She’s going to be OK.

maxinespalour · 08/04/2019 10:09

Bloody gorgeous! Shall do a few jobs and then watch it again Grin

HotPriest · 08/04/2019 10:10

How wonderful. But she doesn't need us anymore 😭

I wonder if that priest is actually a serial shagger who always uses God as an excuse to not have a relationship after

I don’t see how you could watch the pain and the beauty of that final scene and interpret it that way. What extraordinary acting from both of them.

HotPriest · 08/04/2019 10:17

Loved the continued conceal of the Dad's name.

So many amazing actors in the programme. Martin was excellent this time too.

howmanyleftfeet · 08/04/2019 10:27

I think I might have something in my eye...

Connieston · 08/04/2019 10:29

Getting her mum back was powerful. The more I think about it the more I like that touch.

PyjamasBySeven · 08/04/2019 10:35

A perfectly bittersweet ending! Now to figure out how fo fill the Fleabag shaped hole in my life...😭Gin

merrymouse · 08/04/2019 10:35

Sob! But I think it felt complete.

LeslieYep · 08/04/2019 10:37

Loved it. I downloaded it and sat here at my desk watching it, trying to keep any tears in check.
Acting is wonderful and the end felt right.

DeliaSmythe · 08/04/2019 10:39

Really says something about the quality of the writing that I'm crying at the mere mention of certain scenes.
It was a perfect ending. Loved the fact that PWB used music to tell us FB is going to be alright.
And the fox, "He went that way." 😆.

The80sweregreat · 08/04/2019 10:44

Wonderful sad and perfect.
She will be alright. She doesn't need us anymore.

Frangipane · 08/04/2019 10:45

From someone who has been in FB's situation before, all I can say is the ending was predictable. I'm a bit sorry, just for that reason really. It wasn't that I wanted them together necessarily - that would have been unrealistic - but I was hoping for something unexpected. Instead we got exactly what we could have predicted: dad and godmother together, Clare and husband separated, FB and priest thwarted. To be honest, it made for too much of an everyday story. In my world, it isn't hard to find people who have had relationships with priests and been given up for God.

howmanyleftfeet · 08/04/2019 10:48

What's wrong with it being a (relatively) realistic ending?

The beauty is in the writing, the observation of human relationships and the acting.

Connieston · 08/04/2019 10:52

I liked the touches of honesty between FB and godmother. Godmother saying she loves FBs dad and will look after him. FBs honest return of the statue, then godmother asking her and Clare to help her. Still laced with venom but with a touch more mutual understanding perhaps?

MargotLovedTom1 · 08/04/2019 10:52

She got her mother back yes, but then put her in the bin. Or was it something else?

Connieston · 08/04/2019 10:54

She didn't bin it. Her hand just moved over it, she's still carrying it at the very end. Trust me I did a forensic rewind on that!

Frangipane · 08/04/2019 10:54

No, nothing wrong with it being realistic, but just very predictable.

Connieston · 08/04/2019 10:56

I think episode 4 was so shocking we were never going to be more shocked or surprised than that so it was inevitably a little more tame than explosive. Maybe they could have saved the big jump scare stare into camera for the finale!

MissFitton · 08/04/2019 10:57

Loved that. Beautifully observed, written and acted. Sorry that it's finished but a perfect way to end.
