No, killing eve is, to answer my own question

iklboo · 12/05/2019 20:22

PWB and Hot Priest were just awarding a BAFTA

EleanorReally · 12/05/2019 20:26

Oh thanks

Singasonga · 13/05/2019 08:39

It was really PWB’s night, wasn’t it? The shout-outs from the podium, the double act with AS, the actual awards - she’s definitely having a moment.

One thing that really stands out to me is the way she talks about the team aspect of creativity. She gives such huge props to everyone involved with making a production. It reminds me of something I’ve observed in my (very different) career: the best senior women are all about teams, collaboration, and elevating everyone to do their best work. That’s what PWB seems to have, and it really showed last night in the way the actors she’s worked with talk about her.

EleanorReally · 13/05/2019 09:55

It did didnt it?
Lucky to call myself her friend from Jodie and immense accolade from Fiona Shaw

RosaWaiting · 13/05/2019 10:42

I'm sure there's a technical reason but why wasn't Fleabag nominated?

PWB is definitely having a moment. I wonder what it's like to be so amazing!

EleanorReally · 13/05/2019 10:43

Fleabag must have been too late for nominations. only just finished, and also only just released in america/on prime.

ThanksItHasPockets · 13/05/2019 10:44

Fleabag wasn't eligible because it was broadcast in 2019. I have no doubt it'll feature heavily in next year's ceremony.

Technically Killing Eve also wasn't eligible because it aired in the USA before the UK but they bent the rules for it.

RosaWaiting · 13/05/2019 10:48

thanks
for some reason I thought it was about production companies or something

Singasonga · 13/05/2019 10:58

PWB is definitely having a moment. I wonder what it's like to be so amazing!

Given that most of the female leaders I know have some experience struggling with imposter syndrome, I am guessing there’s a chance she may be thinking, “This is great, when is someone going to suddenly dump a bucket of ice water over me?” Grin

RosaWaiting · 13/05/2019 11:22

Sing that's really interesting

I saw some people on Twitter saying that PWB must feel under a lot of pressure to perform as well in her next task etc.

as someone who hasn't succeeded, it is almost a downer to think that success might be really full of anxiety as well!

Igottastartthinkingbee · 13/05/2019 21:52

PWBs opening line when they presented the award last night...’just because something feels perfect doesn’t mean it should last forever’ 😭😭😭😭

Singasonga · 13/05/2019 22:08

I decided they were talking about the series. And now that they’ve relinquished the characters (as they’re not using them anymore), I can imagine as I like with them. Wink

RosaWaiting · 14/05/2019 11:03

every clip I've seen cuts of the beginning so I know there was a joke but didn't know what it was.

As an aside, delighted to see Steve Pemberton winning too.

I can't imagine what it must be like to enjoy work so much. It must be amazing!

Igottastartthinkingbee · 14/05/2019 13:16

Oh yes, love Steve Pemberton. League of gentlemen and psychoville are great but Inside no 9 is brilliant. So clever, funny, heartbreaking at times. Much like Fleabag in a way.

RosaWaiting · 14/05/2019 13:48

Inside no 9 is amazing....I remember when it started and I felt like the only person, IRL, watching it!

Interview with Hot Misogynist

Singasonga · 14/05/2019 14:23

The Ray Fearon interview is good. I always think that sex scenes must be the most bizarre things to work on. Especially if you’ve only just met the other actor and find yourselves having to work out what you’re actually going to do!

RosaWaiting · 14/05/2019 14:58

I was wondering what the schedule for the day looked like.....Confused

what did PWB write in her own diary?

  1. Pretend to shag Ray Fearon
  2. Pretend to shag Andrew Scott

3).....I'd say debrief, but that's just rude Grin

EleanorReally · 14/05/2019 19:45

Still so obsessed with this,
had avocado on toast and thought of Fleabag Grin

RosaWaiting · 14/05/2019 19:46

what I wonder is, is Hilary alone all night? Or all the time the cafe isn't open? How many hours is the cafe open?!

merrymouse · 14/05/2019 21:27

School pets are left alone all night, so on that basis I think Hillary could be left alone.

RosaWaiting · 15/05/2019 10:31

ah, yes, good point.

having watched it again, Scotty was completely unperturbed when Hillary weed on him!

merrymouse · 16/05/2019 19:20

Loads of articles about Fleabag in the US press in anticipation of the Amazon release tomorrow.

RosaWaiting · 22/05/2019 18:04

I realise probably no one is on this thread any more

but rewatching it and seeing the reviews from the US press.....

I feel much sadder for her than I did originally. Like, is she really going to be okay?!

the second watch, I too am struck by how alone she seems - think RuffleCrow said that I didn't initially feel it - but also really sad at the therapist scene - "girl with no friends and an empty heart".

I think, as a viewer, I got so used to Boo being around, I almost thought she was still around! And also Claire might just live in Finland and Fleabag needs friends! I need closure with Fleabag getting a new friend.

and I don't think she loves Hot Priest. She's having crossover between needing a friend and him being Hot.

DarlingNikita · 22/05/2019 18:33

I'm here!

That's an interesting perspective. I felt quite positive about the ending but I do see what you mean.

I did think it was positive that she was so encouraging of Claire going after Klare and possibly to a future in Finland; I think by the end of the show she was feeling more secure and so was able to genuinely support her to go.

I feel like she's in a position to start making friends now, whereas before she was almost deliberately staying lonely because she hated herself after what happened to Boo.
