweregreat · 08/04/2019 12:14

Very clever about the statue as it caused fo much heartache in series one when she first stole it.
The step mum was always about in their marriage : just waiting to pounce!
I hope Claire will be happy too.
